The Untraditional Life

“I call it untraditional; some may have other words for it. ”
I call it untraditional; some may have other words for it. My life is untraditional. I was born a “tomboy” and my mother hated it. She wanted a little “princess” that she could dress up and do girly things with, but that wasn’t me. I preferred playing in the mud, playing with my Matchbox or Hot...
Have you tried anything new lately?

“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. Albert Einstein”
A coworker of mine made some soaps for me and she told me where she shopped for the items to make it. I am now on a kick of making soaps, perfumes, body butters, and body washes. I make it a point to make these items without coconut oil [or the like], because it's VERY difficult to find any body...
Strange skills, do you have any?

“It takes real skills to choke on air, fall up the stairs and trip over nothing. I have those skills. Author unknown.”
We all have some sort of skillset that we were pretty much born with and then there's skills that we've worked on to perfect, or at least get as close to perfection as possible. I think I was born with the skill of research. I also was born with the ability to swim and ice skate; no one taught...

“Amok, amok, amok, amok...”
What are your favorite Halloween traditions? For those with kids and grandkids, what were the costumes they wore that were your favorite? Do you like "scary" movies? I quote scary because I've never particularly found horror movies scary; not even as a little kid. I was 3 when I would watch...

Some of you here on NT are fellow Michiganders and know the beauty that Michigan has; especially as the weather begins to grow colder and the leaves begin to change. I've seen photos from various states; many from Pennsylvania, Maine, and other New England states, and Colorado. We're going to...
Pandemic Pastimes

“If you're bored, you're probably boring... [had a teacher tell me that once and it stuck]”
During this global pandemic, what have you done to occupy your time? I can honestly say that my life isn't far different than before people started catching [and many dying from] COVID-19 besides having to wear a mask in the store and not having to commute 60 miles round trip daily. However,...
Living wills...

“Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. Haruki Murakami”
This subject is a little dark, but something that I think people need to share with his / her loved ones even if it's just in case something happens. My mother and stepfather have a living will and I had to sign it as the executor. I have no idea if my father or stepmom has anything like this in...
Bad habits and breaking them...

“"Are they still bad habits if I like them?"”
To start off, I'm a smoker and have been since age 14. My parents (dad, mom, stepdad, stepmom) and my grandparents except for one, most of my great grandparents, and several of my great aunts and great uncles are or were smokers. Those that don't or didn't smoke, eat... a lot and usually end up...
Schoolhouse Rock... I loved these.

“"Conjunction junction, what's your function..."”
I sure wish they made these today. They're so educational. My son learned a lot about grammar and basic math from these. Then when he did a project regarding the branches of government, we watched the ones that were related to that subject. I love these and they bring back a lot of memories....
