COUNTDOWN to Nov. 5th

COUNTDOWN to Nov. 5th

Kamala Harris’ opponent, former president Donald Trump, has saddled up a horse called “Chaos” for his his final stretch ride. It’s so Trumpian it shouldn’t come as a shock. Chaos has always been his friend. Create a crisis today so people forget yesterday’s crisis and tomorrow’s even more egregious lunacy seems comparatively normal. Dominate headlines because chaos always commands attention. After all, imagine you are an assignment editor somewhere, do you want 1000 words or 5 minutes of video on a rational argument about some policy issue or on Holyshitwhathefuckwasthatcraziness?

Trump’s mad dash is also being amped up by the fact that he know that if he loses he could actually go to jail. So he will say or do anything—up to and including, don’t you doubt this for a minute, sending America into the throes of a civil war if it might keep his expansive ass out of the penitentiary.

He lies. He howls. He does something he thinks is dancing but isn’t. He accuses. He rants. He froths at the mouth. He compares himself to Jesus.

Re: Senator Lisa Murkowski. She really can't be classidfied as a "Conservative" or as a "Liberal" ("Progressive"). She taken vary varied positions on various issues.

IIRC, a while back she ran for the Republican candidate for Senator-- and lost. So she ran as an independent in the general election.

But what I found interesting was-- after that, running as an independent, against both the Republican as well as the Democratic nominees-- she won the election!

Just found this:

Much of the Arctic, where Inuit live, became part of Canada in the 1880s. Canadian law did not mention Inuit voting rights until the 1930s, when these rights were denied.

Inuit got the right to vote in 1950.

As the groundwork has already been laid in contesting the results, let us be clear in knowing that the process works. To deny the integrity of our elections, in desperate preemptive action, is to deny our heritage of free and fair participation in the democratic process. Now more than ever, your vote will never be more important.

And a belated happy birthday to you, JR…your passion is commendable.

These women need a 'man' - because they are KEPT .

i am pretty sure girls and women have given up on the notion of being simple 'play-things' for their 'man'  to come home to after work!

True.

I remember it well-- here's what happened:

Larry Hogan, a moderate Republican who was the governor of the bordering state of Maryland at the time, when he saw what was happening, immediately put the MD National Guard on alert-- and told them to be ready to quickly move into The District when he gave the word. And they were totally prepared.

But, IIRC, that required approval from the Pentagon. The head of The Pentagon at that time was a Trump loyalist. So he procrastinated, allowing the insurrectionists to do their dirty work..

(I don't remeber the exact details of what happened next, but somehow the MD National Guard got the OK and moved in rapidly).

When the Republican insurrectionists saw the Guard approaching they rapidly fled the Capital....and the attempted insurrection failed.

After seeing Trump's claim that if he loses if will be the fault of "the Jews" I was curious-- so I googled and found that Jews make up less than 2.5 % of the U.S. population.

(That number is from 2020 and as a percentage of the population the number of Jews has been declining fairly rapidly-- so it smaller than that now).

So Trump's claim is totally inaccurate.

Writing on X, former Trump Department of Homeland Security official Elizabeth Neumann broke down why she does not want to see her one-time boss return to the Oval Office.

"As someone who served in the Trump administration, I experienced the chaos firsthand," she wrote. "I dealt with the fallout of his lack of self-control and poor decisions. I watched his dehumanizing rhetoric lead to increases in hate crimes and acts of domestic terrorism. I watched as my bosses respectfully explained why he could not do certain things, because it was illegal or unconstitutional -- until they were fired for saying 'no' too often."

She then went on to talk about the way that Trump "praised our enemies and undermined our allies" while at the same time disparaging American military veterans.

Jamison reports, "The critical messages, shared with The Post by their recipient on the condition of anonymity because of concerns about retaliation, cast doubt on Vance's oft-recited account of how and when he embraced Trumpism. They were written years after Vance's previously reported remarks attacking Trump, such as his statements in 2016 that Trump was 'reprehensible,' 'cultural heroin' and possibly 'America's Hitler'…. The messages show that Vance still took a dim view of Trump's achievements long after 2016 — and after almost four years of observing how the man he now calls 'the best president of my lifetime' behaved in office." Vance privately said Trump 'failed to deliver' in 2020: He 'will probably lose' - Alternet.org

Trump Suggests Putin Wants to End War, as Zelensky Looks On

“I’m sure President Putin wants it to stop,” Donald Trump said of the Russia-Ukraine war on Friday. President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine stressed that the war shouldn’t have been started.

