ALL DAY MUSIC - What are your favorite songs of summer ?
Although the album was released in November of 1971, All Day Music is definitely a summer song . I remember being with my friends on a picnic drinking Boone's Farm apple cider wine (cost about 89 cents for a liter bottle at that time, I believe) and everyone groovin out to All Day Music and some other summer songs under the July sun.
Every time I hear music by War, which is not very often any more, I think of summer.
Summer - War
Heat Wave is probably my favorite summer song. There is a great sax part that runs underneath the vocal , and Martha and the Vandellas were Motown's summer song specialists.
The first time Brian Wilson dropped acid he wrote this summer masterpiece, California Girls, in the middle of the night.

Interesting thing about this Billy Joel song. It's called "Famous Last Words". It also happened to be the last song on his last album, so I guess you could call it prophetic, too.
