Do problems Need Solutions or Just Someone to Blame?
By: Robert in Ohio • politics • 162 comments • 10 months ago
Too many people (I included from time to time I am sure) are so focused on blaming someone for a problem, that they display no interest, enthusiasm or effort to actually solve the problem.
This is the #1 problem with politicians masquerading as public servants at all levels of government.
For example millions, possibly billions of dollars are being spent campaigning - think of the effect that...
Do We Take Ourselves Too Seriously?
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 40 comments • 10 months ago
I came across some very interesting quotes and sayings that we should all think about before we get all in a huff about a situation or about some comment some random individual makes.
Perhaps we should consider source
To me, political office should be like jury duty. You should just get a notice in mail one day and be like, "I'm Secretary of State next month!" -- Wanda Sykes

What a Loser Looks Like in Court
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 15 comments • 10 months ago
I for one am tired of the lying, preaching and pontificating and just want verdicts on all the trials.
But I saw this article and the sketch just said "Loser" to me.
Do you agree?
The picture tells the story but this sketch is even better

I would like people to share an instance / example from the current situation in our country or the world that seems to fit this subject.
I will start --
Many large U.S. cities, who have stablished themselves as "Sanctuary Cities" find themselves in dire straits financially, with rising crime rates, lower quality of life for their residents and declining tourism dollars because of ever growing...
Ancient Egyptian Wisdom for Modern Life
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 40 comments • 11 months ago
As many other cultures have done throughout time and across the world , ancient Egyptian culture generated its fair share of proverbs. Rooted in a history that spans millennia, these proverbial gems have passed down wisdom through countless generations.
Many of these ancient proverbs are 100% applicable to the society we live in and the problems we face. Here are a couple of my...
Looking for Treasure

I came across this quote today and it reinforced to me the idea that "Our children as our future".
"Watching toddler TV gives you the impression you are going to run across a lot more treasure chests in life than you actually do."

I recently spent a week entertaining (some might say I was supposed to be babysitting) my two-year-old granddaughter and never have I felt so alive and...
A Unity ticket for 2024
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 29 comments • 11 months ago
The Washington establishment is often so certain – and so wrong – about the future. Remember when they told you a Republican “red wave” was coming in the 2022 midterms? Or that Hillary Clinton had a “100% chance of winning the election” in 2016 against Donald Trump? Keep this in mind next time you hear that an independent ticket could never win the White House in 2024. No Labels has...

It is Almost Halloween in Our Village
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 33 comments • 6 years ago
I love the little village I live in and Halloween is a much loved holiday around here and also a time with a lot of events that residents of the village are expected to participate in, not least important among them is to be at home, with your porch light on and a big bowl of candy by the door between the hours of 4PM and 6:00PM on the night designated for trick or treating by the...
My Flower Garden
By: Robert in Ohio • life choices • 18 comments • 6 years ago
As we get closer and closer to winter, the leaves are changing colors and falling to the ground and there are very few flowers left to see in the wild or in the yards of my neighbors.
I flipped through the many pictures of flowers I took this year and realized how important my flower garden is to me
When I retired, I was not sure what I was going to do to "keep busy" - I played a lot of golf,...
