China's fifth solar term, Clear and Bright, will begin on April 5, which coincides with a traditional Chinese festival, Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day.

The festival also marks a change in the weather, as temperatures begin to rise nationwide and rainfall increases, making it a crucial time for plowing and sowing in the spring.

During the same time, Chinese will worship their ancestors, wear willow branches, take spring outings, fly kites and eat cold food, among other activities, during the festival. Qingming Festival dates back to the Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-256 BC) and many painters have left us a number of notable works portraying the traditional event.

Let's take a look.

It is now Qingming Festival in China, and celebrated by Chinese people around the world.  I have posted this article and an article with a video which explains Qingming Festival at this link ->  just in case there is anyone on NT who is interested in something other than war these days.

Forget about the war.

Why would people in America be particularly interested in the Qingming festival in China under any circumstances?  I am not making any kind of editorial comment on the festival, and I assume it is lovely. But it is irrational to assume that unless people are interested in this festival that means all they are interested in is war or politics.

Americans in general, as far as I can see , are not that interested in China. At least not on an every day basis like you are.

Apparently, you don't have friends of Chinese ancestry like I do.  For them, Qingming is a very important holiday and they celebrate it in America as part of their cultural heritage.

Also, the posted artwork is spectacular.

I dont object at all to the photos or the festival. What I object to is Buzz getting offended if these articles dont get many comments. Americans in general dont care about China, except as a political boogeyman. They dont care about many other countries either.

Buzz takes it personal if his photos of china get neglected. He shouldnt.

First off, you do not speak for me, John.

Second, if you are not at all interested on the Chinese artwork, then why do you bother to even comment on it?

Third, What makes you think that you have the right to tell others no one is interested in their seed?

Fourth, from where I sit, it seems you are only here to troll this seed simply because YOU don't like it, or think others don't like it.

I for one am very interested in artwork of all kinds, especially, those that depict the history, culture and/or traditions of other countries. Even if I don't comment and just vote it up it does not mean that I am not interested.

So if YOU are not at all interested in such artwork, then just move on and don't think you speak for anyone other than yourself.

Why did you form that assumption?

Buzz regularly complains when his seeds, particularly about China,  dont get a lot of comments. Thats why.

Other people also post seeds that dont get many comments. No one else blames it on "politics".

If Perrie, or Buzz , think my comments are trolling they can remove them.

And you endlessly complain about the moderation as if you should be free of any moderation.

It is one thing for you to have no interest in any article/seed, but, you like to assume that everyone else feels the same as you do. If you don't like what Buzz posts then just ignore them, I don't care, and there may be others that feel the same as I do. Anyone else who feels as sensitive as you do about how Buzz feels about those who are not interested in his articles/seeds they can speak for themselves.

I have no further comment to make, so you are welcome to have the last word.

If you can't point out where I said "Forget about the war" then what you said is nothing more than a personal attack on me.  There are members here who have more than one interest at a time in their lives, and what I said was directed to them, and NOT an insult to those whose horizons are broader.  One of your interests seems to be attacking me, whether because you didn't like my politics, or because you didn't like my movie quizzes, and you sure as hell don't like my focus on China.

I won't flag your comments for trolling or personal insults because I'd rather they remain so others can judge you, and I see that they have.

Apparently during the early 18th century.
"Yu Sheng  was a  Chinese  Asian Antiquities  artist  who was born in 1692. Numerous key galleries and museums such as National Palace Museum have featured  Yu Sheng's  work in the past.  Yu Sheng's  work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from $1,087 USD to $370,000 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork."

The 3 works derivative of western art are boring to the point of a complete absence of what might be referred to as art.

A matter of personal taste - more modern I would say, similar to the works of famous western artists but they do depict Chinese scenes and are based on the theme of Qingming.
