Fox News Hosts Bash Trump’s ‘Disgusting’ Putin Presser

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

Several prominent Fox News hosts could not believe what they saw Monday in President Trump’s overtly deferential presser with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The joint conference in Helsinki took a turn for the shocking when, after being asked by Reuters whether he held Russia responsible for meddling in the 2016 election, Trump said he holds “both sides responsible.” The president also directly contradicted his own intelligence officials, saying he believes Putin when he says Russia did not intervene in the election.

Following the presser, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto—appearing on the Fox Business Network—called it a “disgusting” display.

Trump was “essentially letting the guy get away with this, not even offering a mild, a mild criticism,” Cavuto said. “That’s what made his performance disgusting. Only way I feel. Not a right or left thing to me. It is wrong.”

Fellow Fox host Stuart Varney, who routinely boosts Trump’s policies, bashed the president for what was “not a very forceful presentation.” Two of the conservative host’s guests joined in, saying Putin came out ahead.

“He outmaneuvered our president,” FBN business reporter Ashley Webster said. “I was very surprised. I thought Trump was going to push hard.”

Fox & Friends Weekend host Abby Huntsman—daughter of Jon Huntsman, Trump’s ambassador to Russia—also minced no words in criticizing the president whom she regularly defends.

“No negotiation is worth throwing your own people and country under the bus,” she wrote in a forceful tweet following the presser. Her comment appeared to be pushing back on an emerging pro-Trump argument that the president’s deference to Putin was a means to making diplomatic in-roads with Russia.

Some of the network’s political correspondents seemingly agreed that Trump had failed.

White House correspondent Kevin Corke, who has previously flirted with alt-right politics, conceded on-air that Trump “did miss an opportunity,” while national correspondent Ed Henry said the president’s refusal to side with U.S. intelligence agencies was “really going to backfire on him.”

Brit Hume, a former anchor turned correspondent, wrote on Twitter that Trump’s “vague and rambling” answer on whether he believes Russia interfered in 2016 was a “lame response, to say the least.”

Other Fox personalities took issue with the presser, but suggested it was part of a grander Trump strategy.

On Fox News’ daytime talk show Outnumbered, host Kennedy said she doubted that Trump actually believed Putin’s denial of interference, but acknowledged that she “would like to see the president be more forceful.”

Co-host Melissa Francis, however, maintained that it was possible Trump was more forceful during the private meeting with Putin. “You have to view what he's saying outside the room as a PR campaign by the president to send a message to Vladimir Putin,” she said. “We don’t know what happened inside the room, we don't know how tough he was there."

Meanwhile, Fox News’ resident right-leaning media critic Howard Kurtz criticized the president’s “troubling” performance, but then—as is his wont—found a way to make it about the trouble with liberal media.

“It’s troubling that Trump wouldn't embrace his own intel agencies’ findings on Russian meddling against the ‘strong & powerful’ Putin denials,” Kurtz tweeted. “Liberal commentators denouncing him as Neville Chamberlain, calling for censure & impeachment, also going over the top against Trump.”

Since when are you pro Fox News? Oh wait, some of them said something against Trump.  I am sure you will go back to deriding them as being not news shortly.

As for his meeting Putin- who really gives a damn.  If this was Hillary the left wouldn't even have blinked.  Think Russia was on the sidelines for both of Obama's victories? (Of course he was pulling for Obama over McCain and Romney so that is OK.) Think we and NATO were on the sidelines for Russian elections; elections in the Russian buffer states; Syria; Iran; or any where else we held out a glimmer of hope of influence?  Hell, Obama tried to directly influence the Israeli election, and was defended by the left for doing it.

What was given to the public was Trump and Putin acting nice for the public.  What was said behind closed doors away from the media- and all but the translators?  I am sure the left thinks it was Trump giving Putin our nuclear codes, the security bypasses to Fort Knox, and how best to bypass the security cyberware for Wall Street (Which Trump doesn't know- but I am sure the left thinks he does).  Chances are it was the same as both Bush's private meetings; Clinton's, and Obama's.  "Stop messing with our elections." "Stop flipping pro Russian governments in the buffer states; and leave our over seas allies alone!"  "Fuck you" "No, fuck you".  They get it out of their system knowing full well neither side is going to stop a damn thing; put on a fake smile for the cameras- and talk bs about all of the common ground they found.

