Melania Trump is the most gorgeous and glamorous first lady in US history. She’s also the only FLOTUS to be fluent in five languages.

The situation has gotten so out of hand that even the mild-mannered Canadians have noticed the brutal treatment Melania receives as the first lady.
“If you think your holiday obligations are endless, consider, for a moment, Melania Trump,” observed a CBC columnist, who noted that Mrs. Trump’s job comes with “no paycheque and a chorus of criticism.”
The CBC noted how Melania is dissed around the clock while most political spouses in other countries fly under the radar. “It’s ridiculous to expect the spouse of a president to be a domestic superstar,” according to the CBC.
Despite being relentlessly attacked by anti-Trumpers, Mrs. Trump calmly shrugs off her haters.
This is probably because Melania knows that the best revenge is looking good and being happy. Nothing enrages haters more than the realization that their vitriol doesn’t affect their targets.
“I love Washington,” Melania gushed . “We love to live in the White House. We are very honored to serve our great nation.”
The First Lady said she stays happy despite the constant negative press coverage because she focuses on what’s important: Being a great mom and wife who leads a meaningful life.
“I want to live a meaningful life, and that’s the most important thing to me,” Mrs. Trump said. “I know what my priorities are and I’m focused on that.”

Okay, I'm beginning to think maybe you've come from an alternate universe and just aren't familiar with this universes actual history. Anyone with more than half a brain who was paying attention to how first ladies have been treated in this universe would now that Michelle was regularly pictured by the right as an ape, a black panther with a giant afro, called all sorts of vile racist names and is still being maligned by whiny little emasculated white men scared shitless by her strength and physique. Laura Bush was virtually invisible for eight years. Hillary was attacked constantly by the right, having her husbands affairs thrown in her face constantly, conservative Christians judging her for not leaving Bill (of course they now elected a 19 times accused sexual predator while Bill was only accused by 4 women). And Nancy was fine most of the time, though she got a little nuts when she was consulting her horoscope and calling physics as her husband was freefalling into the abyss of dementia and early stage Alzheimer's.
When a First Lady is pushing some public policy agenda you don't like, I get why people would attack her, but the current First Lady pretty much decorates the White House and reads books to kids. The animosity aimed at her seems entirely tribal.

I can't respect her for choosing to sell herself to Donald Trump, although I certainly don't despise her the way people like WallyW despise Michelle Obama. I think it's sad she settled for a cretin, but she made her bargain and I can only assume the price she paid is worth it for the wealth she got out of the deal. I'm not sure if she really likes the fame all that much, and I don't think she counted on having to be FLOTUS, but such is life.
I so think it would be nice if she did more for her adopted country. Laura Bush had a literacy program, and Michelle Obama pushed healthier eating and physical exercise. Nancy Reagan sat on Mr. T's lap (actually she also fought against drug abuse, but I loved the humor of her sitting on Mr. T's lap). Melania claims to be advocating for an end to cyberbullying but that is rather hypocritical, seeing who she belongs to and how much cyberbullying he does. And she hasn't actually done much in that arena, regardless. She can focus on being a good mother and still do something to justify the money we're spending on her, as other First Ladies have done.
It's tradition for a First Lady to pick a cause. Is it required? No, but it seems like the least she could do.
Why? Because we pay for her lodging, transportation, food, and the staff she employs, and the decorations she chooses, for one thing. And also because it's common decency (and a great tradition) for her to use her position for good. Michelle Obama's haters had a lot of crap to say about her advocacy for healthy eating, but she didn't let that stop her.
Of course people are grousing about Melania's Be Best initiative because of the hypocrisy (and the lack of any apparent actual work on the initiative), so she might want to pick an issue where her own husband isn't the main offender. But there are plenty of options out there. She seems like a good and dedicated mother, which could certainly guide her toward selecting an issue she could use her position to help with.
