I sent in my mail-in ballot about three weeks ago, and was notified by USPS that it had been received by the Country Registrar, and has been counted. I have voted this way for the last 15+ years.

You know Washington State has been voting by solely mail in votes for over 11 years now.  NO PROBLEMS.

In Colorado, I believe, the last two out of three votes, mail in votes, were majority republican.

I have never had any problem with my mail-in ballots. Never had one lost. All have been counted. However, I send my ballot back the next day after I get it. I already know who and what I am voting for or against, so it only takes me a few minutes to complete my ballot and have it ready to send back the next day. So I see no reason not to do the same this time.

IIRC, Trump himself votes via a mail in ballot! (I believe he may have changed that this time because it was better optics).

IIRC, he's a registered voter in NY-- but since he spends almost all his time either at Mar-a-Lago (in Florida) or in Washington, he vhas to vote by mail-in ballot to the state he's registered in-- NY!

The mass media, meaning the bulk of the media out there in space and and all their surrogates, clearly leans heavily left.   I'm talking ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc.   Fox is the only more conservative outlet close to the same size and reporting scope to those.   Townhall and the Federalist are like HS newspapers by comparison.

Don't expect you to agree, i know you see it differently and that is still very hard for me to believe for a person who claims to be independent.

I have to qualify my vote on the last question. Some of my local races were unopposed and were republicans. There was no opportunity for write-ins and the way the machine was designed it seemed to me that one had to vote for the unopposed candidate or you would never get out of there. Meaning, your whole ballot was scrapped because you refused to vote for the republican.

I think there was a way to bypass all of that so I didn't have to vote for the repub but it wasn't clearly marked. Have I mentioned I live in a red town, red County, red State, and our Sec of State is a Repub?

A third party is a waste of time imo unless we first do away with the two party system, the RNC and the DNC.

A non partisan primary to reduce the field and then a top few vote getters run in the main election on their own merits.   Not merits that are spoon feed to them by a party.

Top voter in each state could carry that states electoral college.   It could work but not until we trash the existing system.

My vote for Perot in 92 taught me that.

Nah, i gave you my reason for why its a waste of time.

Clinton won in 92 with the lowest percentage of the popular vote in 80 years and since.   And it's not even close.   The third party candidate, Perot, made that happen when he got nearly 20% of the popular vote.   The most for a third party candidate in 80 years as well.   See how that timeline lines up?

He never had a chance to beat Clinton or Bush given our current system.   Had i known that then, i wouldn't have wasted my vote on him.   Which is exactly what i did.   Waste my vote in 92.

I had 4 choices and a write in to choose from on the ballot here , the usual GOP or dem , a libertarian candidate , and a Independent candidate , not sure why the green party wasnt on there .

thing is unless tit is one of the big 2 , likelyhood is most would say any of the last 3 are non starters . here that depends on how one looks at it and what they want to achieve.

Wyo has not gone to the Dem candidate i am told for the last 11 or 13 presidential election cycles  so a vote for the dem is usually considered a wasted vote , just like a 3rd party vote , thing is it doesnt accomplish anything , the 2 parties still split the fed funds for elections and 3rd party gets nothing .

way i look at it if im going to waste a vote per others views lets try and do something with it , like get the needed percentages to get that 3rd party matching fed election funds . and since i know ahead of time usually how the state will vote , even if my vote doesnt matter , i can try and make it actually do something .

Acknowledging that I am not Sean, I’ll prove it. Happy to.

Fascinating inquiry.

1992:  Clinton received 43.0% of the popular vote. And won.

As Sean indicated, you have to go back exactly 80 years from that election to find a lower winning percentage.

1912 : Woodrow Wilson received 41.8% of the popular vote.

Other winners since 1912 with their percentage of the popular vote . . .

1916: Woodrow Wilson, 49.2%. 1920: Warren G. Harding, 60.3%. 1924: Calvin Coolidge, 54%. 1928: Herbert Hoover, 58.2%. 1932: Franklin D. Roosevelt, 57.4%. 1936: FDR, 60.8%. 1940: FDR, 54.7%. 1944: FDR: 53.4%. 1948: Harry Truman, 49.6%. 1952: Dwight D. Eisenhower, 55.2%. 1956: Ike again, 57.4%. 1960: John F. Kennedy, 49.72%. 1964: Lyndon Johnson, 61.1%. 1968: Richard Nixon (the closest one to Clinton), 43.4%. 1972: Richard Nixon, 60.7%. 1976: Jimmy Carter, 50.1%. 1980: Ronald Reagan, 50.7%. 1984: Ronald Reagan, 58.8%. 1988: George H.W. Bush, 53.4%.

After 1992:

1996: Clinton, 49.2%. 2000: George W. Bush, 47.9%. 2004: George W. Bush, 50.7%. 2008: Barack Obama, 52.9%. 2012: Barack Obama, 51.1%. 2016: Donald Trump, 46.1%.

It’s kind of amazing how many presidents have been elected with less than 50% of the popular vote. I count 8 in the last 108 years. I think a lot of people assume that the president does - or should always - receive more than 50% of the vote, but clearly pluralities in the popular vote are a lot more common than people think.

Vote early! Vote often!

For all the import elections have, it doesn't matter to me.

PS: If you hear how many times Trump votes, do tell us!

I posted a video of an Indian Relay Race before. It's three one mile laps and you change horses after each lap and that is really where the most danger lies.

It was hilarious. A spoof on the best frybread in AZ with all the tribes competing. It shows  how important frybread is to each of the tribes. The mythical title of the ''Best Frybread''....

Noomokis (grandmother) guard their receipts for frybread with their lives.

BTW, it's a good thing that the Ojibwe we're in the contest cuz we make the very best fry bread in the US.

Voted this morning at 7:50 a.m. In and out in 5 minutes.

Actually had to go the office today.  I now have to go once a week.

Felt weird going there since the last time I was there was March 19th.

Was at work at 6, left work at 4. Hubs and I went to our polling place around 5, in and out 15 minutes! Took an extra few to read, and reread some of the amendments here for Ga because they word it so confusing! Glad we read up on them beforehand!

Unless there is a shitload of conservative lurkers here that voted, which is doubtful, there is no way almost as many here voted republican as voted democrat.

No way .....

NT polls tally unique votes from NT members (and only NT members).   Whatever numbers appear here are a result of individual logged in NT members casting a vote.    The poll is a function provided by the NT platform (jamroom).

So what are you alleging ... that people are lying in this poll, that the poll is rigged, some other bizarre conspiracy theory?

It is a fucking poll for our own entertainment.   The results are simply used to satisfy curiousity.

Not sure why you seem to be getting so upset over a simple observation made on a discussion board.   Some latent hostility perhaps?

Again, I made a very clear comment based on my observation of this site.   Not my problem if you are having trouble with it.

To reiterate, unless there is a bunch on conservative lurkers here who voted rep, it is extremely doubtful the ratio of rep to dem is accurate.   That is my opinion based on observation of NT.

I could really care less if you agree with that or not and/or chose to not embrace the clarity offered within.

Unless there is a shitload of conservative lurkers here

That might actually be the case. I think conservatives generally don’t look to be as public about their politics as liberals do. We have seen this for a long time. The term “silent majority” goes back a long ways. Given the hostility and violence of modern politics, more people than ever appear to be reticent to state their preferences publicly just to protect themselves from harassment.

I am painting in extremely broad strokes here, of course, and basing this on my own observations. In recent years, we have seen polls dramatically under predict conservative voting, and you might be seeing the same phenomenon at play with this poll.
