SHUTDOWN DAY 11: President Trump Is Not Falling For Nancy’s Shenanigans

Did you people really think you could pull a fast one on President Donald Trump?
Our president has been winning negotiations his entire life (read: “The Art of the Deal”). Did you, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, think he was going to back away from the Wall just because you introduce some pathetic bills that do not include Wall funding?
President Trump got out ahead of the dirty Democrats’ sneak plays, making it clear through his own tweets, through his White House consigliere Mick Mulvaney, through his Freedom Caucus ally Mark Meadows, and through Mitch McConnell’s spokesman that he would not sign any bills that did not fund his Wall. They tried to sneak through Sheila Jackson-Lee’s bill to block Wall funding, disingenuously named the “Protect American Taxpayers and Secure Border Act,” without telling anyone. But that plan was exposed. So Pelosi had to appeal to the public.
Pelosi, 78, predictably tried to pitch her “package” of non-Wall bills to the Associated Press, because the clueless Democrats still think the mainstream media is an effective tool to create PR spin for their stupid objectives. It’s not. The American people hate the mainstream media. By the time news circulated of the Democrats’ bills, which they presumably still plan to pass on Thursday, the Republicans had already made them irrelevant.
The Democrats have no collateral in these negotiations. The mainstream media only has one narrative: Trump should be blamed for the shutdown. But here’s the thing: There’s no blame needed. They are the only ones who think a government shutdown is a bad thing, because everything they say is manufactured garbage talking points. Trump’s supporters want the shutdown to continue until we get a Wall. And even the “non-essential” government employees who aren’t getting paid for a while should be thankful to President Trump, because he is teaching them a lesson about how to improve their lives by making themselves more valuable to others. Why would anyone want to be known as “non-essential?” What a pathetic, undignified way to go through life. This is what the government system does to people. It beats them down.
President Trump is on a winning streak. Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney clearly knows what he’s doing — which is a welcome breath of fresh air from Reince Priebus, who is an establishment coward, John Kelly, who basically just tried to block Trump from having conversations with smart people and guard against him making any decisions, and Steve Bannon, who for some reason left out the fact that he told Jeff Sessions to recuse himself in the various books that he had people write about him. Jared Kushner, whose silly New York Observer ran a ridiculous hit piece trying to sandbag my excellent news website, should let Mick do his job without interfering too much, because Kushner has also been there from the beginning, during times when the White House was not exactly knocking it out of the park.
President Trump is a master once he learns how to hack the system, a wise man once told me. It seems like now is the time. Two years in, he is getting the hang of it. This government shutdown is an inspiring, galvanizing thing for his supporters. The only thing better would be a big magnificent Wall.
Trump has all the cards. He can close the entire southern border if he wants to. He can keep this shutdown going indefinitely. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer don’t know what to do. They think the fast-fading mainstream media will save them.
Chuck and Nancy have learned a pretty important lesson: Don’t underestimate President Donald J. Trump during deal-making time. Just hang on to your belongings and hope you make it out with some shred of dignity intact.

Why is a shut down even necessary? Having a shutdown is based on the assumption that U.S. gov't money (which of course comes form U.S. taxpayers) must be used to pay for the Wall.
But the fact is-- its Mexico who will pay for the Wall, not U/S. taxpayers! Just as Trump has said on numerous occasions.

Both the House and the Senate offered him the funding to reopen the government but without money for his xenophobic wall. If he demands that we fund the wall then the shutdown will continue for a very long time. That is entirely his choice and he takes the blame for the shutdown. The markets are all in the red as of noon EST, so Wall Street doesn't appear to be on his side.
Seems to me then , the border is working.
The house provided funding for the wall. The markets ended up in the green today.
And when did that happen?
The Dow started out deep in the red, went up and then back down and then barely finished in the positive at 4:00 pm. It was far from a positive day.
When did the House of Representatives offer money for the wall today? Pelosi made it very clear.
Then we who want it have no problem at all with making the shutdown last as long as there is no wall funding however long that might might be.
What don't like it when Trump pulls an Obama?
If the Dems don't feel like negotiating then the shutdown stays. Isn't that what we heard from the left when Obama was in charge?
Love the fact the Dems are trying to cut out border security completely now. OK to fund the rest of the government; but never that.

Of course they do. Most of them will still get their guvment checks and SNAP. Meanwhile, the workers who need their paychecks are thrown under Trump's bus.

