Favorite Christmas Movie
Chistmas is going to be here soon!
Lets have some fun and relax and tell us what your favorite all time Christmas movie is...
I had a hard time between two.
A Christmas Carol ( Alastair Sims)
It's a Wonderful Life.
So I picked,
It's a Wonderful Life.
The ending when he sees how much one person can make a difference is amazing.
It made you think how important and how much the world would be dull without you.
Plus I like the man playing the Angel.
So tell us what yours would be.... : )
Please stay on subject and be polite.
Thank you....
Christmas Vacation
love that movie
In my house it's not Christmas until the 24 hours of Christmas Story. As far as favorite move, I don't know if it's considered a movie, but I love Charlie Brown Christmas.
Mine too, that and Christmas Vacation.
Home Alone is good for a few laughs as well.
I never thought Home Alone was all that good.
Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
I did an article on NT many years ago about the different versions. For nostalgia, I enjoy the 1938 version with Reginald Owen. It also stars husband and wife Gene and Kathleen Lockhart as the Cratchits, as well as their daughter June Lockhart uncredited as Belinda Cratchit. June, as many may know went on to play in Lassie, Lost in Space, and Petticoat Junction.
The 1951 British film Scrooge, renamed A Christmas Carol in the US stars Alastair Sim as Scrooge. It is reported to be the best adaption of Dickens work. However, the film includes quite a bit of artistic license in that it includes many sub stories not mentioned in the original novel. Such as how Scrooge and Marley acquire their business, how his sister Fan dies, and what his former fiancé Alice does after their breakup. Still, it's a very good telling.
The 1999 made for TV movie adaption with Patrick Stewart is an excellent version, and one that I look for every year.
However, the 1984 made for TV movie A Christmas Carol with George C Scott playing Scrooge has to be my all time favorite. But then again, anything George C Scott stars in is sure to be a great movie.
Having said all of that, there is nothing I enjoy more than playing TBS's marathon A Christmas Story on Christmas day. "It's a Major Award!"
I don't like the movie production of it, but will go see the play in a heartbeat.
Test
test
one, two ..... test, test ...... is this thing on?
Miracle on 34th Street (Original Black and White version) The best scene is when the judge orders the lawyer to hand over all the letters and the lawyer waves to the door to come in...with bags upon bags of letters to Santa Claus...
Yep, the finger point, "Put them right here on my desk"
Then Gailey turns to the bailiff at the door and gives the hand signal.....
Couldn't remember his name...thank you.
I like all three of the movies mentioned so far.
A Christmas Carol is one of the great stories in world literature, and Dickens was one of the world's greatest writers. It is in a class by itself.
Holiday Inn, starring Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Marjorie Reynolds. It's the movie that brought us ''White Christmas''.
The Holiday movie I've enjoyed about a dozen times so far is a classic as well Kavika.
We're No Angels (1955)
Check out the 2 minute trailer for a sense of the Who's Who cast in this little gem.
.
It's the only time I ever saw Bogart do comedy and he hits his mark every durn time.
Flick is a lot of fun, (if you enjoy your humor very dry), and hits that "Christmas Spirit" target Bang On.!
Thanks AH, I've never seen the movie, but what a great cast it has...I'll be sure to watch it.
Bet you'll enjoy it if you do Kavika.
The script is chocked full of the kind of sly humor that most people remember from Casablanca.
In Casablanca humor was used as a spice but in "We're No Angles" it's the base of the movie. Lots of fun.

LOL, classic.
Bad Santa, hands down.
The Grinch!
Like Uncle Bruce I have watched at least most of the versions of A Christmas Carol, and IMO Scrooge (A Christmas Carol) starring Alastair Sim, who in my opinion best represented what was expected for Ebeneezer Scrooge, is my favourite Christmas movie. As we are speaking of movies, and not whether or not they were more or less accurate renditions of the novel, I don't take such accuracy into consideration to determine my favourite (although it was a major factor in my explanations of the different movie versions of Pride and Prejudice previously posted on the Classic Cinema group). An interesting point is that I believe it was in the George C. Scott version that David Warner, who played Tiny Tim (Cratchit) in the Alastair Sim version, played Bob Cratchit in the more recent one.
Miracle on 34th Street would be my second choice.
A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas.
I usually avoid Christmas movies, but I can still watch White Christmas, (or is it Holiday Inn?), with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, et. al., every year with joy!
"Tell us what your favorite Christmas movie is.... : )"
I knida have a bunch.
ALL the Hallmark Channel Christmas Movies for sure.
But my most fav. has to be 1964's "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".
I'm a Burl Ives fan after all.
I like that one, too!
ah....the Old Days.
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas...
You TOO !
Merry Christmas !
I have been watching the Hallmark channel since Thanksgiving! LOL
One of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned is 'It happened on 5th Avenue'.
I'd never heard of that movie so I looked it up. Sounds like a good one!
I like all of the movies that have been listed, but my all-time favorites are still A Christmas Carol/Scrooge (Reginald Owen/Alistair Sim). Just watched both last week for the umpteenth time.
One that I remember my sisters used to make me watch is a cute fluff 1950s comedy called "Bundle of Joy" - Debbie Reynolds, Eddie Fisher, Adolph Menjou.
Family favorites are Miracle on 34th Street (1947) and A Charlie Brown Christmas.
One of my favorites is Love, Actually. Not necessarily a Christmas movie, but it takes place during Christmas, and is such a sweet movie!
I particularly enjoy the Christmas movies put out by Hallmark, my favorite being The Christmas Card.
I love "Christmas Vacation", "A Christmas Story", "Elf", and I have been binge watching the Hallmark channel since Thanksgiving. "Polar Express" is another good one
