The latest slogan

The latest slogan
“What they’re doing in the executive branch. I’ve been asked so many times, aren’t you uncomfortable with this? No, I’m not,” Johnson said, “because when Congress, for example, appropriates dollars for the executive branch to use, we build in not only in the spirit of the law, but in the letter of law, a broad amount of discretion for how that is used.”

Link to quote: Mike Johnson to Courts: ‘Step Back’ From Trump’s Dismantling

The left has a new slogan: "Constitutional crisis."   Tune into any of the leftist media tv stations and you will hear it. Suddenly, since January 20th, the Executive branch of government has lost its powers. The left has gone judge shopping again looking for Obama and Biden judges to slow down the Trump agenda. As Vice President Vance recently pointed out “judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.” I expect they will continue since they have little else but to delay the will of the people.

The President's point man for cutting federal government waste reported into a busy White House recently, as his 4-year-old son stole the spotlight.

12themorning-nl-doge-jumbo.jpg 12themorning-nl-doge-jumbo.jpg

After exposing the USAID agency, which btw was created by Executive Order and totally uncontrolled, Musk is looking into the unchecked Obama agency known as The Consumer Protection Agency as well as the politicized Department of Education. Musk’s team announced it was cutting nearly a billion dollars in grants and contracts from the Education Department. Everywhere we are seeing expenditures that most people knew nothing about and likely wouldn't approve of.

Other White House business:

The President met with the king of Jordan, who promised to take in sick Palestinian children but still refused to take in the Palestinian people. Trump would like to see the Palestinians have a homeland away from Isreal. For some reason the Palestinians would rather live in rubble than move away from Israeli borders. Egypt and Jordan want no part of them. Trump has highlighted the obvious.
The Palestinian Authority, in an overture to Trump, ended a yearslong practice of paying the families of Palestinians jailed or killed by Isreal.

Narendra Modi, India’s prime minister, is preparing to visit President Trump in hopes of reducing friction by cooperating on trade and with U.S. deportation efforts.

Marc Fogel, an American teacher held captive for more than three years was suddenly freed by the Russians. An appreciative Fogel then met Trump at the White House.

12themorning-nl-feb6-qwhp-jumbo.jpg

The pressure is on Russia to come to the bargaining table. The President has been talking with both Zelensky and Putin. The holdup may be related to the intense fighting in the Kursk region. Both sides want control of the area ahead of expected peace talks.

Confirmation votes:

Today, the Senate is poised to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence.

12themorning-nl-gabbard-jumbo.jpg 12themorning-nl-gabbard-jumbo.jpg

Gabbard, a former democrat and veteran, incurred the wrath of Hillary Clinton when Gabbard blamed US policy for Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Gabbard represented a district in Hawaii and has been in the Army for nearly 22 years. She served two tours in the Middle East and one in Africa and is still a member of the Army Reserve. Gabbard intends to make the intelligence agencies more transparent and less politicized.

Soon the Senate will have to vote on Kash Patel.

12themorning-nl-patel-jumbo.jpg

Patel is feared by many in the rogue leadership at the FBI. If Patel is confirmed, we will see some accountability for all that has taken place from Comey to Wray. Many fear him, however he told a Senate panel that he would ignore politics and follow the law.

In other news:

Financial firms are rolling back their DEI initiatives. One, Goldman Sachs, will drop its rule that corporate boards it advises must include women and minorities. The state of Missouri is suing Starbuck for its discrimination based on DEI.

Benjamin Netanyahu told Hamas that Israel would resume military operations in the Gaza strip if the group did not release hostages by Saturday.

A federal judge halted Trump’s effort to cut $4 billion in research funding for universities, cancer centers and hospitals. Another judge froze part of the plan earlier on Monday.

Religious groups sued the Department of Homeland Security over a new policy that permits arrests of immigrants inside houses of worship.

Trump signed an executive order to give Musk’s government-slashing team, DOGE, vast reach over the shape & scope of Civil Service. It also directs agency officials to plan for “large scale” cuts to their work force.

Good morning.

Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) wrapped up comments this week to a crowd by calling for them to “fuck” President  Donald Trump .

The meltdown of the left seems to be many times more than it was 4-8 years ago.

I think the biggest problem they have is that 70 percent of the American people approve of how Trump is handling his second term.

Since most on the left hate the American people and embrace illegal aliens, we will probably watch these meld downs daily for 4 years.

I think I heard it from Dana Perino that the dems keep taking the wrong side of  90/10 issues.  The dems fighting everything Trump does even on issues that Americans overwhelmingly agree with is shooting themselves in the head.  Hard to believe they can't understand that.

