Biden Presidency Shaken to Core by Kabul Bombings
"Joe Biden has blood on his hands," Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik said. "This horrific national security and humanitarian disaster is solely the result of Joe Biden's weak and incompetent leadership. He is unfit to be commander-in-chief." Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn tweeted that Biden and all his top national security staff "should resign or face impeachment and removal from office."

Shaken to the very core and beyond.  Simply another ridiculous disaster inflicted upon upon our military by a series of bone headed decisions made by our totally bungling and inept president and his administration. It is time to mourn for those we lost and those our government is deliberately by its choice and acts leaving behind.  Biden should be impeached or resign unless he gets every American out of there and inflicts sufficient retribution against those responsible for the outrage that is this day.

S E E D E D   C O N T E N T

The bombs that killed US service members and Afghans in the desperate Kabul evacuation inflicted another casualty on the other side of the world -- Joe Biden's presidency.

Biden took office promising calm at home and respect for the United States abroad in the wake of the traumatic Donald Trump years.

On Thursday, the deadly attack at Kabul's airport left him with a mountain to climb if he's to persuade the nation and America's partners that either goal remains achievable.

The 78-year-old Democrat was already reeling from the chaos in Afghanistan, where the US-backed government and US-created army vanished almost overnight, leaving the handful of remaining US troops and many thousands of US citizens and allies at the Taliban's mercy.

Working around the clock for 10 days, his administration had thought perhaps it could still pull triumph from disaster.

The airlift was going far better than predicted, with the US military performing flawlessly and the Taliban more or less keeping its end of the bargain in securing Kabul.

Early Thursday in Washington, the White House proudly rolled out the latest remarkable figures: more than 95,000 people safely flown out since Kabul's fall to the Taliban.

Then the bombs went off, 12 Americans died, and Biden's seven-month-old presidency was shaken to the core.

Shutting himself away with aides in the Situation Room, he canceled a meeting with state governors and told visiting Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett that their planned meeting in the Oval Office would have to wait until Friday.

As pressure mounted on Biden to face the public, the White House announced an address to the nation later Thursday.

"The president needs to be out there and taking questions," Ian Bremmer, founder of the Eurasia Group risk consultancy, said. "He is not seen as leading in a time of crisis."

- 'Blood on his hands'? -

Biden didn't start the Aghan war. That was a Republican, George W. Bush.

And Biden was the first of four presidents actually to follow through on promises to end the disaster.

But as Biden himself said, the "buck stops" with him.

That means he will not be able to escape fury and horror back home over the deaths of the servicemen -- or the political fallout.

"Joe Biden has blood on his hands," Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik said. "This horrific national security and humanitarian disaster is solely the result of Joe Biden's weak and incompetent leadership. He is unfit to be commander-in-chief."

Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn tweeted that Biden and all his top national security staff "should resign or face impeachment and removal from office."

The Republican outcry was predictable. But the wider damage reflected in opinion polls will be more worrying for Biden.

While a USA Today/Suffolk University poll this week found overwhelmingly that Americans believe the Afghan war was not worth fighting, Biden isn't getting thanked. The poll found his overall approval at just 41 percent, with 55 percent disapproving.

"I don't know if Biden will be permanently damaged," Mark Rom, a professor of government, told AFP. "But the Republicans will do everything in their power to see that he is."

Charles Franklin, director of the Marquette Law School Poll, said that given the unpopularity of the Afghan war, Biden may yet ride the disaster out.

"The political question, once we have completely withdrawn, is whether the majority will be glad we aren't there anymore. If so, then the issue is likely to fade," he said.A

GOP Pols Call for Biden Impeachment, Resignation Over Kabul Suicide Attacks

GetFile.aspx?guid=41acb3a1-39c9-4e1e-b521-5e8a67826244&SiteName=Newsmax&maxsidesize=600

Several high-profile GOP politicians quickly lined up Thursday to call for the impeachment or resignation of President Joe Biden after Thursday’s suicide attacks at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Nikki Haley, former ambassador to the United Nations, gave an unequivocal ''yes'' to whether Biden should step down or be removed, ''but that would leave us with Kamala Harris which would be ten times worse,'' she tweeted . ''God help us.''

Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, also insisted Biden be removed from office.

''If President Trump can be impeached over a phone call, then the time has come to IMPEACH Biden for gross negligence in Afghanistan," he tweeted . "Americans deserve better. We deserve better than someone who willfully IGNORES the WORST crisis in decades."

