Newsome Recall Failing Dramatically

Steve Kornacky of NBC News has called the California recall election in favor of Gavin Newsome less than 40 minutes after polls closed.

Kornacky says the "no" vote on recall is running 30 pts ahead of "yes" .

If "no" to recall wins by 20 or 30 points, how will Elder be able to claim "voter fraud"?

He claimed fraud yesterday.

Trump claimed fraud prior to the presidential elections in 2016 and 2020. ..but only if he lost.  Larry's an idiot if he thought that taking a page from his idol's playbook was going to help him.  Like village, like idiot.

Also, it seems like one would know they suck if they get egged while strolling through a homeless encampment.

It's a landslide.  It's over.  I'm very proud of our wonderful state tonight.

Now, we need to get back to work.

Your state needs to get rid of this recall vote. It's too parliamentary.

Either get rid of it or modify it significantly.

The modifications being discussed include requiring the signatures of a greater percentage of voters to qualify a recall and to allow the incumbent to be one of the candidates running on the replacement ballot.

I'm not certain that I want the recall to be totally eliminated, but I definitely want it to be modified.

$300 million spent because some whiny Republicans tried to use Covid safety protocols as a wedge issue. Worthless fucking pond scum who got just enough signatures to clear a very low bar. This will be changed in the future, real Californians have had enough of the attempted manipulation by butthurt conservative whiners.

They constantly bitch and moan about CA government spending than force a $300M recall all in an attempt to gain power, you really can't get more slimy and hypocritical than the right wing conservatives who forced this on California.

If this was any Red State where a minority of Democrats forced a $300M recall of a Republican governor they didn't like because he was rejecting common sense Covid safety protocols like the dipshits in Texas and Florida the Republicans would have been screaming to high heaven. Instead we hear them cheering on their right wing fellows trying to oust a Democratic Governor for sticking to the CDC guidelines and trying to keep his citizens safe from a pandemic.

These right wing nut jobs are basically saying "How dare you try and protect our lives! We want Governors who don't give a fuck about the pandemic, we should have the right to get infected and infect anyone who associates with us! Screw you scientists, hospitals, hospital staff, family of those I infect and the community around me! I don't wear a mask or social distance because it's my God given right to fuck over and possible kill anyone who is around me!".

I've no doubt those are the same fucking morons who believe in lizard people hiding among us, a 'deep state', that fluoride in the water is controlling minds and that their political opponents eat babies.

The recall results provide a political mandate for Newsom to continue to implement his policies, reinforces the cohesion of California Democrats, is a big win for Biden and energizes Democrats nationally heading into 2022.

It also shows Trump and the Trumpist loonies as the losers they are.

He is about as interesting as a political figure as a wildebeest!  Do not miss the part where old Larry did not extend his hand, words, or deeds across the partition to offer any consideration or concession to democratic voters. Now if California had been voting for,

"Most Uninteresting Man"  Larry Elder, I can see that.

I was watching Steve Kornacki "receiving" the counties input and as he got up to "high country" Northern California, he mentioned something I found interesting: 'These are republican, rural, sparsely populated counties. . . .' Kornacki stated.

All I could think of is Jefferson (and his "megaphone" on social media) wanting California and by extension this nation to live life as it is in "sparsely populated" areas. Imagine that. Los Angeles or San Francisco or San Diego or San Jose putting forward their best rural life!

Wow Jefferson! Wow! Y'all got some big aspirations in high country!

In the end, Newsome ended up winning the recall by a stronger margin than he won the original election. The butthurt people who lack the maturity to simply wait for the next election would have had us believe that there was some groundswell of animus to remove him, but clearly nothing could be more false.

I normally oppose recalls except in a serious emergency where the official is either not doing his job or doing it so insanely that the people genuinely need for him to go - kinda like what should probably happen in Florida right now.

Now we can address how a candidate that receives 49.9999999999999999999999999999% of the vote can be replaced by a candidate that received just 2% of the vote?

Thanks.

Almost twice as many voters left question #2 blank than voted for Larry Elder in votes counted thus far.

As of Wednesday morning totals, there were 9,137,428 total votes cast on question one (Shall Gavin Newsom be recalled?), and just 5,057,445 cast on question two.

That means that 4,079,983 voters — or a whopping 44.7% of the electorate — left question two blank (or wrote someone in).  It's estimated that around two-thirds of ballots have been counted statewide, so that 44.7% figure will likely shift in the coming days.

When looking at question two results after factoring in the large number of people who left it blank, the "actual" results are as follows:

1. No one (blank) 44.7%
2. Larry Elder 26.0%
3. Kevin Paffrath 5.4%
4. Kevin Faulconer 4.8%

The ballot was a tad—okay real-time confusing. So much so that I phoned the California Democratic Party to ask besides "NO" who else were that backing as a 'second.' They said, 'Just say NoAnd, return.

Which is what we did, rather inconspicuously so at that. No one murmured excessively are threw 'hissy fits,' about the bad form style that I know. We did good ALL-AROUND.  A model mature vote.
