Israel expands ground operations, the US passes migration milestone and Iowa notes.
"We will continue the war until we achieve all our goals, and we can’t achieve these goals without the ground maneuvering," Netanyahu said. "There are no other ways to achieve these goals but to win, and there is no way to win other than ground maneuvering."

The weeklong pause is now over, and Israel has resumed its campaign to eradicate Hamas. During Israel's initial campaign in northern Gaza one battalion on the Hamas terror group's 5 battalions was wiped out along with a few Hamas leaders. Hundreds of Hamas locations were struck this morning.

According to the Washington Post:

  • At least 15,523 people have been killed in Gaza and 41,316 have been wounded since the war began, the Gaza Health Ministry said. At least 1,200 people were killed in Israel during the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas.

  • The long-running corruption trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu resumed Monday, after officials declared the emergency situation at Israel’s courts to be over. In 2019, he became Israel’s first prime minister to be indicted while in office when he was charged with  bribery, fraud and breach of trust .

  • U.S. officials are looking ahead to who will run the Palestinian territory after the battle is over. The Biden administration says a “revitalized” Palestinian Authority should govern the enclave, but the idea is deeply unpopular with Israel — and many Palestinians,  The Washington Post reports .

A U.S. warship in the Red Sea on Sunday  shot down at least three drones,  at least one of which early assessments indicated was launched from a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen, according to a U.S. military statement. The ship was responding to distress calls after four attacks against three commercial vessels, U.S. Central Command said.

In other news:

"Analysis by Steven Camarota and Karen Zeigler at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) revealed that in October the foreign-born population reached almost 50 million, increasing by 4.5 million foreign-born residents since Biden took office in January 2021.

Put another way, the Biden administration has added more immigrants to the nation’s population than the annual number of U.S. births in fewer than three years. Similarly, the growth of the foreign-born population under Biden exceeds the resident populations of 25 states. “At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history.”

Unlimited L's on X: "Foreign-Born Population Hits 49.5 Million Under Biden – Largest Ever in American History Analysis by Steven Camarota and Karen Zeigler at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) revealed that in October the foreign-born population reached almost 50 million, increasing by 4.5… https://t.co/tvm36x4UfS" / X (twitter.com)

By  Steven A. Camarota  and  Karen Zeigler  on November 30, 2023

The Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey (CPS) shows that the total foreign-born or immigrant population (legal and illegal) was 49.5 million in October 2023 — a 4.5 million increase since President Biden took office and a new record high. At 15 percent, the foreign-born share of the U.S. population is also the highest ever recorded in American history. As the debate rages over the ongoing border crisis, this finding is important because administrative numbers such as border encounters or even legal immigrant arrivals do not measure the actual size of the immigrant population, which is what ultimately determines immigration’s impact on the country.

Among the findings:

  • In October 2023, the CPS shows that 15 percent of the U.S. population is now foreign-born — higher than any U.S. government survey or census has ever recorded.
  • The 49.5 million foreign-born residents (legal and illegal) in October 2023 is also a new record high.
  • Since President Biden took office in January 2021, the foreign-born population has grown by 4.5 million — larger than the individual populations of 25 U.S. states.
  • Based on our prior estimates of illegal immigrants, more than half (2.5 million) of the 4.5 million increase in the foreign-born population since January 2021 is likely due to illegal immigration. If adjusted for those missed by the survey, the increase would be larger.
  • The 4.5 million increase overall and the 2.5 million increase in illegal immigrants are both net figures. The number of new arrivals was significantly higher, but was offset by outmigration and natural mortality among the foreign-born already here.
  • The foreign-born population has grown on average by 137,000 a month since President Biden took office, compared to 42,000 a month during Trump’s presidency before Covid-19 hit, and 68,000 a month during President Obama’s two terms.
  • The scale of immigration is so high that it appears to have made the new Census Bureau population projections, published on November 9 of this year, obsolete. The bureau projected that the foreign-born share was not supposed to hit 15 percent until 2033.
  • The largest percentage increases since January 2021 are for immigrants from South America (up 28 percent); Central America (up 25 percent); Sub-Saharan Africa (up 21 percent); the Caribbean (up 20 percent); and the Middle East (up 14 percent).
  • Immigrants from all of Latin America increased by 2.9 million since January 2021, accounting for 63 percent of the total increase in the foreign-born.
  • While a large share of the recent foreign-born growth is due to illegal immigration, legal immigrants still account for three-fourths of the total foreign-born population.

In October 2023, the Foreign-Born Share Was the Highest in History (cis.org)

Iowa Notes:

Ron DeSantis completed his campaign promise to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties. He picked up some vital endorsements, debated Gavin Newsom in his spare time and made a thoughtful speech, which listed his accomplishments as Governor. He has made a major investment in the Iowa Caucuses with a key super PAC investing more than $16 million in advertising and more on building a campaign organization for DeSantis. He not only faces the challenge of the former President's huge lead but must also contend with establishment candidate Nikki Haley's rise based on one debate performance.

While DeSantis was delivering his prudent speech, Donald Trump simultaneously delivered what appeared to be an unscripted speech, which like all his speeches related to the feelings of average hard-working Americans:

LOL.

Our modern Benedict Arnold said it in the speech you are bragging about.

Trump cultists never do, or can, defend Trump. They either ignore the mountain of facts that show he is a traitor, or they say "Biden".

Whether or not someone thinks Biden should be president , everyone in this country should KNOW that we cant allow Trump to be. Donald Trump approved a plan (the Eastman memo) for him to be declared president on Jan 6th by Mike Pence.  Game over.

I'd say that is inflammatory.  Late last week we heard a lot of stuff about comments being inflammatory. Do they only apply to democrats being cursed and smeared?

Whether or not someone thinks Biden should be president , everyone in this country should KNOW that we cant allow Trump to be.

S peaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Saturday boosted the House GOP’s efforts to hold a vote on an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, saying Congress “has a duty” to bring the issue to the floor.

“The evidence is so clear you cannot look away,” Johnson said in an interview on  Fox & Friends Weekend . “The Constitution requires the House to follow the truth where it leads. We have a duty to do this. We cannot stop the process.”

1.  It is inevitable that Hamas will be defeated and surely even Hamas knows that.  They deserve it, even more so because they do not consider themselves responsible for the massive loss of civilian lives and even greater number of injuries.  If they had even a glimmer of integrity, in order to save further loss of the innocent people they are responsible for they would surrender to end the war to end the bloodletting.  Damn them to hell.  Damn the people around the world who are supporting Hamas with demonstrations and protests and anti-Semitic attacks and vandalism and university students, faculty and administrations that are making the life of Jewish students a living hell.  NOBODY IS CALLING FOR HAMAS TO SURRENDER TO END THE WAR!!!!!!!   WHY?????

2.  Americans are freaking out because their nation has a 15% foreign born population?  Canada has a 25% foreign born population and nobody is freaking out about it.  My Canadian born son who has lived in the USA for the past 17 years now has dual citizenship - Canadian and American.  He has a successful career in the USA.  Do the NT Americans want him to go back to where he came from?

3.  I think DeSantis is toast.  If there were any Republican candidate presently vying for the job that I would choose it would probably be Nikki Haley.  But IMO the best person to start to heal America's troubled democracy would be Liz Cheney, but I'm sure that very few would agree with me.  Integrity and principles mean shit when it comes to politics, and after all, what do I know?  I thought Ann Richards would have been a fabulous POTUS.

My opinions, and I really don't care how much anyone disagrees with them, and I know they will.
