What To Do in the Rain?
Been raining since Wednesday night (My fault, I winerized the boat AND washed one of my cars after work that day, becuase it was so nice out). The weather guessers say that it's supposed to rain through Saturday. I think they said it's supposed to stop on Sunday. Or the Ark is supposed to launch on Sunday. One of the two.
My question? What do you like to do on a rainy day, when the thought of going outside just can't be contemplated?

If at home, I might do a marathon of stuff I have on DVD like Firefly or the West Wing. I don't have a fireplace (I do have an electric one that is part of the enterainment center the TV sits on, but it's not ther same). At the Lakehouse we'd have anice roaring fire going in the Wood Stove (Vermont Soapstone). Nothing beats chasing out the dampness like a woodstove......
Comfort food too-Cream of tomato soup and grilled cheese.........
You, too?
That's usually my go to after work on a rainy, cold day.
Alarming similarities.....separated at birth?
Tell me......goldfish?
If I have them.
Love that...mac and cheese too. Watch a movie, text friends and family about nothing, cook, and maybe a nap.
Mac and cheese made with white cheddar... Yummy!
Mac and cheese mixed with barbequed pulled pork...to die for.
That does sound good. I am a fan of both but have never mixed the two. Going to have to try it.
Comfort food too-Cream of tomato soup and grilled cheese.........
Another person who love that classic combination?
I keep seeing those memes saying 'remember when..........tomato soup and grilled cheese'
I'm sitting here going, yeah, Last night.
Doobie time after that it really doesn't matter.
As a person that can be 'no-notice' tested as a condition of employment, that is not on my list of things to do. So, I need to find other activities......
You have my sympathy:)
And what might that have to do with smoking weed on a rainy day by a retired adult in their own home, pray tell?
Perhaps a fifth of Cuervo would be more palatable.
It's a conscious choice I've made in choosing a career. Don't need sympathy or want it-just one habit I don't need to have and to justify.
Just playing with you, thought this was supposed to be light hearted.
Watch movies, prepare photo essays to post on NT, read novels, surf the web and spend much too much time on the computer generally. Not much else to do and here sometimes it can rain for days at a time, but thanks to our elevation and great infrastructure there's no flooding.
We usually get our first good rain here just about the week of Halloween. None this year yet though. Hasn't rained here more than a few sprinkles since May so I'll probably go out in it and just enjoy it.
We've been getting more, after a very dry summer (I referred to my front yard as 'Phoenix, Arizona'). But this week has been pretty tough-rained on saturday, Sunday, monday, tuesdat, was nice on Wednesday when I jinxed it for everyone, then nothing but rain.
We are at that in-between time of year here. It's been snowing for weeks but not deep enough to play yet. I'd probably go to the gym and watch some sledneck videos on youtube.
Dean, are you on FB at all? If so, we have a page.....The United Snowmobile Alliance. I'm picking up my latest sled purchase tomorrow....BTW, I tried on the Oxygen Helmet at the Big East Powersports Show. I like it....not sure I'm ready to part with $600 for it though.........
You must be excited to get a new sled. I hope you have good snow and a safe winter ahead.
No facebook here thanks. Yes that's an expensive helmet and does look nice. I've been wearing a Klim.
My company supplies me with with new FXR Gear periodically (every other year or so) and was wearing their gear all last season. Nice stuff, plus i bought a set of FXR boots 2 seasons ago (Cyber Monday sale on Amazon for like $150) with the bolos.
I like that the Oxygen Helmet actually heats and you can feel the heat coming down the front of the helmet. Plus the visibility is great (I've never found an open w/goggles that I cared for).
If it's a Saturday I'll sleep all day. Maybe stir myself long enough to put on a pot of soup or chili. If it's a Sunday, I try to stay awake because Monday I have to go back to work.
I probably should have stated......and you don't have to go to work.......
Oh, well, in that case....sleep
Rainy days are for things I hate doing, like vacuuming, sorting laundry, paperwork ect ect
Yep, me to.
Depending on the season and weather fronts, it can be a good time to hunt and fish as well.
I usually try to take a nap, but since it rains so much here.... Split firewood, clean the garage, cut blackberry vines.
My kids and grandkids love playing in the rain !
I do too at times.
Sporting my finest sweats, sipping some hot apple cider and reading a good book.
Speaking of wives or girlfriends....after that lunch of grilled cheese sandwich and creamy tomato soup....
perhaps have a warm bath together, followed by a mutual massage, and then....?
Grab your girl and get out there and dance !
I sit on my porch wrapped in a blanket and enjoy a hot cup of Earl Gray tea or a glass of Merlot. The only time I sleep well is when it rains, the sound of it hitting the roof lulling me into a deep sleep.