27election-live-trump-zelensky-ckmq-articleLarge.jpg?quality=75&auto=webp&disable=upscale

Body language is 'everything' in that photo. Zelensky needs to play nice, but I can only imagine the things that this man as seen , read , and experiences since becoming president of Ukraine. . . that really makes a 'repeat' presidency for Donald all the more difficult to stand beside Crooked Donald (the Louse who would give this man's home land away).

BTW, though I know the situations are not the same. . . we can all see how. . . 'complicated' it is for Donald to let the smallest matter go in his own (un)professional and personal life—the man has 'scores' of lawyers and many series of court cases—starting up and continuing through the appeals process. . . and beyond.

How the hell would Crooked Donald feel if Mexico or Canada annexed (a red state) Montana or North Dakota? He would not accept that. . .indeed Crooked Donald would never stop talking about the Mexicans or Canadians who crossed the border to 'assault' and cause injury to the U.S.!

So what is Donald up to? He wants to end this with Machiavellian expediency because the rush would make him look like he is "what's happening" in the world today. . . and not somebody who has "jumped the shark."

Trump "walked into North Korea":

Indeed he did!

Trump: I want ‘my people’ to ‘sit up at attention’ like in North Korea

When asked about whether Kim would be visiting the White House any time soon, Trump responded “it could happen.” He then went on to praise the dictator for being a strong leader.

In the wake of Trump’s summit with Kim in Singapore earlier this week, the president has called Kim “talented” and a “funny guy” with a “great personality”.

Ccomments that have sparked a backlash because of the atrocities Kim is accused of carrying out on his own people, including starvation and widespread imprisonment.

Trump continued to express nice thoughts about Kim on Friday, telling reporters the two “really hit it off” during the summit and that “we have a very good relationship with North Korea.”

It reminds me of the use of songs (being sued by Isaac Hayes son for improper use of "Hold on I'm coming") without proper permission. Improper preparation for 'duty' and being irresponsible is indicative of being unfit to serve as vice-president and president!

Certainly true in my adult lifetime.   Although it is more difficult to speak of the others in history, chances are that they were all more intelligent given the requirements for office prior to Trump.

Hard to imagine the historical electorate support Trump as a candidate, much less nominee, much less President.

The 2024 electorate appears to have carved out a historical low-bar for who would be considered for PotUS.

When did conservatives begin hating more freedoms?

When did freedom become a dirty/nasty word to conservatives?

As it turns out generally speaking conservatives have been bitching about the changes 'modernization' of the country for well over 50 years plus. These same folks have bitched about and against their own "moderate' run-of-the-mill conservative presidents and their selected conservative members that would ascend to the high court with a strict conservative outlook only to moderate/soften their opining and 'votes' once there.

Believe it or not. MAGA/trumpists and Donald 'found' each other. Here was an unprincipled, for all intents and purposes- unchecked fool, who auditioned for the role of GOP 'head' and presidential candidate who would do whatever it takes him to do to be remembered as anything but a LOSER. (Albeit it Crooked Donald will be remembered historically in nasty terms-just like his friend and confidant Roy Cohn. . . . What a disaster.)

Some conservatives want Crooked Donald. They know what/when/where/how/who Crooked Donald is. And they want him. This is no accident. Three times is the charm. As in they have selected Crooked Donald to be standard-bearer for the GOP on purpose. Indeed, they deliberately and with malice swept up anybody ("debris") that got/gets in Crooked Donald's way.

Let Crooked Donald be 'crooked.' It's A-OKAY' as long as he don't hurt a fellow trumpist!

There are too many in the electorate who have a very distorted understanding of political reality.    Many are just stubborn, simplistic voters who are going to vote for Trump because of some cultish view of him as a super hero.   Others are so deep into partisan confirmation bias that they will not vote for a Democrat no matter what.   Even if that means that Trump gets elected.   And then there are those who ignore ALL of Trump's negatives because of a belief that his policies are good for the nation.   On this last point, I can appreciate those who think Trump is better on the border, but those who think Trump's truly insane ideas such as raising tariffs as a means for the USA to generate massive revenue simply do not understand economics.   They do not understand, for example, that tariffs are paid by importers who pass their extra costs onto consumers via the supply chain.   They do not understand that tariffs will drive inflation upward.   They do not understand that the USA is part of a global economy and this bully isolationism of Trump is irresponsible and, flat out, stupid.

