But, you don't excuse every politician for being. . . a politician. Work on consistency (already). More to the point, politicians have a lot of groups and individuals to please when they speak. The dynamics can be impossible. Because there are secrets to keep out of the public conversation and yet the public (media) can be extra demanding in drilling down for answers that simply must not be spoken. So yes, politics and politicians are deliberately slippery in how they speak! But to be a calculated and boastful liar that is beyond the pail.

Donald Trump claims two more golf championships at Trump International West Palm Beach

4-4 minutes

Not even spending most of his time in courtrooms attempting to defend himself from 88 felony counts can slow down Donald Trump's golf game.

The former president and Palm Beach resident boasted Sunday of adding two more championships to his long self-proclaimed list, saying on his social media site he won the Club Championship and Senior Club Championship at his course in West Palm Beach.

The post, which appeared on Truth Social, was sent during Trump International's awards night.

"It is my great honor to be at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach tonight, AWARDS NIGHT, to receive THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY & THE SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY," the 77-year-old Trump wrote.

"I WON BOTH!"

The post concluded with Trump adding: "A large and golfing talented membership, a GREAT and difficult course, make the play very exciting. The qualifying and match play was amazing. A large and distinguished group will be there tonight. Very exciting, thank you!!!"

The post was mocked by President Joe Biden who reposted Trump.

"Congratulations, Donald. Quite the accomplishment," Biden wrote.

Trump's many claims about his golfing prowess have been met with much skepticism. A year ago, he bragged about having won the   Senior Club Championship in West Palm Beach, despite not playing the first round   of the tournament.

In August, he posted that he captured the   Senior Club Championship at his course in Bedminster,   New Jersey, by shooting a 67, a score that would have beaten all but six of the 144 rounds on that same course weeks earlier in a LIV Golf event.

Trump concluded that post by saying: "For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete - I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!"

Brian Jack, a MAGA Congressional candidate from Georgia,   recently praised Trump for his golf skills   by saying he "put to shame two professional golfers," by shooting "a 70 on 18 holes."

More: Donald Trump and golf: Fancy resorts, A-list partners, cheating at highest level

Trump bragging about his golfing exploits, and being accused of cheating on the course, goes back many years.

Those dubious claims on the course are legendary, and were the subject of a 2019 book by sportswriter Rick Reilly: "Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump."

"Trump doesn’t just cheat at golf," Reilly wrote. "He throws it, boots it, and moves it. He lies about his lies. He fudges and foozles and fluffs. At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: 'Pele.' ”

Trump, who honed his golf skills many weekends in West Palm Beach while serving as President, is a staunch supporter of LIV Golf and has played in many pro-ams leading up to LIV events held at his properties.

LIV is returning to Trump National Doral next week. Last October, though,   Trump was a no-show for the LIV event in Doral,   not even participating in the pro-am, which was held the day after Trump attended his civil fraud trial in New York. Trump is facing four criminal cases.

It is unknown if Trump will play the pro-am at Doral next week. But if he's not in court, he just may want to continue that decades-long hot streak he claims to be on … on the course, that is.

And even if he's not there, he still can say he won.

That depends on how you watch. If you are watching or listening saying, "Oh, my! That was a zinger!" regardless of factual value, then Trump did well because he is physically more robust and more able to blather on. If you are watching or listening with an ear toward verifiable information, then Biden did much better.

Biden and Trump agree to debates in June and September

Politics   Updated on May 15, 2024 12:48 PM EDT — Published on May 15, 2024 11:07 AM EDT

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on Wednesday agreed to hold two campaign debates — the first on June 27 hosted by CNN and the second on Sept. 10 hosted by ABC — setting the stage for the first presidential face-off in just weeks.

I have held that Biden is too old to be PotUS since he chose to run over four years ago.   But his performance last night was the worst I have seen him in a continuous presentation.   As noted, this is dramatically different from his State of the Union.

My guess is that they do not pay much attention to politics and thus would be highly influenced by the optics.

That is precisely what is wrong with a large part of the electorate: If they are going to vote they need to educate themselves. This is not a reality TV show, it is a debate. The reason to observe debates is to decide who has the best information and recall on the topics at hand. As far as that goes, Biden was obviously the most clued in. All I heard come out of Trump were lies and extreme distortions, all to absolutely no call-out from the moderators.

If the 'dems' don't drop Biden. . .the good news (as in the dismal first debate by Obama against Romney) there is always tomorrow to get it right. Furthermore, CNN just dipped into a Biden 'after party' and Biden's voice was stronger there. As for the stutter (and facial grimacing because of it) Biden is stuck with that. Let's just see if Biden gets kept through the 'fall-out.'

Also, Donald ain't going nowhere. MAGAs love their liar. And if they don't he won't concede to ever remove himself either.

I do not see how the Ds can drop Biden.   They should have done that well before the primary season.   Not now.   Not unless they have some dynamic candidate who can step in and rally the nation around them.   Who is that?   I have no name (among career politicians).

Did hard Ds will vote for whoever is the nominee so the trick is to find a candidate who will attract the independents and at least some of the never-Trumpers.   I suppose it is possible but it seems unlikely.   But we are in very strange times so I suppose it is best to not rule out even the wildest of twists and turns.