Problem is that Trump's handlers aren't the brightest; or he doesn't listen. Of course the media would never ask an Establishment president about Russia meddling in US elections. What Trump should have said is "Of course Russia attempted to influence our elections.  They have been for a long time; and will continue to do so.  We will take new steps to stop them; and tweak their noses by continuing to flip pro Russian buffer states, and isolate them further from the rest of the world.  From the count so far, I'd say we are winning handily."  Of course that would blow the whole poor US mantra out of the water. Then I guess the left would scream about Trump outing US operations (as if the whole world doesn't already know).

But it is all about hatred of Trump at this point, so it wouldn't really matter what he did.

Vic, in all seriousness, is your comment a joke?

The fact that Trump granted an interview to his good friend Sean Hannity is not a matter of realistic pride for either of them, it is a sign and signal that Fox news is "state media" and the propaganda arm of the Trump regime.

I don't know where or how you ever got the idea that Fox is an objectively honest news source, but that is very often anything but true.

Of course FOX is befuddled and confused. They weren't counting on Trump coming along. FOX has always been the voice of the right wing's chapter of the Establishment. Trump disrupted their rhetoric  but they don't dare attack him to strongly for fear of displaying their true colors which were never really hidden all that well.

If Trump had canceled, maybe the news stations, all of them, including Fox, would not be having a melt down today.

Or the DNI, or Republican Senators, or The Speaker of the House.  The  DNI Coats was actually having a presser at the same time which totally contradicted what Trump said.

It was an unnecessary move by Trump, apparently meant to raise his own "visibility" and it has back fired.

Maybe, if he had cancelled, he could have united the GOP.  What we are watching is quite the opposite.

Meanwhile a new investigation, unrelated to Mueller, has led to the arrest of a ( an actual ) Russian Agent.

So, according to some, Trump should have stood up there and lambasted Vlad. Then what...where do we go from there? No further negotiations?...WWIII?

It was very clear to any real patriot what he should have done. If he couldn't cancel the meeting at the least he should have come right out and said "I believe the US intelligence, Russia did in fact hack the DNC, hack at least 20 different State election servers and intentionally meddled in our 2016 elections. I have told Mr. Putin that this is not acceptable and they will have to earn our trust if they want a better relationship with us and for sanctions or the Magnitsky act to be removed."

Instead, the piece of treasonous trash stood up there and said "Well I don't see any reason Russia would have hacked us, President Putin was very strong and powerful in his denial, and I haven't seen the missing server, where's the server...?". He got bent over and abused by Putin who was smiling to himself the entire time with glee at how he could make the US President dance to his tune. It was an utter embarrassment for any real American patriot. I, for one, was more than just dismayed.

Well-- here's what one prominent Republican suggested Trump should've done:

South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy took Russia to task over alleged interference in the 2016 US elections and suggested President Donald Trump ask Russia to extradite its recently indicted nationals.

Gowdy said he wanted Trump to give "serious consideration" to a point blank request of Putin to give the US all 13 Russians that Mueller indicted in February and the 12 members of Russian intelligence the US charged last week.

"Your first requests of Vladimir Putin needs to be: tell us which airport we can pick up the 25 Russians that tried to interfere with the fundamentals of our democracy," Gowdy said.

"If you really claim you had nothing to do with it that you should be as shocked as we were that your military was being used to impact our election. Tell us where you're going to extradite those folks because an American grand jury indicted them for undermining our democracy."

I suppose you feel that Goudy is some sort of ultra liberal-- perhaps a "Socialist" traitor to our country? Do you really believe that Goudy wants Trump to "start WWIII"?

Yes and yes, because it is the same leadership they have worked together with for decades to create a gridlock that prevents any real progress for the citizens of this country.