True, but you exaggerate the living shit out of the consequences.   The number of illegal immigrants in the USA remains between 10 and 12 million.

... caused inflation and hardship with their out-of-control spending ...

Neither party is fiscally responsible anymore.   But Biden spent significantly less than Trump!    Further, most of the inflation was a consequence of the pandemic.

... made the country far less safe ...

How?   Back to your border exaggeration again?

... used lawfare to go after political opponents ...

Absolute bullshit.   Biden to not go after Trump.   That is pure partisan (and obtuse) nonsense.

... silenced opposing views & news stories on social media ...

What??

... intimidated parents ...

What??

... fled from Afghanistan ...

That was Trump's initiative.   Blame Biden for the poor execution, not the idea of leaving Afghanistan unless you include Trump on that.

... and stood by while the middle east erupted into war and Russia invaded Ukraine.

Actually that's not true. Open borders are what we have between the states – free movement across state lines. The national borders are definitely not "open." The vast majority of migrant numbers reported are for encounters with CBP, they aren't just walking in freely.

That open borders thing is a frequent talking point on the right, but it's a flat out lie. Par for the course these days.

The true part is that Biden did indeed reduce border policies when he took office.

Biden killed the Migrant Protection Protocols which required migrants to stay in Mexico while the sought asylum,  softened deportation to focus on the more criminal illegals, and stopped all work on the wall.

While I am not arguing these were bad or unjustified moves, they did indeed open the borders more from when Trump was in office.

That open borders thing is a frequent talking point on the right, but it's a flat out lie. Par for the course these days.

And if by 'open borders' a Trump supporter actually believes that the borders are literally open, then there is no reasoning with them anyway ... they are entirely out of touch with the facts (and basic logic).

More than 8-9 million illegals came across during this admin without being vetted.

For you to believe the border is open, do you require a huge neon flashing "OPEN" sign at all of the borders because that is exactly how your comments insinuate?

Your fact is wrong; those are encounters (appx. 9.5 million of them).   An encounter is different from an illegal immigrant who is now living in the USA.

How do you define an 'open border'?   Do you think it means that illegals are free to just walk into the USA ... that they are not stopped by the border patrol?

Correct....

One does not get encountered unless one crosses the border illegally. Almost all of them are not vetted and released into the country with supposed court dates years in the future, ie, probably willnever show and never get booted.

So answer my question without once again deflecting.

Do you require a large neon "OPEN" sign at each border before you will admit the border is open?

"that they are not stopped by the border patrol?"

Millions are not. That is why they are called getaways.

You made that up.   Deliver a credible source.

We know there was a spike in encounters so statistically there will be more gotaways under Biden.   That does not mean that our border is open unless you have some special definition for 'open border'.

So answer my question without once again deflecting.

How do you define an 'open border'?   Do you think it means that illegals are free to just walk into the USA ... that they are not stopped by the border patrol?

Deliver a credible source.

Biden’s top border official refuses to say illegal immigrants are vetted before release (msn.com)

How about from the mouth of Biden's top border official

" T he Biden administration's top border official declined to confirm that  migrants  who come over the southern border illegally are being vetted by federal law enforcement before being released into the United States."

Is the Washington Examiner lying?

" Do you think it means that illegals are free to just walk into the USA ... that they are not stopped by the border patrol?"

Apparently you do not pay attention to the news. There are multiple reports by many sources that show illegals walking across the border with no one stopping them. Some run, some turn themselves in because they know Biden will not turn them away, but to answer your question, something you rather deflect than answer a question posed to you is yes, .....illegals are free to walk across the border and not be stopped by Border Patrol.

The funny thing is when you ask any of them how many of these "vetted" illegals they have taken into their home to free up housing, the only answer I get is whoa, whoa, whoa....not in my backyard.

You would think that if they were truly vetted, these "sympathetic" leftists would be bending over backwards to help out these poor lost souls.

