Trump blowharded about the election in front of 40,000 Boy Scouts

Trump gave a fairly long speech this afternoon in front of the nation's assembled Boy Scouts, who are attending their Jamboree , held once every four years, this time in West Virginia. The crowd of boys and their scout leaders and families was estimated at 40,000.

Trump's written speech seemed fairly conventional, as he talked about how the young people should follow their passion, always do their best, and be patriotic.

The problem was not the written portion of the speech, but the many times Trump went off script in what was essentially a speech intended for children and teenagers.

Trump goaded the boys to boo President Obama  "Did President Obama ever attend your jamboree?"  he shouted, and the crowd began to jeer. Trump also, attacked Hillary Clinton, ranted about fake news,  said he would fire his HHS Secretary if Obamacare repeal fails, and got this group of young people to cheer when he said Obamacare would be repealed. One wonders how many Boy Scouts have the foggiest understanding of health insurance.

Trump blowharded about the election, going on at some length about how he surprised everyone and won an unprecedented victory, going into some detail about this or that aspect of the election.

This man's ability to nauseate decent people knows no bounds.

The crowd attending President Trump’s Monday evening speech to the Boy Scouts of America’s National Jamboree appeared to boo former President Barack Obama at one point.

“By the way, just a question. Did President Obama ever come to a jamboree?” Trump asked the crowd, which booed in response.

“The answer is no, but we’ll be back,” Trump added.

While Obama never addressed the gathering in person, he did record a video message to the National Jamboree in 2010, noting the history of the Boy Scouts and the organization’s service to the United States as it marked its 100 th anniversary.

Obama was a member of the Indonesian Scout Association as a child, reaching the equivalent of a Cub Scout, according to reports. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were scouts. President Trump was not a member of the organization as a child.

President Trump Brags About His Election Victory During Boy Scout Jamboree Speech

President Donald Trump spoke Monday night at the 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree, where he bragged about his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 campaign and bashed the media.

"Who the hell wants to talk about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?" Trump asked the crowd sarcastically at the beginning of his speech. But that's exactly what he did, reliving Election Night 2016, or as he called it, "that famous night on television."

"You remember that incredible night with the maps," Trump said, noting that the maps were "so red" that the pundits who had expected a Clinton victory were speechless.

He continued to recount his electoral college victories, explaining he decided to visit Maine, a state that splits its electoral votes, in an effort to pick one up because he thought it would help him win.

"But then Wisconsin came in," he said of election night. "Many many years. Michigan came in. And we worked hard there. You know, my opponent didn't work hard there. She [Clinton] was told she was gonna win Michigan and I said, wait a minute the car industry is going to move to Mexico."

"We'd go to Wisconsin, and we had these massive crowds," Trump continued. "What we did in all fairness is an unbelievable tribute to you and all the millions and millions that came out to Make America Great Again."

While he offered platitudes and words of encouragement to the scouts in attendance, the speech felt more like a campaign rally than an address to a children's organization.

"Under the Trump administration, you'll be saying Merry Christmas again when you go shopping," Trump said.

He always does when he constantly talks about himself.

These are 11- to 18 year old boys he was talking to. One of the more disgraceful performances by a president who has dozens of them to his discredit.

Many TV commentators have commented that previous Presidents Boy Scout speeches have always avoided politics. Trump, spoke of almost nothing but politics, his election victory and how great he is.

CNN Editor at Large, Chris Cillizza, posted an article " The 29 most cringe-worthy lines from Donald Trump's hyper-political speech to the Boy Scouts ". (You should read it)

After saying " 'Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?' Right? ", he spoke about politics.

He discouraged those young people from wanting to serve in public office by saying, " Today, I said we ought to change it from the word 'swamp' to the word 'cesspool' or, perhaps, to the word 'sewer .'"

He also, thanked his crowd for voting for him. Most of them weren't even 18 in 2016.

The left has some nerve calling the Boy Scouts 'Nazis'

What is it with the chutzpah of the left?  The left has given us socialism, National Socialism (Nazis), Bolsheviks, communism, and Obama.  These are all things that are left-wing.  Those were their ideas.  Now they're hollering that the Boy Scouts are Nazis, just because President Trump addressed them, and like any crowd, they cheered.  It takes some nerve to call the Boy Scouts Nazis.