It is humorous to hear a lefty say that Trump should listen to McConnell, Ryan and other establishment Republicans.

Forget the Rs and Ls, doubtful that you will find many independents who want to go back to what we had.

Think of it this way.  We're enemies. Is there is anything you could do to motivate me to do something for you?

And if there was, would it be of the nature you exhibit here on a constant basis.

The difference between you and me, is that my positions are invariably explained in specific detail, and while you and anyone else is free to disagree, to do in the effete manner you do, is the trademark of one who needs scapegoats to "validate" your frustrations and personal shortcomings.

The white-resentment manifested by the endless reiteration of many times over debunked lies and blanket, dismissive zeal-without-knowledge hate screeds, is what you represent.

There are those herein with whom I disagree as vehemently as I do with you, BUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM (i.e. "IT IS ME," SEAN TRACY, dennis, "1 OF MANY" and some others) AND YOU, is that they attempt to express themselves with a level of intellectuality.

Those like yourself who gangbang away with nary a well-conceived counter-point, who live by the ad hominem, adolescent utterances, who haven't the slightest idea that by supporting a Donald Trump, they "trouble their own house" -- America -- help bring America down to the level of an incompetent, lying, narcissistic bigot!

And now … he has sold you out to a murderous piece-of-shit in Russia … and you stupidly encourage further such sell outs!

Don't flatter yourself … the only thing I want you to do for me …

And boy do they love you, everything they look for in a dupe.  You trust them out of the gate, your ideology takes priority over country.  I do believe you've been on their radar for a while now.   You must be young if you don't know much about Russia, Putin and the old Soviet Union and their preferred intelligence tactics.

A short internet search found this, maybe, you should try reading up on immigration and, learn a few things.

People seeking asylum are following the law, not breaking it.
Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy asylum from persecution. This is the law – both under international law and federal statute. Recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and spelled out in the 1951 Refugee Convention , the United States made good on its commitment to the this principle in 1980 when the Refugee Act was signed into law.

Maybe you should do some research yourself:

"Individuals may apply for asylum at a port of entry without illegally entering the country. While the law allows people illegally in the U.S. to apply for asylum, they do not have to “figure out how to get inside” before applying."

It would be monstrous for a parent not to take there children away from an environment that almost guarantees there early demise, rape or induction into a violent gang. If you lived in those conditions you'd be in line with your kids at our borders as well. And most are presenting themselves at a port of entry legally applying for asylum but they're still being turned away.

How are you so blind to the fact that today's Russia isn't the Russia of 2012 when we were all hoping they would increase their freedoms and democracy and have clear free and fair elections. Since then they've invaded a foreign country and lied about it, they've openly assassinated journalists, political opponents and protesters, they've hacked both of our political parties emails and helped one side win who they thought would treat them more favorably, they've paid at least $1.25 million a month during our elections to help their favored candidate win, they've had two bogus elections in their own country that were neither free nor fair with actual video leaking of them manually stuffing ballot boxes with votes for Putin. We gave them a chance a few years ago, to embrace western democracy and western values, they've spit in our eye and now we have a President who is apparently beholden to them. This is nothing like it was when Obama was trying tentative diplomacy.

tt oday's Russia isn't the Russia of 2012 when we were all hoping they would increase their freedoms and democracy and have clear free and fair elections.

Putin's Russia has never changed. It's been the same story since he took control. As Romney rightly said in 2012,

"a declaration from the State Department that "the United States congratulates the Russian people on the completion of the Presidential elections." Given that the Russian elections were widely seen to have been compromised by fraud and intimidation, these words made a mockery of America’s commitment to democracy and human rights. They undercut all those in Russia who are risking so much to struggle for the universal rights that we ourselves enjoy. They are a shameful betrayal of our country’s first principles.

This is Putin's Democracy:

Since then they've invaded a foreign country and lied about

Georgia

 t hey've openly assassinated journalists

Here's a long list of journoists killed when Russia was a "Democracy"

  political opponents

Like  Alexander  Litvinenko

protesters

Like Sergi Magnistky?