There are "tens of thousands" that have committed crimes out of the total 11 million or so that are here, most of whom have been here for quite some time, many who came during the Trump administration. You insinuate that it was somehow the Biden administration that should be held responsible for the "tens of thousands" which is frankly nothing but an intentional lie to try and wrongly attack the current administration for your own political purpose.

Donald Trump has long pushed for a tougher approach on illegal immigration, both on the U.S.-Mexico border and elsewhere in the country. As a candidate for president, Trump pledged to   build a border wall   to reduce illegal crossings. And shortly after being elected, Trump said his administration   would deport   as many as 3 million unauthorized immigrants with criminal records living in the United States.

So how has immigration enforcement changed under Trump? Here’s a look at the data on three key measures – border apprehensions, interior arrests and deportations – based on the latest available full-year statistics from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The analysis also includes data about how various immigration policies and agencies are perceived by the U.S. public, based on Pew Research Center surveys.

The number of migrant apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border rose in fiscal 2019 to its  highest annual level in 12 years . The 851,508 apprehensions recorded last fiscal year (October 2018-September 2019) were more than double the number the year before (396,579) but still well short of the levels in the early 2000s,  according to CBP , the agency tasked with enforcing immigration laws at the border.

Border apprehensions, ICE arrests and deportations under Trump | Pew Research Center

Trump sycophants misrepresent his actual record on undocumented immigrants every time they open their fucking mouths but I guess that's to be expected.

Some food for thought on the most significant elections in U.S. History

In order to be included in this list of the top ten presidential elections, a significant event had to impact the election's outcome or the election needed to result in a significant shift in party or policy.

This presidential election is considered by most scholars as the most significant in U.S. history because of its far reaching impact on electoral policies. The   electoral college system   from the Constitution broke down allowing Aaron Burr (1756–1836), the VP candidate, to be in contention for the presidency against   Thomas Jefferson   (1743–1826). It was decided in the House after twenty-six ballots.

Significance:   Because of this election, the   12th Amendment   was added to the Constitution changing the electoral process. Further, a peaceful exchange of political power occurred   (Federalists   out, Democratic–Republicans in.)

The presidential election of 1860 demonstrated that the institution of slavery was a dividing line in American politics. The   newly formed Republican party   adopted an anti-slavery platform that led to a narrow victory for   Abraham Lincoln   (1809–1865) and also set the stage for   secession . Individuals who once associated with the Democratic or Whig parties yet were anti-slavery realigned to join the Republicans. Those from other parties who were pro-slavery joined the Democrats.

Significance:   The election of Lincoln took the country towards the abolition of slavery and was the straw that broke the camel's back, leading to the secession of eleven states.

Election of 1932

Another shift in political parties occurred with the presidential election of 1932.   Franklin Roosevelt's   Democratic Party   came to power by forming the New Deal coalition that united groups that previously had not been associated with the same party. These included urban workers, northern Black people, southern white people, and Jewish voters. Today's Democratic Party is still largely comprised of this coalition.

Significance:   A new coalition and realignment of political parties occurred that would help shape future policies and elections.

Election of 1896

The presidential election of 1896 demonstrated a sharp division in society between urban and rural interests.   William Jennings Bryan   (Democrat, 1860–1925) was able to form a coalition that answered the call of progressive groups and rural interests including the indebted farmers and those arguing against the gold standard.   William McKinley's   (1843–1901) victory was significant because it highlights the shift from America as an agrarian nation to one of urban interests.

Significance:   The election highlights the changes that were occurring in American society at the turn of the   19th century .

The presidential election of 1828 is often pointed to as the "rise of the common man." It has been called the "Revolution of 1828." After the Corrupt Bargain of 1824 when   Andrew Jackson   was defeated, an up-welling of support arose against back room deals and candidates chosen by caucus. At this point in American history, the nominating of candidates became more democratic as conventions replaced caucuses.

Significance:   Andrew Jackson   was the first president not born of privilege. The election was the first time that individuals began to fight against corruption in politics.

This election ranks higher than other disputed elections because it is set against the backdrop of   Reconstruction . New York governor Samuel Tilden (1814–1886) led in popular and electoral votes but was one shy of the necessary votes to win. The existence of disputed electoral votes led to the   Compromise of 1877 . A commission was formed and voted along party lines, awarding   Rutherford B. Hayes   (Republican, 1822–1893) the presidency. It is believed that Hayes agreed to end Reconstruction and recall all troops from the South in exchange for the presidency.