In another tweet, he added: "There will be time for investigations and assigning blame later, but we do need a new Commander-in-Chief NOW! The leadership that got us into this does not have the competence and will to get us out. People are now officially dying!!"

Reps. Byron Donalds , R-Fla., and Claudia Tenney , R-N.Y., similarly issued strongly worded statements calling for accountability, and either an impeachment or resignation.

Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., tweeted that Biden was unfit to be commander in chief. "Joe Biden has blood on his hands. The buck stops with the President of the United States.''

U.S. Senate candidate Sean Parnell tweeted  that Biden ''has lost the moral authority to lead our nation. Americans are now dead because of his incompetence. It didn’t have to be this way. He should resign as Commander in Chief."

Congressional candidate Lavern Spicer of Florida also called for resignation or impeachment, and fellow candidate Amanda Makki of Florida favored invocation of the 25 th Amendment, which lays out procedures for replacing the president.

"Afghanistan and the southern border are a coordinated 1-2 punch in the face of American safety," tweeted Spicer. "We can’t take much more. Impeach Biden NOW before it’s too late!"

At least 12 U.S. service members were among the dead in the Kabul attacks on Thursday, including 11 Marines and one Navy corpsman, according to two U.S. officials. Officials say a number of U.S. military troops were wounded and warned the toll could grow.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby also confirmed the blasts and said there were casualties, including among members of the military, but gave no figure. He said one explosion was near an airport entrance and another was a short distance away by a hotel.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I seed from mainstream conservative news and opinion sources.  That some call them questionable is not an issue with me.  A badge of honor actually and a great way to show my sheer and utter undying contempt for those who call our sides sources questionable.  We conservatives are not going to moderate or change our view of news and opinion to conform to your point of view.  At least the lamestream media got called out trying to make today’s news issues about the GOP.

CNN is getting blasted for framing a story on the deadly Kabul terror attacks amid President Biden 's turbulent military withdrawal from Afghanistan

At least 12 U.S. service members were killed among dozens of others in two bombings outside of the Kabul airport.

However, CNN ran a story using a long-running "Republicans pounce" trope, which media outlets implement to shift the focus on GOP reactions to events that reflect negatively on Democrats, declaring in the headline, "Republicans point fingers at Biden moments after Kabul blasts."

MSNBC'S MALCOLM NANCE ON KABUL SUICIDE BOMBING THAT KILLED AT LEAST 12 US SERVICEMEN: ‘#DEALWITHIT’

"Republicans in Congress quickly escalated their criticism of President Joe Biden's withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan after two explosions outside Kabul's airport on Thursday caused the first American casualties since the mass evacuation began," CNN wrote. "While some prayed for the safety of American troops and diplomats in the immediate aftermath of the attack, other Republicans did not hesitate to blame Biden."

The lede from CNN's report was shared on Twitter, sparking intense backlash among critics.

"Every. Time," RealClearPolitics co-founder and president Tom Bevan reacted.

"Deadliest day for American troops in Afghanistan in 18 months from a terror attack at Kabul airport, in conditions the Biden Administration created * Republicans notice * CNN:" The Spectator contributor Stephen Miller wrote….

I'll bet the Bush presidency was "shaken to the core" by 9/11, and that the FDR presidency was "shaken to the core" by Japan's attack on Hawall.  Seems to me it happens, doesn't it.  The thing is that both of those events caused the whole country to unite behind its POTUS.  However, there's no way that most of the right-wingers, including those on this site, have that kind of backbone and integrity, but they will jump at the chance to divide the nation even more.

Non-Americans are still humans just like most rational Americans, no better or worse, though for anyone who continues to suck dirty Donald's dick while spouting bullshit out their assholes about how fucking great they think they are even though they worship an accused sexual predator, serial liar and self admitted pussy grabber one might begin to wonder whether they might just be bottom feeding animals who don't deserve even a sliver of pity or empathy. In other words, you comprehend that a POTUS is quite as capable of doing something right as he/she is of doing something wrong.  Well, I felt the same way about your hero.  He was the only POTUS who kept his promise of moving the Embassy to Jerusalem, and he or his administration brought about the Abraham Accords.  But I wonder if you would admit that he also did anything wrong, like how he handled the Coronavirus pandemic, for example, or will you just look for excuses, like he "didn't want people to panic".

