Newsmax, the conservative cable channel beloved by the ex-president, sunk to a new low on Friday evening by compiling a panel to disparage President Joe Biden’s aging German Shepherd, Champ.
“Did you see the dog? I want to show you something I noticed,” began self-proclaimed dog lover Greg Kelly, who has previously used his show to push conspiracy theories about President Donald Trump’s election loss.
Kelly then showed a photograph of the 12-year-old, slightly graying Champ lying in what appears to be the Oval Office.
“That dog needs a bath and a comb and all kinds of love and care,” he stated, without evidence.
Champ is one of the Biden family’s two German Shepherds. The other, Major, is a 3-year-old rescue (and the first shelter dog to make a home in the White House). “I don’t know how much love and care he is getting,” Kelly continued, adding, unnecessarily: “This dog looks like, I’m sorry, from the junkyard.”
The Newsmax host then brought on two guests. One, Craig Shirley, joined the bizarre criticism of Champ, saying the dog looks “very dirty and disheveled and very unlike a presidential dog.”
Newsmax ― and Kelly in particular ― has provided Trump a safe haven from criticism in the wake of his election loss, with the host claiming as late as mid-December that he thought there was still a good chance Trump could be sworn in for a second term.
Earlier this month, Biden pups Champ and Major made a notable appearance in a public service announcement with first lady Jill Biden on the importance of wearing masks as the pandemic continues — “even while walking your dog,” Biden said.

It's jealousy. If he should live out Biden's term, Champ will have spent more time in the White House than Trump did, taking into account visits while Biden was VP.
Come to think of it, if we consider Trump's golfing trips, Champ might not have to live out Biden's term to have spent more time in the WH than Trump did.

The longest lived GS was 18 years old, but the average is between 9 and 13, meaning Champ has already lived longer than most.

I had a dog that was part German Shephard. She lived to 13.
Champ is a 12 year old dog. A large dog. Large dogs age quickly. I mean he's the equivalent to a 91* year old human in dog years. I wonder if these guys will look as good as this dog when they're 81?
*My mom always said that a dog aged 14 years the first year of its life. If that's true, Champ is actually 98.

When they got Saddam Hussein, I said to my parish priest I hope he burns in hell. Father Bob quickly admonished me and said it was not for me to decide. I always remembered that. So when I found out Rushie died, I smiled and said...awww...that's too bad. But I didn't condemn him to hell.
I didn't celebrate Rush's death. But I won't condemn those who did, especially my gay friends who, if they'd died of AIDS, would have had their graves danced on by Rush. He was nasty to a lot of people. There are consequences for nastiness, and having people glad you can no longer be nasty is a pretty minor consequence.

Champ is a rescue dog and is now first dog. To call him a junk yard dog is not only in error but an insult to all rescued dogs. Greg is an ahole.
I am happy President Biden has 2 German Shepard dogs in the White House. They are presidential dogs and it is good to have an old dog and a younger dog