Significance:   The election of Hayes meant the end of Reconstruction, opening up the country to the scourge of repressive   Jim Crow   laws.

The Election of 1824 is known as the 'Corrupt Bargain'. The lack of an electoral majority resulted in the election being decided in the House. It is believed that a deal was made giving the office to   John Quincy Adams   (1767–1829) in exchange for   Henry Clay   becoming   Secretary of State .

Significance:   Andrew Jackson won the popular vote, but lost because of this bargain. The election's backlash catapulted Jackson to the presidency in 1828, and split the Democratic-Republican Party in two.

The reason why the presidential election of 1912 is included here is to show the impact that a third party can have on the outcome of an election. When former president   Theodore Roosevelt   (1858–1919) broke from the Republicans to form the independent   Bull Moose Party , he hoped to win back the presidency. His presence on the ballot split the Republican vote resulting in a win for the Democrat,   Woodrow Wilson   (1856–1924). Wilson would go on to lead the nation during   World War I   and staunchly fought for the "League of Nations," an idea not supported by Republicans.

Significance:   Third parties cannot necessarily win American elections but they can spoil them.

The Election of 2000 came down to the   electoral college   and specifically the vote in Florida. Because of the controversy over the recount in Florida, the campaign of former vice president Al Gore (born 1948) sued to have a manual recount. This was significant because it was the first time the Supreme Court got involved in an electoral decision. It decided that the votes should stand as counted and the   electoral votes   for the state were awarded to   George W. Bush . He won the presidency without winning the popular vote.

Significance:   The after-effects of the 2000 election can still be felt in everything from constantly evolving voting machines to greater scrutiny of elections themselves.

Election of 1796

After   George Washington's   retirement, there was no unanimous choice for president. The presidential election of 1796 demonstrated that the fledgling democracy could work. One man stepped aside, and a peaceful election occurred resulting in   John Adams   as president. One side effect of this election which would become more significant in 1800 was that due to the electoral process, arch-rival Thomas Jefferson became Adams' Vice President.

Significance:   The election proved that American electoral system worked.

What's funny about that is I believe the reverse is true, though most of Trumps supporters refuse to admit it...

"My support for Trump is not about politics. This isn't about whether I'm a liberal or a conservative, Democrat or Republican. It's about me not being a decent human being, embracing bigotry, misogyny, racism, and supporting an obnoxious, disgusting person who represents MY America. The America of the confederacy, the America of Jim Crow, the America when women couldn't vote, blacks couldn't get a bank loan or buy a house in most areas and white Christian males were large and in charge...".

Crooked Donald wins with his supporters because he champions their causes and appears to win against liberals - by focusing on his supporters points of view and forcing his way.

That is, liberals and progressives continue to 'enjoy' a notion  that they can win over the Right (me included at varying times), when actually Crooked Donald and his 'mob' of millions are, from their perspective, engaging in 'holy' and fierce political warfare with us!

Yes, it is the case that 70 million plus U.S. citizens more or less or waging political warfare against their fellow Americans. They do not like 'us' or what we represent. Thus, they lie, mock, denigrate, insult, do not wish us well, and are vulgar - even harmful towards 'us.'

When the disaster happens in the State you were elected to represent you're not necessarily supposed to go out to the victims immediately, but your constituents expect you to be working to get the funding needed for them instead of running off to Cancun while they're all still knee deep in water.

What Trump did was nothing but a photo op which he clearly saw as a campaign event since he was wearing his campaign hat while taking up the first responders time while getting exactly nothing done to help anyone. His visit only hindered the first responders rescue mission.

And remember this, we have all heard that expression ("third times the charm"). . . meaning each time Donald exposes himself (needlessly) to someone wanting to hurt him. . . the 'group' intellect clocks more information about how those around him operate.

Walz would not violate the CotUS by tabling certified election results.   Apparently Vance still maintains that he would honor Trump over the CotUS.

Vance's biggest problem is that he is tied at the hip with a scoundrel.

Generally though, this has been a good debate.   It was presidential and civilized.   Both were articulate and made their points.