Not to mention arming Assad, and fighting against our sanctions policy on Iran.

There is a documentary on the History Channel about putin, everyone should watch it. And you're right. Eric Trump spilled those beans a long time ago when he said that his father borrowed hundreds of millions of dollars from russian banks to fund his golf courses, (because the US banks were tired of trump defaulting on his loans). Trump is in debt to the russians all the way to that dead ferret stapled to the top of his orange scalp. Another thing to remember? People that speak out against putin have a nasty habit of turning up dead.

The only thing I can say is that Putin must have more on Trump than what we originally thought.

Mueller certainly does as the indictments of last Friday revealed and the arrest of the Russian agent yesterday.

The Trumpian Cartel, especially the Trumpian 'bottle scrubbers' are praying-----err-preying--that The Helsinki Wajinki will pass into the feted swamp the same way as the "I really don't care--do you," jacket worn by the most illustrious first lady in the recorded history of mankind on Earth was swallowed into the cess pool  of void land.

Trump doesn't care what anyone thinks, his act of throwing America under the bus is now out in the open. Fox is late to the game.

Fox got played, the American people got played and all Trump wants is another notch in his global empire with a Trump Hotel in Russia and NK.

He is at a point he does not care if he is re-elected. They can kick him out and so what, Trump will laugh because he will move forward without consequence and create jobs in Russia, in NK, and in other dictatorships who are open to bribery.

Trump is the epitome of his wife's jacket slogan, "I really don't care, do you"? And it doesn't matter if Fox or anyone else cares now because he doesn't care and never will. Like a bull in a china shop he will rage on as long as a dollar sign is in sight.

Fox got played,

Well...you havearight to your lowly opinion of Fox News.

But the only one who got played is Donald "Surrender Monkey" Trump!!!

Brit Hume, a former anchor turned correspondent, wrote on Twitter that Trump’s “vague and rambling” answer on whether he believes Russia interfered in 2016 was a “lame response, to say the least.”

Let's face it, "Surrender Monkey Trump" is all bluster-- underneath he's very weak.

He's like a sulking spoiled chid!

Heck, even some of what had been his more ardent supporters of Fox News are starting to realize that!!!

Hi Folks!

Does anyone believe we will find out publicly what actually transpired during Trump's private discourse? Trump's words especially? Chris Wallace is another matter...This is public information...Putin is no fool...He is a career Communist, and he is nothing but an ex-equivalent of a career cheater and liar to the rest of the WORLD! He is, will be, and will remain our enemy no matter what words he mouths in public. PERIOD, end of matter!!!

That was some quick "whataboutism" deflection, nice job. I'm sure Putin and the rest of those wishing for the downfall of America would be proud.

So if you didn't believe that you're saying we shouldn't believe that's what Trump talked about with Putin, right?

Dealing with the leader of an enemy foreign power has quite a bit more effect on our lives than an ex-President having a conversation with the justice department. Your false equivalency is frankly ludicrous.

Of course I noticed the attempt at sarcasm, but the reality is it was a back handed defense and deflection so it wasn't a very good attempt.

Arnold Schwarzenegger laid it on the line very well in his critique of Trumps meeting with Putin:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The  Terminator  star and former governor of California, 70, slammed Trump in an   Instagram video   after the president held a press conference with Putin on Monday in Helsinki, Finland.
“President Trump, I just saw your press conference with President Putin and it was embarrassing. I mean, you stood there like a little wet noodle, like a little fanboy,” Schwarzenegger scolded in the video.
During the news brief, which came after the leaders met privately for over two hours, Trump seemed to accept Putin’s denial of interfering in the 2016 presidential election — despite findings to the contrary by U.S. intelligence agencies.
In his response video, the actor and longtime Republican teased that Trump looked like he was going to ask Putin for an “autograph” or a “selfie.” He added that Trump “sold out” his intelligence community, the justice system, and “worst of all, our country” during the press conference.