They'd get paid the very same using money from the repealed tax cut for the 1% to rebuild our infrastructure that is currently held together with duct tape, wire, and happy thoughts.
Or they could compromise and either split the difference between 5.7b and 0 right down the middle allowing the money to be spent on the wall or they could make it part of a larger deal involving DACA and democrat priority infrastructure projects such as that tunnel to Manhattan that Schumer wants so badly and fund all of those projects in full. Schumer has to know that Trump will never prioritize his tunnel project which costs more than the whole wall 29b vs. 25b without getting the wall too.
Why would the Democrats fund the stupid wall? The GOP is already starting to fragment because of Trump and his wall, so Nancy has nothing to lose by saying no. She already has the ability to reopen the government without the wall.
No, she doesn’t have that power. When the government is reopened it will be at last years levels and prorated except for worker pay for the time missed. Just don’t expect the President to sign any bill regarding infrastructure projects in blue states unless the wall is part of the infrastructure bill that accompanies shutdown resolution. We will simply place a hold on every single democrat party priority the next two years until they give us the wall for one or more of theirs. We can and will gridlock the entire federal government to get the wall.
All spending must be approved by the HoR, so Nancy Pelosi and the DNC do have that power.
And anything that passes in her house must also pass in the senate and be signed or allowed to become law without signature by the President. The house only originates spending bills. It doesn’t make them law without consent of the senate and president. So a president could veto everything she passes in her house until they agree to pass something the president wants too.
Trump didn't write The Art Of The Deal. He's never written anything. The actual author of that book, Anthony Schwartz, has said, that if he knew then what he knows now he never would have participated in that farce. He did it solely for the money, and now deeply regrets that he helped promote a moron like Donald Trump.

We are finding in this shutdown that there are some portions of the government that we don’t miss at all and should be shutdown permanently.
You people disgust me. Chortling gleefully about the people who aren't able to get a paycheck - including our border patrol agents, who are forced to work without pay. You're not the one who couldn't get a marriage license in DC because the courts are closed, so you don't give a crap. You're not the one rescuing people in our National Parks because there are no rangers on duty - that would require too much compassion on your part, I suppose. You're not the one who traveled to tour Antietam Battlefield and learn about our history, only to find out that the buildings are closed.
Despicables apparently have no interest in culture and learning, so you don't care that our museums and the National Zoo are shut down. As is the total lack of consideration for all the small businesses who will never get repaid for the business they've lost because their customers aren't at work or, if they are, are not getting paid. In reviewing articles on the Big League Politics website it is clear that the sole mission is to promote the agenda of President Trump. Essentially, this could be classified as a propaganda media arm for the President. While there are nice examples of well sourced journalism on this website there are also unproven conspiracy type stories. For example, in one article the author is making the claim that Justice John Roberts was hacked by Obama officials as evidence of a Deep State conspiracy. The source of this audio is from two discredited public figures . In other stories, there is the use of conspiracy theorists as sources of information. In this story , they are relying on Infowars’ Alex Jones and fellow conspiracy theorist Roger Stone for information and opinion. Overall, the blog is well written, but with a strong right wing bias in story selection. Many stories are factual or at the very least rooted in fact, but there are some stories that are unproven with conclusions being drawn by the authors. These stories are propaganda at best and conspiracy theories at worst.
A factual search reveals some failed fact checks.

And yet I have another article up, written by an African American woman about all the good that has been done by Trump and Dr. Carson economically for the minority and impoverished communities across country via opportunity zones created under the Trump tax cut law and no one comments on the positive news piece.
Maybe you need to understand what non essential means in the case of federal employees. They are people employed in jobs that are not crucial to our health and safety such as gatekeepers to our national parks and monuments, scientists doing research, maritime workers, census counters and occupations that might not cause life threatening ramifications if not functioning. Deemed essential are trauma surgeons with the Veterans Administration and the Capitol Hill police force.
As with all things in the world of ill repute in the realms of the Trump and the flattened roses on the pavement the words from the movie "Django Unchained" ring even more true as they were uttered by Don Johnson--"Like that peckerwood down at the cotton gin."

The reason McConnell is doing that is to protect his Republican constituents. In many cases if he let the senate vote, some Republicans would be in a bind, as their vote would be open for all to see.
This way there's no problem for them--- they can say one thing to one audience, an opposite thing to another group....its easier to take contradictory positions and not have to take responsibility for it.
