Israel prepares air force to hit Iran 'clearly and forcefully': report
Channel 12 said the country's air force -- which includes US-made F-16, F-15 and F-35 fighter jets -- is already gearing up to deliver a retaliatory counter-strike against the rogue Islamic nation, though no timeline was provided.

Israel has decided to hit Iran "clearly and forcefully" and is already preparing its warplanes to carry out the strike, according to a report on Monday.

The reported decision comes after two war cabinet meetings in which leaders of the Jewish nation debated how to respond to Saturday's barrage of 350 suicide drones and missiles.

Israel's Channel 12 news carried the report — which was widely picked up in local media.

Channel 12 said the country's air force — which includes US-made F-16, F-15 and F-35 fighter jets — is already gearing up to deliver a retaliatory counter-strike against the rogue Islamic nation, though no timeline was provided.

According to the report, the strike will be intended as a message that Israel "will not allow an attack of that magnitude against it to pass without a reaction."

However, Israeli leaders also hope the response will not spark a wider war, the unsourced report said.

President Biden and allies have urged Israel to exercise restraint, with Biden reportedly telling Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US would not back a counter-attack.

Israel's military chief Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi confirmed Monday that Iran's actions "will be met with a response," but he also declined to elaborate or indicate the timing.

At a White House press briefing Monday afternoon, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby called Iran's missile attack against Israel "a spectacular and embarrassing failure," and said the key US ally is in "a far stronger strategic position" today than before the attack.

Kirby deferred questions about whether he expected the US to be briefed ahead of an Israeli military response.

"That is an Israeli decision to make. Whether and how they'll respond to what Iran did on Saturday we're going to leave squarely with them."

On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned his US counterpart, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, that the Jewish state has "no choice" but to retaliate against the rogue Islamic Republic after it launched hundreds of missiles and suicide drones into Israeli airspace on Saturday night, according to Axios correspondent Barak Ravid.

Iran's aerial assault was in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike in Damascus on April 1 in which a top Iranian general was killed.

Israeli media later reported that the target of the strike — Gen. Mohammad Reza Zahedi — was a key planner of the Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel that killed more than 1,200 people and sparked the war in Gaza.

Israel — working with a coalition of unlikely allies, included the US, the UK, France, Jordan and Saudi Arabia — was able to stop 99% of the 350 weapons launched by Iran.

None of the drones or cruise missiles struck Israel, and only a few of the ballistic missiles made it through, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The debate over how and when to strike back at Iran prompted Israel to delay a long-anticipated military incursion in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, the Times of Israel reported Monday.

As opposed to a one-sided war?

Israel has now been attacked twice and there is a war whether Joe the moron likes it or not.

Sounds like they are going to break the Obama doctrine, that iran can attack anyone it wants and no one can attack iran.

Iran really believed that. I heard a military expert the other day say that Iran never spent much on defenses.

This strike over the weekend exposed them for the paper tiger they really are.

The concensus of military experts is that Iran is Putin’s proxy in the Middle-East and that Iran's ineffectual strike was intended to take the US and world attention off Ukraine and to divert US military assistance and spending to Israel and away from Ukraine.

Mike Johnson then suggested we do so...

here are other sources and others saying the sam

Did you not read your source? It does not claim "Iran is Putin's proxy"

Words matter. It argues Putin benefits from the attack, not that Iran is acting for Putin. Just because a source put words near each other doesn't mean you get to invent a new  meaning for them.

Which "military experts"?

(Perhaps the term "military experts" is referring to the majority of Gen Zers who post random thoughts on Instagram?)

Or does that term refer to anyone who posts their opinion of X (formerly known as "Bitter"?)

Maybe.

For a while now it seems most people on social media can invent whatever meanings they want-- and get lots of "likes" -- so it must be true!

That says the war could benefit Russia. Iran is not a proxy for Russia. Iran has its own agenda.

Your right to be weary of 'military experts' without knowing names and experience.

I don't think Iron is Putin's proxy any more than Israel is ours.  It is true that Russia and Iran have been forging tighter relationships over the last few years.  For longer than that, Iran has sold Russia with a large number of surface-to-surface ballistic missiles and drones that Putin has used in Ukraine.  Active duty Army experts view the growing partnerships between Russia, China, Iran and North Korea as a dangerous challenge to the US.  in the past four decades.

Only to those not using common sense.

Putin has troops, ships, military bases, and naval base in Syria. The last thing he wants is Israeli attention. He and China are telling Iran to tone it down; and they aren't listening.

Iran is selling Putin drones and missiles. What does Putin have to offer Iran?

Remember her restart button!

In March of 2009, the Obama administration was attempting to reset their relationship with Russia, which had taken a bad turn after the Russian and Georgian war the year before. At that time, as reported by CNN, Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. On March 6, 2009,  Clinton met  with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Prior to their working dinner, she gave him an unusual gift.

Hillary Clinton opened the little box and presented Lavrov with a red plastic button. The red “reset button” had the word “peregruzka” inscribed in Russian on its base. The word “Reset” was also written in English.

Hillary Clinton then told Lavrov, “I would like to present you with a little gift that represents what President Obama and Vice President Biden and I have been saying and that is, we want to reset our relationship, and so we will do it together.”

When Clinton noticed that Lavrov was looking at the words with a confused expression on his face, she mentioned that they had worked hard to get the proper word in Russian.

“Do you think we got it?” she asked him.

Lavrov laughed as he said, “You got it wrong.”

He went on to inform Clinton that it should have read “perezagruzka,” which is the actual word for reset. Instead, Hillary Clinton had mistakenly inscribed a word that means “overcharged.”

Iran proved they weren't able to hang with the big boys. Now they are going to pay for it.

They should have stuck to using their proxies to retaliate against Israel.

This should remove all doubt why countries that have weaker militaries covet getting nuclear weapons so much. All they have to do is look at Russia. If Iran had nukes Israel wouldn't have taken out their embassy/general in Syria- nor would dream of a direct response.

After this Iran will be pressuring North Korea, China, and Russia to bring their intercontinental ballistic missile program and nuclear programs up to snuff.

It would be nice if Biden were to provide Israel with the deep bunker bombs needed for Israel to take out Iran's underground nuclear bomb development - that is what really needs to be destroyed, because once Iran has the bomb it can provide it to their proxies who really don't give a shit at all about the Laws of War or International Treaties or what happens to the rest of the world if they actually cause a "Sum of All Fears".

We have provided Israel BLU-109 bunker buster bombs.

This is a 2,000 pound warhead, designed to penetrate a concrete shelter. It can penetrate about 1.8 metre or 6 feet of reinforced concrete. They are good on Hamas tunnels but insufficient on Iranian nuclear facilities.
