Mosby made $250,000, but claimed she was facing COVID financial hardships.

ByAlexander Mallin January 13, 2022, 11:04 PM • 4 min read Share to FacebookShare to TwitterEmail this article

A federal grand jury in Maryland has indicted Marilyn Mosby, the state's attorney for Baltimore City, on two counts of perjury and making false statements on mortgage applications that she allegedly used toward the purchase of two vacation properties in Florida, according to a case unsealed Thursday.

Mosby gained national prominence after filing charges against the six officers who arrested 25-year-old Freddie Gray in 2015. His death while in police custody led to several days of protests and at times violent unrest in Baltimore. None of the officers were eventually convicted on the charges.

The indictment alleges Mosby lied on federal loan applications, including one where she asserted she experienced "adverse financial consequences" in her position as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, while prosecutors say her gross salary of nearly $250,000 was never reduced in 2020. In fact, the indictment says Mosby's gross salary increased by nearly $10,000 between 2019 and 2020.

As a result of her relief application, Mosby received $36,000, which she used "toward a down payment for a vacation home in Kissimmee Florida" that she purchased in September 2020.

The indictment accuses Mosby of making false statements on applications for a mortgages of nearly $500,000 for the Kissimmee, Florida, home and a nearly $430,000 mortgage for a condominium in Long Boat Key, Florida.

If convicted of the charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland said Mosby faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison for each of the two counts of perjury and a maximum of 30 years for each of the two counts of making false mortgage applications, though actual sentences for such crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties.

MORE: For the few black women prosecutors, hate and 'misogynoir' are part of life

Mosby has not entered a plea to any of the charges and has not had her initial appearance scheduled as of Thursday evening.

A spokesperson for Mosby did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday evening.

Federal prosecutors began investigating the notorious anti-cop state’s attorney and her husband, Nick Mosby, who is president of the Baltimore City Council, after the Baltimore  inspector general  released a report in February of 2021 that brought into question the state’s attorney’s travel, personal businesses, and gifts, The Washington Post reported.

Finally we'll see her where she belongs!

In June of 2020, Marilyn Mosby dismissed more than  600 pending criminal cases  and announced that her office would no longer be prosecuting many misdemeanors.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan recently called the Baltimore state’s attorney a “big part of the problem” with skyrocketing violent crime in that city, The Washington Post reported.

“We have a prosecutor in Baltimore City who refuses to prosecute violent criminals and that’s at the root of the problem,” Hogan said.

Scum as DA's in the era of the left. One down and many more to go.

I’m thinking she’s going to claim that she only got a 1% raise when she was expecting at least 3%, which was an adverse financial consequence.  No sympathy here. Go to your prison cell for a few years and think about what you did.

CARES Act Fraud Tracker | Arnold & Porter (arnoldporter.com)

The attached spread sheets through August of 2021 represent amounts as high as $14,000,000 in people trying to scam

the CARES ACT. They represent black, white, LAtinos, Christians, Muslims, citizens and non citizen

jerks that tried to defraud the government by taking advantage of the pandemic.

They represent the breadth of the political scale but you won't find that in a report of government supplied information.

The optimist in me recognizes that the Mosby's together or just Marilyn thought she was immune

to being a high quality target; Black female Democrat DA.

Cop hater ?  get the fuck over yourselves, she did what any DA should have per Grey's death.

Now indicted she will have her day in court like the rest of the idiots on the attached list.

She will pay back the money, and maybe cut a deal to resign but keep her suspended law license.

In a few years she will run for something else and get elected because of Freddy Grey.

That being said, I just read that one of the properties in Florida is an 8 bedroom multi floor, multi family rental

that experienced a dramatic lack of rentals during the pandemic.

The second Florida property is also a rental...isn't that the American way?

Makes sense,  Maybe she has a point for her paltry $36,000 loan that might save her two investment properties?

Your comment is BULLSHIT.  Your repeated attacks and attempts to smear George Soros are totally anti-Semitic.  Disgusting.

"The internet has once again exploded with a surge of social media posts about George Soros, with far-right activists and QAnon conspiracy theorists posting wildly imaginative claims related to the billionaire philanthropist. But behind the spectacle of paranoid outrage, there is a troubling and undeniable truth about the constant attacks on George Soros:

Anti-Semitism.

The Hungarian-born financier, whose philanthropic organization Open Society Foundations supports freedom and democracy initiatives in over 100 countries around world, is frequently accused of being a mastermind of international conspiracies. The countless unfounded claims against the successful Jewish businessman could fill books, all without any evidence of their truth. In fact, in the overheated political environment of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, they continue to grow.

A cursory read of conservative and far-right media would have you believe that Soros and his funding is behind Antifa, Black Lives Matter, violent protests, illegal immigration, fraudulent voting schemes and a myriad of other radical conspiracy theories. And of course, his detractors fume at his funding of democratic causes and candidates in state and federal elections across the country.

The most recent anti-Soros flare up appears to stem from an article in the conservative media outlet   The Free Beacon.   The controversy is   focused on activities related to Soros’s Democracy Alliance donor network, which supports progressive candidates and causes, and in particular the network’s affiliated Strategic Victory Fund, a political action committee.  The PAC, like similar initiatives on the conservative side of the political spectrum, seeks to influence voters through a range of educational and engagement tactics on the state level.

