3D scans show boat-like formation matching 'biblical' description of Noah’s Ark, archaelogists say

This is very interesting. The Ark of the Bible in the biblical account of the world wide flood may well have been found. I believe the footprint and remains of this vessel are present there.

3D scans show boat-like formation matching 'biblical' description of Noah’s Ark, archaelogists say

Biblical archaeologists say they have discovered a boat-like formation matching the biblical description of Noah's Ark as they used a ground-penetrating radar at a rocky spot in eastern Turkey that some speculated to be the location of the original vessel.
Archaeologists associated with a project named Noah's Ark Scans say they have discovered a "boat formation" on Mount Tendürek matching the "exact length" of the ark given in the Bible — around 150 meters or 300 cubits in biblical terms — The U.S. Sun reported Sunday.
The Durupinar boat-shaped formation was discovered in 1959 by a Turkish army captain. The research interest in the site began in the 1970s through the mid-1990s due to the work of American explorer Ron Wyatt and others. According to the project's website , independent private geophysical surveys were conducted in 2014 and 2019 "showing layers and interesting angular structures below the ground."
"The new GPR data shows parallel lines and angular structures 8 to 20 feet down," the project explains on its website. "These parallel lines and right angles below the surface are something you would not expect to see in a natural, geologic formation. Interestingly, the boat formation has also been confirmed to be the exact length of the ark given in the Bible (Genesis 6:15)."
This year, a consortium of Turkish scientists and other supporters plan to do "the most complete geophysical survey and scientific study of this site to date using as many modern scientific methods as possible."
"We have the support of key locals, we have interested scientists who have the permit to work in this area, and we have the media contacts to document the work," the website explains.
Andrew Jones, who leads the project, told The Sun that the GPR data is "not what you would expect to see if this site is just a solid block of rock or an accumulation of random debris from a mudflow."
"But these results are what you would expect to see if this is a man-made boat matching the Biblical requirements of Noah's Ark," he said.
Some geologists, however, say the mountainous lump is an unusual rock formation.
"I knew that the scientific consensus was that the Durupinar site is a geological oddity," Ryan Mauro, president of the Doubting Thomas Research Foundation, which is part of the project, told The Sun. "Before learning about these scans, it seemed like those who continued to argue in favor of the Durupinar site just couldn't accept the truth and let it go."
"It's a whole new ballgame now," he continued. "Those judgments dismissing the site were made decades ago and based on limited data compared to what we have now. As I learned more, I became convinced that the project was worth my support and that it is vital that we determine the truth about the Durupinar site."
In August, Jones and his team spent four days in the region surveying the ark site and meeting with archaeology professors who are also doing work in the area, such as Dr. Fethi Yuksel from Istanbul University.
"With 4 days on the ground, the team was able to meet daily and see the different sites associated with the Noah's ark research project and meet key archaeologists doing other work in the region. One good news out of the trip was that Dr. Yuksel announced that a permit with his name on it as one of the team members was issued that covered the area of the Noah's ark site," Jones announced in an update last month. "This would speed up the process of doing the work. Once the funding comes in we can start the on-the-ground research with the professors and their assistants from the 3 Turkish universities!"
He stated that there will be no excavation of the site until the "geophysical surveys, core drilling and geological studies are complete."
"This summer's work is a necessary step and the most important one to reach our goal," he wrote.
Jones said the goal "has always been to uncover as much evidence as possible for Noah's ark and to present it to the world."
god's second attempt at populating the earth with the products of incest...
It's an eroded syncline
There never was a world flood, or an ark, or a Noah
This is true. I even explained how the ark & flood myth was unlikely in an article I wrote a while back.
"But these results are what you would expect to see if this is a man-made boat matching the Biblical requirements of Noah’s Ark."
The project - Noah's Ark Scans - claim they have discovered "parallel line and right angles below the surface" which are "something you would not expect to see in a natural, geologic formation".
And the "boat formation" is claimed to also be the "exact length" of the ark given in the Bible - which is around 150 metres, or 300 cubits in Biblical terms.
In the Book of Genesis, the mountains of Ararat in what is now eastern Turkey is the region in which Noah's Ark comes to rest after the Great Flood - which is close to Mount Tendürek.
The site was originally discovered in 1959 by Turkish army captain Ilhan Durupinar, who noticed the boat formation in aerial photographs of the area by the military.
His discovery resulted in a brief period of international interest in the site.
The Durupinar site was later visited in person by controversial researcher Ron Wyatt in the 1970s through the 1990s.
His findings in favour of the site being Noah’s Ark caused other researchers, archaeologists, and scientists to examine the formation.
The new team boast their findings should force a reconsideration of the long-rumoured site by skeptics.
And they are hoping to carry out more scans at the site, followed by drilling and then excavations.
Biblical account
Noah loaded two of every animal onto a 150-metre long ark to save them from apocalyptic flooding, according to the Bible.
Geologists and historians find the Biblical flood myth irreconcilable with the modern understanding of the fossil record, human history and age of the Earth.
Christian scholars however continue to hunt for evidence of the Ark, which was said to be a wooden ship 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 35 feet high.
Ryan Mauro, president of the Doubting Thomas Research Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to investigating the historicity of Biblical accounts.
He told The Sun Online: "I knew that the scientific consensus was that the Durupinar site is a geological oddity.
"Before learning about these scans, it seemed like those who continued to argue in favour of the Durupinar site just couldn’t accept the truth and let it go."
He added: "It’s a whole new ballgame now. Those judgements dismissing the site were made decades ago and based on limited data compared to what we have now.
"As I learned more, I became convinced that the project was worth my support and that it is vital that we determine the truth about the Durupinar site."