Detailed Report

Bias Rating: LEAST BIASED
Factual Reporting: HIGH

Media Type: News Agency
Traffic/Popularity: High Traffic
MBFC Credibility Rating: HIGH CREDIBILITY

History

Founded in 1835, Agence France-Presse (AFP) is an international French news agency headquartered in Paris, France. French writer and translator Charles-Louis Havas founded Agence France-Presse (AFP)  as Agency Havas. In the early days, Charles-Louis Havas translated articles from foreign papers, selling the translations to bankers, traders, and politicians using carrier pigeons to dispatch news. Agence Havas was the first to start using the Morse Telegraph , which enabled them  to transmit news quickly and became a primary means of distribution throughout France and Europe. Subsequently, Charles-Louis Havas transformed his company into a multinational advertising and public relations company.

Two of his employees, Paul Julius Reuter and Bernard Wolff, later founded their own news agencies, Reuters in London and Wolff in Germany.  Following the liberation of Paris in 1944, Journalists of the French Resistance established  AFP (Agence France-Presse) as a wire service . The French government gave AFP the assets of Agence Havas, including the Paris building that became its headquarters.

As of April 2018, The Chairman & Chief Executive Officer is Fabrice Fries . Agence France-Presse’s Global Editor in Chief is Philip Chetwynd.

Funded by / Ownership

In 1981, the New Internationalist published an article called “The Big Four” (referring to the ‘big four’ news agencies United Press International , Associated Press , Reuters , and Agence France Presse) in which they described Agence France Presse as “AFP is the only one which depends on subsidy from the government of its company – usually through official subscriptions by government offices. As a result, it is often regarded as the voice of the French government.”

Currently, Agence France-Presse (AFP) is still supported financially by the French state and gets up to 40 percent of its funding from the French government but maintains its editorial independence by parliament. In April 2018, AFP’s chairman and CEO Emmanuel Hoog stepped down after failing to secure government support. The French state only controls three of the 18 seats on AFP’s board; however, a CEO can’t operate without its confidence since the French government, through its various agencies, is AFP’s principal source of revenue.

Analysis / Bias

In review, AFP delivers news in video, text, photographs, multimedia, graphics, and video graphics. Agence France Presse (AFP) utilizes neutral headlines such as “Poland’s Supreme Court top judge defies retirement law”   and “ Waves of strikes pound south Syria after talks fail.” All information contained in news articles is sourced through quotations, links, and the use of field journalists covering stories. A factual search reveals that AFP has not failed any fact checks. In fact, AFP is considered a credible fact-checker in itself.

According to a Slate article , AFP first distributed and then tried to retract an unflattering photo of French President Francois Hollande, but this caused criticism as Slate states, “AFP had bowed to political pressure, thus causing some people to call into question the agency’s credibility.” Further, some organizations, such as the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), claim that AFP has an anti-Israel bias. However, The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) is a powerful Boston-based  lobby group  that tries to curb criticism of Israel in U.S. media. In other words, CAMERA has a strong pro-Israel bias.

Although we did not find substantial evidence of State bias in our review, it must be considered that 40% of their funding comes from the French government, which may influence reporting.

Failed Fact Checks

  • None to date. They are an IFCN fact-checker.

Overall, we rate AFP Least Biased based on balanced story selection and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing. (7/25/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 3/08/2021)

I am a proud Trump supporter and am glad that it’s base has taken over the party from the establishment elites.  Populist America First nationalism is the GOP now. Trumpism whether Trump runs again or not lives on proudly and completely unrepentant.  The real sickness that pervades and perverts American politics and political dialogue is secular progressive left elites, not what you said.  We are going to be a huge factor in American politics for the foreseeable future.

Did you complain when Jerry Ford cut bait and ran from Vietnam without saying a word to the American people?

I was 8 years old. I believe at the time I was more concerned about not getting the shit kicked out of me by bullies. I do remember enjoying the fact that my dad returned home. Growing up in military housing I knew where Vietnam was; I knew what Vietnam was roughly about; but that was it. Tell me, did Ford leave US citizens stranded in Vietnam behind enemy lines? Did he leave them in Vietnam to meet some arbitrary departure date?

Did you complain when Ronnie Reagan cut bait and pulled the Marines out of Beirut?

