When conservatives gathered behind closed doors for conferences of the right-wing Council for National Policy, their talks had a common theme: Voter suppression.

Conservatives met for three days in February and another three in August, maskless regardless of Virginia state policies, to discuss election strategies and other goals,   The Washington Post   reports . One August speaker was Charlie Kirk, the founder of the college conservative group Turning Point USA. At one point, Kirk pinned college campus shutdowns on Democrats, and then called those purported decisions a "very foolish thing" because it's going to lose them opportunities to "harvest" left-leaning college students' votes,   video of the event obtained by the   Post   reveals . "Please, keep the campuses closed, it's a great thing," he said.

Tom Fitton, president of the conservative group Judicial Watch, was more explicit. He alleged Democrats were "war-gaming" a plan to make House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) president, and used that as a call for conservative action against mail-in ballots. "We need to stop those ballots from going out, and I want the lawyers here to tell us what to do," Fitton said in video obtained by the   Post . J. Christian Adams, a former Justice Department official, meanwhile told attendees to oppose mail-in voting and "be not afraid of the accusations that you're a voter suppressor, you're a racist and so forth."

Read more about what CNP attendees had to say about voting at   The Washington Post .

I know you're trying to turn that statement into meaning something it doesn't, but it is true.  What's also true is that the higher the number of voters, the more Democrats win, this is why Republicans try so much for voter suppression.

Republicans use fear mongering to get out the voters (they're coming to take your guns).

Democrats use no such dramatic steps to lie and encourage voting.  However 2 years ago, and this year, Trump is motivating more people to vote than ever before based on early voting numbers.

Trump Again Admits Republicans Will Lose in 2020 if States Expand Mail-in Voting

President  Donald Trump  on Monday erroneously accused Nevada’s governor of unlawfully seizing power after the legislature passed a bill over the weekend that will send all active voters in the state mail-in ballots. He promised to challenge the state measure in court. The president also – for at least the  second time  in recent months – openly admitted that increasing access to voting ahead of the 2020 election will virtually ensure Republicans are defeated at the polls.

Trump administration asks Supreme Court to invalidate Obamacare

“No further analysis is necessary; once the individual mandate and the guaranteed-issue and community-rating provisions are invalidated, the remainder of the ACA cannot survive,”

We heard that and it was the basis for the mandate portion. Those who didn't want insurance were fined to make up for the fictional shortfalls that would be caused by those healthy people not opting in. It was the basis for its success

Not confused at all..................I know the difference. It is mostly those on the left side of the aisle who like to call it Health Care. Isn't now, never was. It's always been about insurance. You see that is why that "will be denied healthcare" shtick didn't resonate any farther than it did. One can still get Healthcare without the ACA mandate. Just more expensive to do so

Just pointing out that "estimates" are subjective.

Obviously!  However if you want to dispute the "estimates", you provide counter information.

You can link to the study and see how they came up with their "estimate", yet you provide no evidence that disputes their study.  Their "estimated" number of deaths is just as likely to be under the actual number as over it.

So if you want to dispute the study, provide links to other, equally researched, studies to do so.  Otherwise it is only your opinion and the study, which actually researched evidence, out weighs your personal opinion.

These morons can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that if the ACA is repealed by the SCOTUS, there is nothing to amend and therefore the bill is moot. Republicans know that if everyone votes, they lose.

That’s why they have spent 50 years

  • fighting against the Voting Rights Act
  • purging people from voting lists
  • closing precincts in minority neighborhoods
  • enacting restrictive voter ID laws
  • prohibiting felons from voting
  • stopping early voting and mail-in ballots
  • making sure election day isn’t a national holiday
  • killing any bill designed to prevent Russian interference
  • making sure no paper ballots are used
  • getting rid of election finance laws
  • fighting agai nst abolishing the electoral college
  • promoting gerrymandering

And there is very little of it because our public servants that oversee the elections are honest, hard working people just trying to do their jobs and do them right (99.99% of the time, there is always that one...)

The amount of verifiable voter fraud in the US is so small it isn't even worth acknowledging. Honestly, tracking down the one one-millionth of a percent of fraudulent ballots is almost a waste of government resources.