Jones, Mauro’s Doubting Thomas Research Foundation, and a team of Turkish scientists are now hoping to conduct groundbreaking scientific work on the site and have already acquired the necessary permit.
The team are currently trying to raise the about £72,000 ($100,000 necessary) for the proposed scientific studies to take place.
The findings will also feature on an upcoming episode of "Forbidden History" on the Science Channel.
If you have 2 lions to feed for forty days and forty nights and you only have 2 zebras, you have a serious problem.
Oh ye of little faith.
No bigger a problem than Daniel did in a den full of them. Noah with Gods direction provided sufficient food for all of the animals and the humans aboard.
Ah, yes. Magic. Got it. Hadn't thought of that.
It's quite convenient too. It's the "answer" to everything. No further thought or analysis required.
The Science Channel competes with a host of other channels in how much crap they can throw at the willingly gullible. Don't be surprised to soon see Ancient Alien Arkeologists on the Cooking Channel explain the site as being a giant BBQ for roasting mammoths stuffed with zebras.
Is this like seeing faces in clouds...
More like seeing what you want to see.
More like many anti theists hoping against hope that it’s never found.
I think it would be fascinating if we found genuine evidence that supports notions we hold as mythology. Most atheists I know are keen to follow the evidence to wherever it leads and would absolutely accept the existence of a god if there were persuasive evidence to do so.
Most atheists are not anti-deity but rather anti-bullshit. We are not rejecting a supreme being, we are stating that the human stories and arguments thus far are not persuasive. We are essentially calling bullshit on the claims of our fellow human beings and will continue to do so until persuasive evidence emerges.
Very logical, very rational.
You never get this, no matter how many times people have explained it to you. But you give me an opportunity to make the point to others (reading) who might actually think this through.
Not anti theist. But rather anti BS! Some don't simply cling or accept something that appeals to belief or emotion. Some prefer an objective, logical analysis of evidence before jumping to a conclusion.
Nor does he want to, it would ruin the games he is so fond of playing.
I hope they keep at it. It will be fascinating if there really is something in there.
They will keep at it. I’m not sure how much would be intact 4300 years later. The biggest beams of the frame may be preserved in some form.
There are have been various claims of finding Noah's Ark for almost two thousand years.
Claiming to find Noah's Ark is no different than claiming to find Zeus' palace on Mt. Olympus.
Except that they are using science and technology to advance archeological evidence further in the search for Noah’s Ark from over 4300 years ago.
Science and evidence is what easily discredits the biblical Noah's Ark & flood. Maybe they'll find Noah's rowboat.
Noah's Ark is, of course, a creation of myth. Science and technology cannot uncover a mythological ship.
When they use science and technology to discover a sunken ship in the Caribbean, do you believe it might be The Jolly Roger, Captain Hook's pirate ship from "Peter Pan"?
Noah’s ark is very real. It protected life on earth from a great global flood. Its remains will be found. It’s real as was the Tower of Babel and creation by intelligent design is the source of our origins. The Stream is a great source to show the reality of our creation and of the global flood.
Sunday school is not a great source for truth.
Amen!
/S
Actually it is.
What a perfect illustration of my point. To you, Sunday school is a great source of truth.
There is no greater source of truth than the Protestant Christian Church, it’s written message, and the God we worship there.
Now that's very discriminatory. You obviously left out all Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches. They believe in the same God you do. They believe Jesus was born of a virgin and died for your sins. How come only the Protestants have a monopoly on the truth?
Special Beer goggles.
I would have said because it causes more division and conflict to exclude them but your answer is funnier
I didn’t say Protestants have a monopoly on truth nor did I suggest that Catholics and Orthodox have no truth. I simply said that the evangelical Protestant Churches most advanced from the initial reformation have the greatest light or truth, not that the others didn’t have any. All of them have sufficient truth for their observant members to be assured of salvation.
those are your words are they not? Dont' piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You wouldn't to be accused of bearing false witness now would you?
And you didn't say all that other stuff
They are. I stand by them. When some have the greatest amount of truth relative to others, it doesn’t mean that the others have no present truth at all.
You have a knack for talking out of both sides of your mouth
That's nice. Prove it! That myth has been largely debunked anyway, which I previously covered.
Wishful thinking.
Also debunked.
Also false and discredited.
It is the secular progressive left positions and ideas that are Wishful thinking, debunked, as well as false and discredited.
So all you have is a "nuh uh" formulated as a Pee Wee Herman response!
All you have is a blind irrational illogical faith in the concept of random chance.
It seems all you have is nonsensical taunting now.
It’s not me here that engages in that.
You already did. Not the first time either.
The concept of origins and existence by random chance is thoroughly discredited.
Evolution does not operate on random chance; it operates on natural selection of variants. Natural selection is anything but random. And the idea that biochemical evolution is thoroughly discredited is so ridiculous anyone with even the most basic understanding of it would never make such a stupid claim.
Go ahead and put forth the evidence to support your assertion! If you are able to do so, I'm sure it would turn the scientific community on its head. But I won't hold my breath.
How everything came to be initially without an intelligent designer can only be by random chance.
Random is not the same as undirected.
You would be better equipped to engage people on this if you went to the Christian+Science website BioLogos and learned how they explain evolution.
They explain the science without compromising a faith in a sentient creator.
While there is no evidence of a sentient creator and they do not pretend as though there is, they hold to their faith without rejecting or distorting science.
This website was founded by Dr. Francis Collins — the distinguished scientist who led the Human Genome project that sequenced our DNA. Dr. Collins is a devout Christian.
You have much to learn about evolution based on your comments; there is no excuse for continued stubborn ignorance of this subject.
