‘You call yourselves The Resistance?’ Maher slams Dems for refusing to hold debates on Fox News … ‘grow a pair’
The “Real Time” host slammed the Democratic Party on his HBO show Friday, aiming his “New Rule” segment at the cowardly decision announced by the Democratic National Committee as he urged them to “grow a pair.”

Bill Maher had a blunt message for Democrats on their “terrible” decision to bar Fox News from hosting a 2020 primary debate.

The “Real Time” host slammed the Democratic Party on his HBO show Friday, aiming his “New Rule” segment at the cowardly decision announced by the Democratic National Committee as he urged them to “grow a pair.”

“Last week, the Democrats made a terrible decision when they announced that they had turned down Fox News’ offer to host one of their 2020 primary debates, saying Fox was nothing more than propaganda,” Maher explained.

“OK, so why not go on Fox News and tell them that! You want to be in the big leagues but you refuse to ever play an away game? You don’t like the questions that Fox News might ask, so you’re deciding to not take any questions at all?” Maher asked. “How very Trump of you!”

DNC chair Tom Perez  announced the decision  on the debates, pointing to “the inappropriate relationship between President [Donald] Trump, his administration and Fox News,” citing a story in The New Yorker alleging close ties between the president and several Fox News hosts.

“Recent reporting in the New Yorker…has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates,” Perez said. “Therefore, Fox News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates.”

Maher blasted the party for “running from a fight” which is something his GOP guests have never done.

“This is a fundamental problem with the Democratic Party: they look weak, running from a fight when they should be throwing punches,” he said.

“Republicans never shy away from coming on this show, and they come with a smile on their face despite knowing that the only people in the crowd cheering them on are the three campaign aides they brought with them,” he remarked.

Maher admonished Democrats to get out of their “echo chamber” and be more on the offense.

“You call yourselves The Resistance? Then fight behind enemy lines—that’s what a resistance does. That’s the difference between blowing up a tank and tweeting about it,” he exclaimed.  “Get out of your echo chamber and infiltrate theirs.”

Other Democrats had also condemned the DNC decision, as even former President Obama’s deputy chief of staff found the move just plain “silly.”

CNN’s Brian Stelter  delivered a hypocritical spin on why the choice was right, slamming the network where “every night in prime time, Democrats are dehumanized.”

Fox News Channel had responded to the DNC decision with a request to reconsider, with Fox News Senior Vice President and Managing Editor Bill Sammon noting the benefit of having Democratic candidates appear on the network as a way to reach certain voters. President Trump also slammed the DNC and  threatened to do the same  with the “Fake News Networks.”

Maher is right!   The resistance is a joke. They are cowards and really do need to grow a pair.

Absolutely.  Let FOX have a couple of debates on their platform.  Lets see what they got?

That would be the logical thing to do.

Instead of bipartisan cooperation, the gap between the political giants is growing wider and wider.  What can be foreseen for the USA, because this does not look too pretty, will especially be when the proliferation of guns start to do the talking.  There are already examples of that, aren't there?

There is no reason to resort to the use of weapons in our political system.

No reason is correct, but examples have already happened.  Giffords, the lawmaker at a baseball game, and the shooter at the temple had a political rant about immigrants, and I'm sure there are more I don't know about.

Now that I think of it, what about the Kennedys, or go back even farther - Lincoln?

So the GOP shouldn’t let the msm channels or networks host any of our primary debates?

Let the GOP decide its still a free country. Their audience already all watch Fox anyway, at least no one would miss it then.

There are far more GOP members than there are Fox News viewers. By the time we have primary debates again in 2024, the technology changes will likely mean that there will be many more platforms to mass carry a GOP debate to the public beyond the msm and Fox.  Though most likely several or most of them won’t be reported on here as they will be rated “questionable” sources by MBFC.