The Associated Press acts as though this is the first time a politician has brought up politics at a rally such as those the Boy Scouts put on.  But think of Obama's speeches.

The title of the article is "Trump shows the Boy Scouts how to start a political fire."

Here is a quote in the third paragraph that shows the tone of the whole article.  Bringing up Nazis by an Obama official shows the tone of the whole article.  I am sure there are no positive tweets out there.  I saw the boys cheering.

"Is nothing safe?" Jon Wolfsthal, a former special assistant to President Barack Obama, wrote on Twitter, saying Trump turned the event into a "Nazi Youth rally."

Presumably, this leftist is thinking of the Hitler Youth, which was Hitler's ersatz ape of the Boy Scouts, an organization founded on Judeo-Christian principles in 1910.  Hitler didn't believe in Judeo-Christian principles, to say the least.  But he had his Hitler Youth and its imitators, all right.  The Boy Scouts were not one of them because they were there first.

One of the Hitler Youth's imitators seems to have been the robotic children who were forced to sing, lockstep, Obama's praise.  The left thought that was fine and dandy.  But not the Boy Scouts, who had nothing to do with Hitler, and whose scouts, as adults, heroically fought Hitler.

That's some nerve.

Changing the Headline(s) is a COC violation, isn't it?

Altering or changing a headline when seeding an article is not a CoC unless the revised headline is misleading or false. Sometimes the original headline does not properly describe the article content, or in some cases is too long.

A seeded article must always provide a link to the original article where the headline cannot be changed, so the actual seeded headline will always be presented.

I can't answer you if I'm not on line.

I just looked at the CoC, and you may be right, it does not require posting a citation, it just says; " Posting content that potentially infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary right(s) of any person or entity is prohibited. Copyright infringement is illegal .

However, in my opinion, and in the opinion the MLA ,  it is always safe to post a citation to your sources;

"To be a responsible scholar by giving credit to other researchers and acknowledging their ideas. To avoid plagiarism by quoting words and ideas used by other authors. To allow your reader to track down the sources  you used by citing them accurately in your paper by way of footnotes, a bibliography or reference list."

Again, they do not say it is a  requirement to actually post your sources, however, like them, I like to play it safe by posting links to my sources. It helps verify my arguments and avoids unnecessary disagreements  to my positions.

Sometimes I make new headlines for SEEDED articles to make the headline reflect something that interests me.  The headlines that many websites use are boring imo.

Most often I will take a sentence from the seeded article and use that.

On original articles , like this one, I think there should be very few restrictions on what the headline can be.

It is. Back outside of my home town of 600 people, before they installed a good sewer system, there used to be to really large sewer ponds about 1/2 mile South of town (this was before Nixon created the EPA) for 2 years and on a hot summer night when the wind was coming from the South, instead of the West as it usually did, it was not fun. So instead of just saying someone was lower then pond scum, we added sewer to it.

Trump has the lowest character and ethical sense of any of the 45.

Kind of falls into the category of understatements.

There have been a number of presidents that history has not looked upon with favor, but in those cases the problem has been regarding policies and issues.

John Tyler , like Trump, also believed the President should be the one spearheading policy decisions, leading to him clashing with several prominent legislators after vetoing several of is own parties bills. (they say, if we don't pay attention to history, it will repeat itself)

After Tyler left office, he actually was elected to the confederate House of Representatives. (how did that work out?)

As John says, Trumps problems is his lack of character and ethics. He lies any time he thinks it will further his goals, and he doesn't even care who or what issue or will hurt ....... because he doesn't care.

Not the first time the boys scouts booed Obama. Smart kids.

Trump, after saying, 'Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I'm in front of the Boy Scouts?', then, being the underhand prick that he is, Trump goaded those kids into a very political booing of Obama.

What really bothers me is the automatic tendency of Right Wingers, like Dean, to quickly try to turn around the pointer by saying, "the left wing has done the same thing". Yeah, the left sometimes does the same thing, but you guys do it without thinking.

If your side has done something that is wrong, blaming the other side for doing something similar does not make it right. Trump is wrong here and anything happened during the last jamboree does not change that.

Trump made a very poor, negative, "disrespect your government" speech to those kids, and Obama 'this' and Hillary 'that', does not correct or justify Donald Trump making a very Un-American negative speech to those kids.