Talking to the wrong damn person. We should never have been in Beirut to begin with, so I had no damn problem with leaving. Again, did we leave US civilians stranded behind enemy lines? Did we leave them in Beirut to meet some arbitrary departure date?

Did you complain when Reagan & Bush did nothing to avenge a dozen attacks on embassies?

Your liberal biases are really showing through. What about embassies that were attacked under Obama, remember Benghazi? What about the attacks against the US while Clinton was in charge? What about the USS Cole attack? Want me to go on? Almost forgot; what about the hostage situation under Carter? This could get very long so I will make it damn simple. I would be against any president that left US civilians and those nationals that aided us stranded behind enemy lines due to his sheer damn incompetence, period. I don't give a damn about party; left or right; or any of that other bullshit. If you don't believe me look at my comments about Bush Jr- wasn't a fan of either Afghanistan or Iraq. Obama and reentering Iraq; the two surges in Afghanistan and his SOFA agreement; Libya; Syria; Ukraine; Yemen; and his extra judicial drone killings.

Biden is standing his ground.

You call capitulating to the Taliban "standing his ground"? Your are setting a very low bar for a very bad president.

I think it's refreshing.

Will it be as refreshing when Biden pulls US troops out on the 31st leaving behind thousand of US citizens stranded in Afghanistan. Not even Biden's own party says he will be able to get them all out in time. That is not even counting those that aided us; which there are far more of. Refreshing would be having a president that didn't allow it to come to this.

It's a shame no one listens to US Ambassadors in this country. ( or CBS News )

The only Americans who will be stranded have done so by their own choice.

Ambassador Ross Wilson claims he and the Embassy have been harassing and hounding Americans

in the strongest possible terms since MARCH 2021 and still the Americans stayed...

Furthermore he says they are in negotiations with the current recognized ( By China) Afghan government

to allow any Americans safe passage after the withdrawal is complete

What we left behind was the following.

220 Marines, 18 Navy sailors and three Army killed  from the suicide bombing of the Marine barracks and a shortly before that he left behind 63 dead at the bombing of the US Embassy which included 17 American civilians. Another 100 plus Marines were seriously wounded in the Marine barracks bombing.

The government of the USA made a binding contract with the Taliban,

unofficially recognizing their legal authority to negotiate an end to a 20 year old fiasco.

China officially recognized the Taliban 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Ask John Bolton what the options were.

Trump and Chris Miller had the number of troops needed down to 2,500 in a country of 38 million hostiles.

The message from the Embassy since March has been to get out of Dodge. ASAP

but Americans are ridiculously stubborn.

They would rather risk death than take proven vaccines

or risk death in a continuing civil war between ISIS and the Taliban.

But you be you with your brilliant 100% truthful opinions /s

1.3 million casualties of military personnel in US history

620,000 due to the Civil War and 405,000 for WWII

currently the War on terror was 7,061,

now 7,074

The 'disaster' also killed 180 Afghans don't you want to blame Biden for that also?

The war on terror is far from over.

Meanwhile we negotiate with the new government for a future diplomatic presence.

The issue was the execution of it and the order that things were done and the conditions that the Taliban complied with.  Trump had an orderly plan had he been re elected.  Biden could not have done a worse more disorganized and stupid plan than what he did and how he did it.

620,000 due to the Civil War and 405,000 for WWII

It's telling you cite a War that ended slavery and a war that stopped totalitarian imperialists as disasters.

But of course this is part and parcel of the Orwellian war being waged by knee jerk progressives on the English language in service of their partisan obessions. Of course, what happened in Kabul is the textbook definition of a disaster. As I pointed out, even Democrats Congressmen  who aren't Biden lackeys have no problem calling it that.

I can't believe I have to do this since there are no good faith objections to characterizing the murder of almost 200 people as a disaster, [ deleted ] From rthe Cambridge dictionary:

Disaster:

an   event   causing   great   harm ,   damage , or   suffering :
[   C/U   ]   financial   disaster
[   U   ]   disaster   aid / relief
[   C   ]   Over 100   people   died   in the disaster.
[   C   ]   The   hurricane   may be the   costliest   natural   disaster in US   history .

The deaths of 200 is significantly more than the 13 your fellow conservatives have their panties in a bunch over.

The last two USMC killed at Saigon's Airport were "forgotten" when we "evacuated" Saigon.