Trump doesn't really want to be President. What he wants, is unlimited wealth, ability to grift more, immunity going forward, adoration from a flock, no accountability for past crimes, and above all, legitimization of his self-professed grandiosity, all of which the presidency will give him. He does, however, need the presidency, at this point in time. The alternative for him, is prison. Or flight. All these discussions the press reports on every day, analyzing what Trump says, and what he'll do - they're not properly contextualized. He himself would be golfing and schmoozing and bloviating - period. It's the people he'd put in place and the ideologies he'd thereby empower (especially Vance), that's what would endanger the American experiment. Trump is but the emissary ... the carrier ... the parasite.

Whoever planted that fucking seed in the old man's head. That's who. His SIL can't even be sure where the hell it came from so of course, if his FIL follows Trump, it stands to reason that Trump told him......../S

Could have been a damned neighbor. Nowhere in the discussion did he say that his FIL told him it was Trump. The man said the words in the quotation marks and out of context. Let's interview the man himself and not some guy who is probably a never Trumper, such as yourself, and therefore, as in 66.1.3 above, everything is Trump's fault.

It is totally ridiculous, given Trump has spent days demonizing FEMA  to low information voters in red states.

Rumor: FEMA is in the process of confiscating Helene survivor property. If I apply for disaster assistance and my land is deemed unlivable, my property will be seized.

FEMA cannot seize your property or land. Applying for disaster assistance does not grant FEMA or the federal government authority or ownership of your property or land. When you apply for disaster assistance a FEMA inspector may be sent to verify the damage on your home. This is one of many factors reviewed to determine what kind of disaster assistance you may be eligible for. If the results of the inspection deem your home uninhabitable, that information is only used to determine the amount of FEMA assistance you may receive to make your home safe, sanitary and functional.

Because one of the dumbest candidates for President in history has millions of apparently the dumbest supporters in history who believe any and every lie that comes out of their candidates' mouth. He doesn't have to be in office to affect the beliefs of his poorly educated followers.

"We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated." - Donald J Trump

Just saying "You'd have to be a fucking idiot to panic in a theatre that had no smoke and no fire just because someone shout's 'Fire!'" doesn't in any way excuse the danger created or crime committed by the one falsely shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theatre.

From the Streets of Philadelphia

by Bill Kristol

PHILADELPHIA, PA—One of the highlights of the Bulwark event here last night was Tim Miller’s conversation with Sarah Matthews. Sarah, who served as deputy press secretary in the Trump White House, spoke eloquently about why she resigned on January 6th—or, as Donald Trump would call it, the “day of love.”

She didn’t discuss the threats and harassment she’s received since deciding to tell the truth about Trump when she testified under oath before the January 6th committee. And she didn’t emphasize how much she’d given up by turning her back on a fast track to fame and fortune in MAGA world. Instead, she took the opportunity, just weeks before the election, to explain just how dangerous it would be to have Trump as president again, and why she’d decided to campaign for Kamala Harris.

Earlier in the day, Tim had conducted a very different interview. This one was for his podcast, with the journalist Bob Woodward. In it, Woodward made news, telling Tim that Trump’s former Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis had gotten in touch with him after Woodward’s new book, War, had been released. Mattis’s message: that he agreed with the assessment of Gen. Mark Milley, who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Trump, that Trump was “dangerous,” and that if he were returned to office “the threat was high.” Tim reached out to Mattis to elaborate directly and on the record, but the request for comment was ignored.

Sarah Matthews is 29 years old. She, along with her former colleagues in the Trump White House—Cassidy Hutchinson, age 27, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, age 35—have stepped up to try to help avert this dangerous threat.

Jim Mattis has had an extraordinary career in service to our country. So has his fellow retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, who served as Trump’s chief of staff and secretary of Homeland Security. So has retiring senator and former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. So has former President George W. Bush.

They’ve served our country, and our country has rewarded them with fame and honor. And yet, at this most precarious hour, with so much on the line, they’ve retreated from public view, unwilling to share candidly and openly with their fellow Americans their considered judgment about the choice we have to make.

They would risk nothing by speaking up directly and publicly about the threat of a Trump second term. But still they don’t.

They would risk nothing by emphatically urging a vote for Harris. But still they don’t.

Sarah and Cassidy and Alyssa do run those risks. Yet they are doing what they can. Mattis and Kelly and Romney and Bush are not.