So, make what you want of it Dean, but Trump was wrong in what he said because Trump is an asshole, and after living under 11 previous presidents, Trump is the first President I have called anything like that.

Boy Scouts Chant ‘We Love Trump’ During President’s Speech at Jamboree

President Donald Trump delivered a rousing speech at the Boy Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, celebrating their contributions to their country.

“You are the young people of character and integrity who will serve as leaders of our communities and uphold the sacred values of our nation,” Trump said.

The scouts chanted “We Love Trump” and “U-S-A” as Trump spoke to the energetic crowd.

He noted approvingly that ten members of his cabinet were Boy Scouts, including HHS Secretary Tom Price, Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, and Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, who attended the event with the president.

Trump spoke freely about the challenges he faced in his presidency, including the fight to repeal or replace Obamacare.

After recognizing Price, Trump lightly joked that he would fire him if he failed to get the votes.

“It’s time,” he said. “After seven years of saying repeal and replace Obamacare, we have a chance to now do it.”

Trump’s frustration with Washington D.C. was palpable after his short trip aboard Air Force One.

“You know, I go to Washington and I see all these politicians. and I see the swamp, and it’s not a good place,” he said. “In fact, today I said we ought to change it from the word ‘swamp’ to the word cesspool or perhaps the word sewer, but it’s not good,” he said.

The president returned to familiar themes such as his election victory and the early successes of his administration, pointing to rising job numbers and stock market values.

Some in the crowd even booed his vanquished presidential opponent Hillary Clinton, when he spoke about winning states like Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Trump appeared amazed by the energetic response of the boys in the crowd, accusing the fake news media of refusing to show the crowd-size.

“The fake media will say, ‘President Trump spoke before a small crowd of Boy Scouts today,'” he laughed.

XX, why didnt Trump stick to his telepropmpter?

Why does he have to aggrandize himself?  Doesn't he know Jesus said "Blessed are the meek" ?

Why did he encourage children to disrespect a former president of the United States?

He had a decent speech on the teleprompter. But half the time he disregarded it. He's a sick man XX, and I know that even you understand that.

It seems that the parents of the scouts are not happy with Trump....

Pretty sad when you have to brag (lie) to a group of Boy Scouts about your accomplishments. Only goes to show what a low life Trump is.

Boy Scouts Chant ‘We Love Trump’ During President’s Speech At Jamboree

Come on Corny, in the first place, you can't just post an article as an answer to a comment and on top of that not take the time to edit the paste. You have eligible advertising phrases in there and it demonstrates your lack of concern for the quality of The NewsTalkers comment threads.

What on earth does Trump know about character and integrity other than acknowledging that those are qualities he doesn't have?

John, I'm having the same problem. When I try to post a comment, often,  it doesn't seem to take. If it is clicked a second time time it eventually will post twice.

The trick is, after clicking "Post Your Comment", if it doesn't take, click on the recycle button, it will show the comment was posted.

It looks like more boy scouts showed up here than people showed up to his inauguration.  How nice that the POTUS is classing down this organization.  There is little hope left for our country when a boy scout chants we love Trump.  I wonder if he told his joke about why he got kicked out of the boy scouts.

Remember the parade for Trump at his massive inauguration?

Apparently, former boy scouts, and the parents of the boy scouts in attendance were NOT pleased with the speech.

This puts the boy scouts in an awkward position, doesn't it, as a non-profit organization?

No, not really.  Presidents have spoken there before and what a visiting President says to them would have zero effect on their organizations tax status.  Besides as the scouts make more compromises with the secular progressive left and abandon moral values, more young people are joining alternative scouting organizations instead.

They may as well have had Larry Flynt as a guest speaker.  I don't know what they thought would happen when a foul mouthed ignoramus takes the stage in front of 40,000 youngsters, but maybe they ought to spend a little less time tying knots and a little more time watching legitimate news.

The scouts do a lot of things besides tying knots. Like learning how to be honest and how to treat your neighbors.  Donald Trump is certainly not the one to be preaching those kids.

"Watching legitimate news"??!! Cub Scouts are as young as  7 years old. They will have plenty of time to be reading the news when they grow up. Right now those kids should be learning to understand life's values.  Again, having Trump on the stage there created nothing but a negative impact for those kids.