A year later Senator Ted Kennedy arranged for the remains of Judge and McMahon to be returned to the States.

The last battle of the Vietnam War did not go as planned either.

The SS Mayaguez was captured by Khmer Rouge and an USMC assault recaptured the ship but found no crew members.

Assuming them to be on the island where the ship was anchored the Marines attacked Koh Tang.

They fought until they ran out of ammunition, calling for reinforcements.

Multiple helicopters were shot down over East Beach or crashing enroute killing 2 dozen airmen and Marines.

14 dead Marines were left behind and for whatever reason 3 live Marines were left on the beach.

Hall, Hargrove and Marshall were captured during the next week or two and eventually beat to death or executed.

Many remains have since been recovered but none belonged to Hall, Hargrove or Marshall.

Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command is still investigating but the site has since been commercialized and paved over or built upon.

There is no real expectation to ever close their cases.

The official government account tries to put lipstick on a pig.

Near Disaster
Marines landed on Koh Tang in Air Force helicopters to rescue the crew, but incomplete intelligence made the operation a near disaster. Expecting only light opposition, the USAF helicopters instead faced heavy fire from a large force. The Cambodians shot down four helicopters, damaged five more and killed 14 Americans. More U.S. troops and aircraft urgently moved to reinforce the 131 Marines and five USAF aircrew trapped on Koh Tang.

As the assault unfolded, the Mayaguez crew appeared in a small boat, and were rescued unharmed. President Ford halted offensive action, and the operation shifted from assault to rescuing the trapped Marines.

Determined Rescue
Another 100 Marines moved into Koh Tang to reinforce and extract the trapped Marines. Coordinated USAF support by attack aircraft, forward air controllers, rescue helicopters and gunships pounded Cambodian targets while the Americans on the ground fought hard to maintain their positions.

Only three USAF helicopters were left to extract more than 200 troops. They tried time and again, braving fierce, accurate fire, but were repeatedly driven off. Finally, they reached the beach and recovered 129 Marines in multiple trips, landing them quickly on Navy ships and returning to the island for more. On the last trip to the beach, USAF pararescueman Tech. Sgt. Wayne Fisk left his helicopter to find two missing Marines still laying down covering fire. He led them to the helicopter, and the 14-hour rescue ended as the aircraft left under fire.

Three Marines, inadvertently left on the island in the darkness and confusion, were killed and buried there within a few days by the Khmer Rouge. Total U.S. casualties included 18 dead and 50 wounded. Twenty-three more USAF personnel died in a support force helicopter crash in Thailand due to mechanical failure.

Quick, effective action at Koh Tang by USAF, Marine and Navy forces prevented a bad situation from becoming much worse. In particular, the persistence, determination and heroism of USAF helicopter crews saved many lives. The action at Koh Tang between May 12-15, 1975, was the last combat in Southeast Asia for U.S. forces.

Sounds like someone with serious experience writing fit reps wrote the article especially the last paragraph.

If you don't know something look it up and try to keep it in context.

I know speaking about geopolitics with you is a complete waste of time, but we have seen the same problem before in

the Korean conflict and in Vietnam where North & South were artificially created leaving families split on either side of

the borders.

The South VN had no stomach to fight their cousins and uncles from the north.

South Korea came within days of the same fate.

Afghanistan is 10 times worse.

It's not a right/left issue and it certainly wasn't a Democrat vs Republican issue in the late 60's and early 70's.

Both parties had pretty equal numbers of conservatives and liberals but the Democrats were still regarded as the

conservatives and dominant until Nixon won in 1968 on the promise of getting us out of Vietnam by "winning the peace".

Johnson had already halted bombing the North by air or sea.

Under Nixon and Vietnamization Nixon pushed for more training and better weapons for the South but he helped spread

the war into Laos and Cambodia too, insisting his executive powers allowed him to do so.

Congress reacted 70-16 to eliminate spending for Laos & Cambodia, followed up with more reductions in spending

and eventually the War Powers Act which Nixon vetoed but the Senate and House each overrode the veto by 244-135

and 75 - 18.

Sure, just keep throwing money at the problem.

When we stopped throwing unending money at the ARVN they collapsed.

Not nearly as spectacularly as the 'Afghan Security Forces" mind you,

but nation building isn't our thing.

It only worked when we were allowed to stay almost indefinitely in Germany, Korea & Japan.
