The question is this: Does the author make a good point that Trump's influence over his supporters and the GOP in general does not have much impact in a formal court of law? Is it likely that Trump will be found guilty of one or more felonies?

I see no other option. The SCotUS must determine whether Trump is on or off the ballot for all 50 states. Whatever they decide is, by definition, the proper interpretation of the CotUS. Seems to me that if they were to truly follow the intent, they would affirm that he is no longer eligible....