To me, it would be hard to pick a D that would not be better for the nation than Trump.   But I have to wonder if most independents think similarly.

Exactly.   The reason Biden is the presumptive nominee is because he wanted to be.   It is extremely difficult for a political machine to deny incumbency.   That, to me, is the primary reason Biden is the presumptive nominee.   It is hard to imagine the D operatives wanted Biden to run for a second term.

But, then again, it is hard to imagine why the GOP has sold its soul to Trump.

Some years ago during my acting days (yes, I was local performer) I had a cold and was forced to delivery my lines in a fog and with a throat like what I heard from Joe tonight. TiG, I feel that I may be misunderstood here and need to go the extra distance. I don't know why the Dems' political machine is running the incumbent candidate in his early 80s. That's not my job to know. I will support anybody that runs against a dedicated liar who relies on sensationalism and the laziness of others to not take the time or interest to separate truth from fantasy. If the dems run a different candidate this cycle I will support that potentially more youthful member, because from my perspective I can't easily tolerate the lies and the flouting of everything about this country that is good by someone who simply wants to manipulate the system to his and his people's advantage. While doing great harm to me and those I value—as worthwhile people.

If that is Biden so be it. If it is not Biden then so be it. Donald can never win my vote (without a complete character makeover. . . he has demonstrated time and time again that he does not care to do so.

I can accept that your perspective is different from mine (as we come at this from different orientations and potentially allowances. Principally, Donald is stealing in plain sight to me. . . I see Donald as stealing from others (including me) physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially, culturally, etceteras. I could not vote for Donald if I tried, as a result.

“Politics is hard,” she said in the Netflix special. “And the people who get into it … you’ve got to want it. It’s got to be in your soul, because it is so important. It is not in my soul.”

In a 2022 BBC interview, she also said she “detests” questions about running for president.

Also, I can't locate it now but that "taskbar" newsfeed some or all of us possess on our computer lower right menu, recently displayed a statement from former president Obama that he does not encourage his wife, Michelle, to enter the political arena.

I can understand why: Politics, as it is currently being done, is STUPID. The media is like a panting 'arena' of jackals sitting with bated breath to tear apart any participant that falters-even with an accidental misstatement. And, the lying, scandal, oppo is contemptible. Truth does not matter. Good intentions do not matter. It's toxic.

The Surgeon General should issue a warning label about politics being toxic to the soul and spirit! Because it is.

Privately I think Biden should step down, take his laurels, and go home to age gracefully. Leave the political "devil may care' arena behind. That said, it is what it is.

BTW, it is high time this country count the cost of what it is doing to 'regular' folks who simply want to do what is best for their country's existence, growth, and furtherance. There are two many forces aligned at any given time against positivity in the political arena. . . that will not accept good for its own sake, but persist in tearing down, undermining, and ruining the participants who try their best to win for all the people and not just a political side or tribe.

Time for deep reflection on why we have two truly old individuals running for an office that a 35 years old can achieve. . . is it because many good people simply don't want the destruction of their souls and minds, their families too, to a process/office that seemingly now has outsmarted itself and is more often than not being re-oriented toward corrupting influences of money and power.

I think the best option is for the Ds to have hit their breaking point and now confront Biden.   But to do that, they need an alternative.    Michelle will not run.   And Obama also has not acted yet either so your logic of ‘would have already done it’ does not hold water.

There are too many ways for this to go so speculation is a bit pointless.   I would be quite surprised if the Ds switch to someone else at this stage, but we are living in extremely strange political times so I will not rule anything out.

I would personally like a viable option … someone I could vote for rather than merely voting against Trump.   But that is very wishful thinking.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. An old adage, but the circumstances we face certainly qualify.

At this late hour, it will take extraordinary courage and extraordinary leadership to restore at least a semblance of hope..,and perhaps that effort will convince enough to make the choice to leave this aberration to the history books.

Don't forget, both Bush and Obama lost opening debates that should have been slam dunks and neither realized they lost until the next day.  And both corrected those mistakes.  Biden still has time, as does the DNC.

Trumps campaign against CNN and those two "moderators" worked.

They were intimidated and sat on their hands,

or their hands were full because Tapper had to switch the microphones off and on

while Bash used her Pinkey to direct the candidates when it was their turn.

Seems that people who talk for a living can't multifunction with their hands.

They failed big time.

If you are going to just detach and go with talking points: Just say so. The Bottom Line: Unfortunately, if you get the courts whomsoever your group is wants ,the rest of us will protest the hell out of it. We have no intentions of giving up our (new found) freedoms, liberties, and privileges to whomsoever your group is. If your group think that once we have tasted true freedom from being under whomsoever your group is control over us as liberals, y'all are delusional. Like it or lump it.

Traitor Joe:

"When he was President they were still killing people in Afghanistan, he didn't do anything about that.  The truth is, I'm the only President this century that doesn't have any, this decade that doesn't have any troops dying anywhere in the world".

Sorry Joey.  Facts say otherwise.  You are responsible for quite a few hundred deaths.  Military AND civilian just in his horrid retreat from Afghanistan.

It's not like Traitor Joe would remember.  He was to busy checking his watch like he had more important things to do when the Soldiers and Marines that were killed come home.
