Butterfly Garden Plus New Lens … Nice Couple

Swallowtail Butterfly on Privet flowers.

This spring I cleared a portion of my backyard and planted lots of seeds, not just to enhance the surroundings, but in the hope of getting lots of "nature" shots with my new lens and camera.

Took this about an hour ago I hope it's just the beginning of a productive summer and fall, literally in my own backyard.

Note: This shot's for all and especially for Uppy.

That is a great photo - composition, subject, colour, focus, sharpness. Especially to be appreciated is the colour-graduated background forming a variable contrasting background.

Lots of rain heading my way and I anticipate a flower explosion soon; unfortunately and, somewhat alarmingly, butterflies were scarce last year and so far, this year as well.

The butterfly in the photo is the only Tiger Swallowtail I've seen so far this year -- and many other species -- none at all.

Awesome shot Mac. Quite a few people noticed the shortage of butterflieslast year, it really bummed me out. I hope to see more this year!