If there's a common sense question, Democrats take the anti-common sense side of it and have been doing it for a while. They are in thrall  to special interest groups that exist to push crazy ideas.

Basically, since 1994 they've been moving  from trying to capture the middle by mixing liberalism with pragmatism  to straight out leftist authoritarianism.

In the good ol' days, your firebrand local extremist would sit down for breakfast with his buddies at a greasy spoon, and if he started spouting nonsense the other guys would say stuff like "are you sure about this?"  or "do you hear yourself"?

Now, the internet enables nutters to find each other online.  They're usually terrible at math, so they convince themselves that a few hundred of them constitutes a movement.

It's telling that the very imbeciles that are crying "Constitutional crisis" are the very imbeciles that are ok with Biden's "Debt Forgiveness" that the SCOTUS deemed unconstitutional, censorship of the people on social media.

Gold and precious metals are the classic hedge against inflation and have historically peaked in advance of economic recessions. (past due) By the normal indicators of price to earnings ratios most stocks are way overvalued. Fighting inflation is never painless and Trump has zero tolerance. In the end economics is just math. The amount of money is only one factor. The circulation of money is what concerns markets with uncertainty and risk. Pending trade wars and unprecedented cuts in federal spending are burning fuses at this point. My point about record gold prices is that they are a leading indicator. Trump is already baking bad numbers into the mix.

The stock market would absolutely respond if it (collectively) anticipates eminent economic collapse.   It would not collapse on the possibility of same over the next few years.   That mere possibility will be factored into the market but would not cause a collapse.

Now if we had something major happen like the removal of the USD as the world's principal reserve currency, then that is something the market would immediately react to, and harshly.

The market is skittish, but the events need to be more near term.

You are viewing this in overly simplistic terms.

Sensible reallocation of money in anticipation of historic indicators is hardly a panic. It happens incrementally all the time. Though I actually have a degree in economics, one does not need one to understand that trade wars and drastic cuts in government spending will result in less profits and economic contractions. There are "Laws of Economics". My professional career was as factory rep for a major international manufacturing corporation. I guarantee you that the crazy shit that Trump is doing right now is the #1 topic in corporate boardrooms around the world. And, not in a good way. No country has ever won a trade war. All sides lose. Panic? No. But, I have reapportioned investments...

will result in less profits and economic contractions.

So... not a "collapse" then?

Maybe that was just a touch melodramatic?

No country has ever won a trade war.

China definitely won the one with us.  Not through tariffs, though.

I suggest you invest everything in Trump's crypto schemes...

Imagine serving Democratic Presidents running crypto grifts!

Sounds like great advice.  I'll have to move money out of Dutch tulips... jrSmiley_7_smiley_image.png

Imagine serving Democratic Presidents running crypto grifts!

That's so far down my list of "crazy shit I really can't believe is actually happening" I haven't even thought about it.

The friends and the family of rich and powerful people have always been quite legally given financial opportunities they did not earn merely for providing access to power. It has been a problem for Presidents since at least John Adams. Nobody has ever done a damn thing about it. That said, Joe and Jill Biden's taxes are public going back for fifty years and try as they may the gop never nailed them for an ill gotten or unreported dollar. The same for Bill and Hillary Clinton. No President has ever gone all in on the grift like Trump is. I cannot imagine a sitting President and his wife and kids, of either party, actively promoting and  selling personal crypto schemes. Maybe you should think about it. If Hunter Biden getting a corporate board seat bothered you, you should think about it...

Stating the obvious here, but professional politicians with tax attorneys are not actually going to reveal criminal activity or corruption in their tax returns.  The idea that Trump's are some window into fraudulent or criminal activity is nonsense.  That is not to say there isn't fraud or criminal activity... just that he will not have reported it to the US Govt.

I cannot imagine a sitting President and his wife and kids, of either party, actively promoting and  selling personal crypto schemes.

Me neither, but as I've already said it's just one drop in a hurricane of WTF.

Maybe you should think about it.

As soon as the tulip trade settles.  Please tell me an economist understands the reference.

If Hunter Biden getting a corporate board seat bothered you

They have yet to work out a scale with which to measure my indifference about Hunter Biden.

Democrats are constipated over the Constitution?  Especially after Biden ignored the courts over immigration, debt forgiveness, and free rides for NATO?  That turd won't float.

Yes, as any patriotic American should be, but sure, let's hear what a Republican who voted for a convicted felon to run our country has to say...

Especially after Biden ignored the courts over immigration, debt forgiveness, and free rides for NATO?

Yeah, that's a whole lot of rightwing radio bullshit that has nothing to do with the constitution.

That turd won't float.

True, your bullshit claims sank almost as fast as you posted them.

It’s not constipation.
It’s chronic butthurt.
