Microsoft first revealed it would allow Xbox gamers to play against PS4 and PC players  at E3 last year , and Sony’s initial reaction seemed like it  would be open to the idea . "We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play,” said a Sony spokesperson at the time. This week at E3, both  Rocket League  and  Minecraft  are going cross-platform play, allowing players on Nintendo’s Switch, a Windows PC, Mac, or Xbox One to...

Are Libertarians For Real?

I would like to see a discussion based on this premise-   Libertarianism is an impractical governing philosophy.   I have a couple other questions .   What is the basis for ownership of private property , absent a governing body? Let say you "own" a house by a nice lake. You leave to go on a vacation 500 miles away. While you are gone I come to the location of your lake house, and move in, taking "ownership" of it. Now what?

So... we know that Donald Trump says and does stuff that is crazy. Bad for Americans and everyone else in the world. Irrational.  But even irrational acts have motives... so what is Donald Trump's source of motivation. He blusters. He shouts down anyone who disagrees with him. He is constantly trying to prove how tough he is... but his method for proving it is reminiscent of little boys on a playground, emulating their heroes. They strut like roosters. They almost crow like...

I haven't been around for a while due to a couple of back to back personal problems.  First, in early March I started to feel not so well. I felt very tired all day, constantly coughing and dealing with what I thought was the affect of the incurable Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)  I had been diagnosed of having 2 - 3 years ago. In a way that was the reason for my constant coughing spells, however the chest congestion I had was unknowingly compounded by a case of pneumonia I had been...

Driving your first car again for a day - a wish and a dream My first car was a 1950 Ford Custom Coach that I drove when I was 16 and 17 years old.  It looked like this, save that it was beige with a brown top: That's the manual 3-speed gearshift mounted on the steering column.  Note that the radio is A.M. only with five manual push-buttons that could be set on specific stations. The radio dial on the left was on/off/volume and the one on the right was to move back and...

Five classic muscle cars going up for auction – which would you pick?  The 2017 Houston Mecum Auction is full of drool-worthy muscle, but here are our favourite s by  Clayton Seams, Driving, March 31, 2017 Muscle cars lived hard lives. Often bought by young and sometimes reckless drivers, most were raced, modified and put away wet. Making them rarer still is that when the old sheetmetal finally gave up, most were looted for the high-compression V8s to put into another...

A Young Pear Tree Brings Comfort to Grieving Children By Neil Willenson, Huffington Post, May 30 2015 Finding the right words to comfort dozens of crying children can be a challenge. I was surrounded by more than 100 children of fallen U.S. service members at Camp Hometown Heroes — a free summer camp that is a hybrid of both recreation and healing opportunities. Yet, not all tears are unhealthy as for many of the children, this week in the woods was the one place they could cry freely...

I was determined to visit all 50 states. I soon discovered I wasn’t alone. By Christine Dell'Amore My father, a traveling businessman, likes to joke that I would happily tag along with him to Ames, Iowa; Gary, Ind.; or any other American town that’s not on most tourist maps. It’s true. If you have an open mind and an adventurer’s spirit, every place has something worth your time. Had I believed the nonsense about Nebraska being a “flyover state,” for instance, I would...

Lust, Lies And Empire: The Fishy Tale Behind Eating Fish On Friday Did the pope really make a secret pact to sell more fish? No, but the real story of eating fish on Fridays is much more fantastical. Adam Cole/NPR It sounds like the plot of a Dan Brown thriller: A powerful medieval pope makes a secret pact to prop up the fishing industry that ultimately alters global economics. The result: Millions of Catholics around the world end up eating fish on Fridays as part...

Phrases Smart People Refuse To Use In Conversation Published on January 9, 2017Featured in: What Inspires Me Dr. Travis Bradberry We’ve all said things that people interpreted much differently than we thought they would. These seemingly benign comments lead to the awful feeling that only comes when you’ve planted your foot firmly into your mouth. Verbal slip-ups often occur because we say things without knowledge of the subtle implications they carry. Understanding these...

Cuba: 60 Years Later by   Alan M. Dershowitz , Gatestone Institute, March 10, 2017 at 1:20 pm I finally made it to Cuba -- nearly 60 years after first trying. It was Christmas Vacation during my senior year at Brooklyn College. Five members of Knight House – the poor folks version of a live at home fraternity at my commuter college –decided to visit Havana. Our motives were not entirely pure. Yes, we wanted to see the old City of Havana and its cultural gems....