The fierce attacks on Soros come not only from conservative activists and media. He is frequently the target of conservative and Republican political leaders, including President Trump, who has used his Twitter account to make baseless claims against the financier. Soros has been called a Nazi by some of the President’s supporters (a claim retweeted by the President’s son, Donald Trump, Jr.) and even referred to as the “Antichrist” by Trump’s longtime advisor Rudy Giuliani.

The emergence of QAnon has also added fuel to the anti-Soros fire, with unfounded claims that Soros, as a “globalist,” is behind an international network of pedophiles and others who seek to defeat President Trump. The viral nature of QAnon and its conspiracy-minded followers is increasing the spread of misinformation, and fear, about Soros at an exponential rate.

So, if it isn’t facts that are driving the animosity towards Soros, what is it?

Anti-Semitism, plain and simple.

Soros’s critics barely hide their anti-Semitism anymore, frequently posting images of him with grossly distorted anti-Semitic features. The attacks also frequently reference, directly and indirectly, longstanding anti-Semitic theories from texts such as the Elders of Zion that claim Jews are running an international cabal. The most perverse attacks on Soros relate to fraudulent claims that he was a Nazi or Nazi sympathizer. In fact, Soros’s family escaped persecution from the Nazis, who killed over 500,000 Hungarian Jews during World War II.

What is most troubling perhaps about the attacks on Soros is that they also reflect a growing wave of anti-Semitism in America and around the world. The Anti-Defamation League has called Soros conspiracy theories “ a gateway to anti-Semitism ” and noted the explosion of anti-Soros sentiment in the a wake of the George Floyd protests. The report also detailed a litany of anti-Soros pundits and provocateurs who traffic in false claims and inflammatory rhetoric. By giving oxygen to anti-Soros theories, these pundits not only do a disservice to the truth, but they fuel anti-Semitic hate and violence that is beginning to reach worrisome levels of pervasiveness in America.

Without question, there is a place for disagreement with any one individual’s politics, and Soros should not be immune to criticism. But the animosity against Soros goes far beyond criticism of any other billionaire funder of political efforts, and perhaps beyond all of them put together. The truth is there is only one sordid reason for why attacks on George Soros are constantly trending, and it is not because of his money or his politics.

It is because he is Jewish."

If you think that any criticism of a Jew is anti-Semitic, and any criticism of a woman is misogyny, then what FACTS are you dreaming about?

Like the Colleyville Police Chief meant no harm tonight when he said "the jew synagogue".

I can accept that he was nervous and misspoke on live tv

but I am also old enough to expect that he will blame the Jews that put a synagogue there...

and that he says Jews a lot more than he says Jewish.

I don't think anyone gives a shit that Soros is Jewish. Hell, I don;t think many people KNOW he is Jewish. Just an excuse to toss out accusations and insults to someone.

And the idiots insist that criticizing Soros is anti-Semitic.

Seems like you can't criticize any person on the left.

If it is a woman, then you are a misogynist.

If the person is of color, then you are racist.

Pretty convenient when you declare all criticism is an attack on the person's race, sex, religion, or heritage.

But that is the type of people we are dealing with.

It was and is open and it is a faith based ministry so it has rules it expects people to abide by as a condition of staying there.  The county and city have little influence there.  The city is looking into creating micro housing for the homeless.  Some should get a clue before criticizing another’s home town.

Mayor Kristen Schreder tells KRCR she's been focused on helping the homeless in the community for a long time. And she’s now hoping to see people able to transition off the streets.

The City of Redding approved both funding and a new ordinance for these small shelters that are designed to get people out of camps and off the streets so they can transition into long-term housing. She says it's been about a year and a half in the planning process.

Some may ask themselves, "why did it take this long?"

Mayor Schreder says it took some time to build a good foundation for a successful, growing project.

It is to enable people to leave encampments or in unsheltered circumstances and become transitionally housed and be provided with supportive services so that they can create a plan to find more permanent housing and more stability for their life,” said Mayor Schreder. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/micro-shelters-for-homeless-coming-to-redding-2022/ar-AASoZCx

Mosby made $250,000, but claimed she was facing COVID financial hardships.

I can only imagine how many millions of people who make far less than $250K (plus perks) wish they had her "financial hardships".

purchase of two vacation properties in Florida

Funny how so many Dems choose Florida as their vacation destinations!

What else would one expect of such a hypocrisy afflicted collection of lousy people?  Rules for thee but not for me is their collective motto.

“The indictment accuses Mosby of making false statements on applications for a mortgages of nearly $500,000 for the Kissimmee, Florida, home and a nearly $430,000 mortgage for a condominium in Long Boat Key, Florida.”

and no doubt she has a home in baltimore too. There’s your problem, lady. So, how is she supposed to afford all this, that she soooooo deserves on a paltry 250k a year? I think she went into the wrong line of work, she should have gone into a leadership position with blm.

One of those Florida homes has 8 bedrooms. She and her husband have only two kids. Why does a family of four need eight bedrooms in a vacation home? I can understand the ultra-rich having lavish things like that, but she's only a state DA.

This isn't Mosby's first rodeo in shady dealings. Read the Controversy and Complaint against media sections in this link:

As expected, Mosby and her lawyer pull that good old race card defense ...

Marilyn Mosby’s lawyer has maintained she’s innocent. A. Scott Bolden has accused federal authorities of pursing the case because of a personal grudge against Mosby, one “rooted in personal, political and racial animus ,” Bolden said.
