There Is No Other Side Of The Story

Conservatives have stopped defending Trump, or Kevin McCarthy, or any of Trump's enablers, now we get a version of "it is what it is".

We are told conservatives like Trump's "results" therefore this "shining light on a hill" of a nation must accept Trump with all his massive shortcomings and disqualifications as a president, leader and human being.

When unpleasant (for conservatives) truths are brought up about Trump, all we get is "but Biden" or "socialism" or "black lives matter" , or most often , "cancel culture". The right wing would have us saddled with Trump forever because "Dr Seuss".

If the current atmosphere persists into next year I would bet a bundle that Trump will announce he is running for president again. If that happens the nation's disgrace will be complete.

Where is the political leadership in this country, particularly within the Republican Party? Future generations will be aghast at how far we allowed ourselves to fall.

The present day political right believes they own the libs, even as they continue to embrace the most dishonest and corrupt president in history. What the right owns is shame.

At least man up and tell us why you believe we should follow Trump into the future.

They don't even own up to that.

The Republican party is following an angry mob.  Following is not leadership.

'Just the Trump party:' Liz Cheney demotion proves Donald Trump's hold on Republican politics, experts say

David Jackson, USA TODAY 1 hr ago 14-18 minutes

original

WASHINGTON – By choosing to oust Rep. Liz Cheney from House GOP leadership,   Republicans showed Wednesday they will move forward as Donald Trump's party , experts said, and Trump's myth of the "stolen election" of 2020 might as well be a plank in the campaign platform.

Cheney, R-Wyo., lost her position   as the third-ranking House Republican after she unapologetically argued the party should move past Trump and stop echoing his debunked claim that a "fraudulent" election cost him the presidency.

The   decision to remove Cheney   as House Republican Conference chair – little more than three months after Republicans voted to keep her in the job – sets up a future in which GOP candidates will campaign as Trump acolytes and carry on his protests over his   2020  loss to President Joe Biden.

"There is no Republican Party – there's really just the Trump party," said political scientist Samuel Popkin, author of "Crackup: The Republican Implosion and the Future of Presidential Politics."

Cheney's banishment   from leadership  suggests Republicans who speak out against   Trump's claims about the election   will be punished, despite concerns that those evidence-free accusations helped trigger the attack Jan. 6 on the U.S. Capitol, analysts said. As the party looks to reclaim control of Congress in 2022, the question remains: Can Republicans win with a message built around Trump?

"If you cross him, what you're really doing is activating the base to come after you," said Thomas Patterson, a political scientist and author of a book called "Is The Republican Party Destroying Itself?"

Yea, Trump still has a "pussy" grab on the Republicans, cause as Trump stated, they just let him. What a disgraceful embarrassment both are.

Very high on the Republican agenda is Mr. Potato Head. Fitting as most have the critical thinking skills of a potato.

I hate that this fat-ass bully still has this kind of influence on grown-ass men and women.

If there are any already-declared Republican American Fascist candidates when (not ''if'') Trump declares, they will be required to withdraw. Trump will require unanimity from his idolators.

The idolators will accede.

It’s all about what the party leaders think they need to do to win the next election, and they do not like to take chances. They much prefer someone with a track record - even a bad one - who gets people excited about voting for him. That’s how we ended up with Biden.

The harder the GOP pulls towards right wing insanity, the fewer constituents they will end up with.  A third party of significance is probably around the corner.  If they’re smart about it they just might attract enough from the center left to make a close race for POTUS.  I doubt they’re that smart though.

JUST STOP, JohnRussell.  There is ALWAYS another side to a story.  That does not mean that the other side is right or good.  I guess many forget or never knew of Paul Harvey, and his "The Rest Of The Story" radio program, because there is ALWAYS more than what you first hear or read, and that MORE could either convince you that YOUR side of the story is right, or if you're not an idiot with your brain encased in concrete, you just might realize that you were not correct in the first place.  Thank heavens for "Fact Check" programs.

Now that I got that off my chest I can say that, looking from both sides now, and from a non-American viewpoint personally and physically, I consider Trump to have been and contiues to be one of the worst things that has ever happened to America and the rest of the world, although he was the best POTUS friend ever of Israel.
