DMV Censorshit
THIS PLATE MAY BE CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE TO OTHERS AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE ISSUED

Sponsored by group SiNNERs and ButtHeads

SiNNERs and ButtHeads

I recently went to the local branch of the North Carolina DMV and I purchased a personalized license tag for my car.  I knew I couldn't get " IMPEACH ! " because I had checked it out online and it wasn't available.  The clerk entered my new "tag line" (" MPEACH ! ") in the computer and I paid the fee of $30.00.  He assured me that I would receive my new tag by mail in about 2 weeks.

I never received my tag.  Instead of a tag, I received this letter:

800

The letter says:

"PERSONALIZED LICENSE PLATE MPEACH ! WAS REQUESTED FOR YOU IN ERROR.  THIS PLATE MAY BE CONSIDERED OFFENSIVE TO OTHERS AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE ISSUED."

Yeah, I guess the guy at the end of the block, who wears a MAGA hat and has the huge confederate flag flying, would cry when my car goes by.  There would probably be weeping bigots all over town.

So the State North Cakalacky has decided to violate my First Amendment rights to protect the tender feelings of the members of the fucking KKK.

If I was wealthy, I would sue the state.

Maybe I should write to the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department to give the Attorney General a good laugh.

800

This site cannot violate anyone's First Amendment rights.  This site is not constrained by the First Amendment because it is not a government run site.  NewsTalkers can censor anything they want to on this site.

The First Amendment only protects us from government censorshit.  The state government censored my license tag.  That constitutes a First Amendment violation.

choose life

Choose life, my ass. They choose birth. And that's it. After that baby leaves the birth canal, all bets are off. Ask the state for financial aid to take care of your baby? Then she's leech on society according to many on the right. No welfare, they cry. The decision to abort involves the ability to care for the child, whether the child is really wanted since it might get in the way of drug use, etc. It cannot be an easy decision. I have thoughts on how that can be remedied, but it involves finding the father through DNA, registering with the federal government via IRS that the father is obligated to pay of all health and welfare expenses for the child through maturity. If they don't pay, the IRS gets them. But I digress.

Here is just one example of the statistics of what happens to babies who are born on demand by the people who don't give a shit about what really happens to them.

Fatal child abuse or neglect is the fatal physical injury or negligent treatment of a child by a person who is responsible for the child’s welfare. It is reported that more than 1,700 children in the U.S. die of child abuse and neglect each year, and the actual number of abuse and neglect deaths is estimated to be much higher than that reported by vital statistics data.

Young children are the most vulnerable victims. National statistics show that children under four years of age account for 81.6% of all maltreatment deaths and infants account for over half of those. Fifty-nine percent of the child fatalities in 2011 were boys. One or both parents were perpetrators in 78.3% of all maltreatment deaths. Fatal abuse is interrelated with poverty, domestic violence and substance abuse.

One serious type of physical abuse is abusive head trauma, injuries that occur when a child’s head is slammed against a surface or severely struck, or when a child is violently shaken. AHT occurs most frequently in infants, particularly in the first two months of life. There have been major improvements in the ability to diagnose abusive head trauma and in investigators’ abilities to recognize when a caregiver’s explanation for injuries do not match the severity of the injuries. For example, it is now widely accepted that falls from short heights or a child being accidentally dropped rarely cause extensive and severe head injuries.

Another frequent cause of physical abuse deaths is punches or kicks to the abdomen, leading to internal bleeding. Other forms of fatal physical abuse include immersion into hot water, drowning and smothering. Many children who die from physical abuse have been abused over time, but a one-time event can also cause death. The most common reason given by caretakers who fatally injure their children is that they lost patience when the child would not stop crying. Other common reasons given by the abusers include bedwetting, fussy eating and disobedient behavior.

Fatalities from neglect result from any of a number of different ways that caregivers fail to adequately provide for or supervise their children. Caregivers may fail to provide food and nurturing to their child, leading to malnutrition, failure to thrive, starvation or dehydration. Caregivers may fail to seek medical care when their child is ill, leading to more serious illness and death. Neglect cases can also result from intentional or grossly negligent failure to adequately supervise a child, resulting in bathtub drowning, suffocations, poisonings and other types of fatal incidents.

Some children who die from maltreatment are unknown to Child Protective Services at the time of their death. Child Maltreatment 2011, federal government statistics estimates about state-reported child maltreatment, estimates that 1,570 children died from abuse and neglect in 2011 and states that only 863 of those children were from families that had received Child Protective Services within the five years prior to the death.

Cite .

How many pro-birth people have foster children in their home? Kill a zygote? Horrors!! Into hell for eternity you go! But burn, starve, beat, sell into sex, neglect? A mere 'meh' for those people. Disgusting.

Then I suggest "HCAEPMI." The bad part about it, most of the remaining Traitor-In-Chief supporters won't get it. The supporters that thought he'd bring change have jumped ship. The only two factions of most of the remaining supporters are those who just "like to see demmies cry, so fuck the country" and thinly veiled racists. Neither faction is made up of deep thinkers, so again ... they just won't get it. Of course, if you park on the opposite side of the parking lane across from a guy with a confederate flag plate, he'll have to look in his mirror to back up.

OK, well anyway, I think it's an interesting case. The caselaw on this stuff varies a little depending on what part of the plate we're talking about and the reasons for controlling the speech.

For example, one of the seminal cases on license plates was from New Hampshire where someone objected to having the phrase "live free or die" on their plate. The Court decided their speech rights weren't at issue because it was actually the government that was speaking. This leads people (and states I think) to get the idea that everything on the plate is government speech, but I don't think that's true.

I believe that the part where you put your message constitutes what the courts call a "limited pubic forum." It's not a totally open public forum like streets, sidewalks, and parks where you can say anything. (Although even in an open public forum, obscenity will be prosecuted.)

The state has created this forum on their property (the plate) and opened it up to certain types of expression.

In a limited public forum, some speech could be excluded based on topic (or other factors, e.g. you can't have 40 letters on your plate), but it can never be excluded based on viewpoint. Unless your state has said that politics are not an allowable topic, your plate should be fine. They can't refuse your request just because someone doesn't like your political viewpoint. Call a civil rights lawyer and go for it. I would love to see that.

I have no problem with either your plate request or the choose life one. The state should not interfere unless a plate is obscene or sexual innuendo or racist ( and no, I don’t consider the use of the CSA flag in historical or veteran context as above to be racist) any race.  As a conservative used to seeing those who share my beliefs denied by blue state regimes, it’s kind karma like to see the shoe on the other foot.  And yes, I’m pro life with a very few exceptions, mostly the traditional big three.  Rape, Incest, not opposed to, LIFE of the mother, support unconditionally.

You might shop it around anyway. Most lawyers won't charge you just to hear your story. Somebody might take it on contingency pending a punitive award for violating your rights. Or they might take it just to be part of something that could be significant in terms of constitutional law. Bottom line is it doesn't hurt to ask.

I have no idea why you are accusing me of having a tantrum.

1.  The fact you are whining about it, in fact, shows you are having a tantrum.

2.  The fact you want it shows you are having a tantrum.

Apparently, it is.

Easterns.com has locations in Maryland, DC and Virginia.

It is clearly not a MD or DC tag due the the lack of the MD seal or the red White & Blue of the DC tags

but is most likely a VA tag, which are rather bland, use no space in the middle of the tag numbers/letters

and the tags must be the same front and rear in VA.

If it was because he is innocent of the charges, I am glad.  But if pressure or a payoff to the victim or officials resulted in this, I am not.  Spacey has been a favorite actor of mine for years and it hurt me to have boycotted him.

Supposedly incriminating evidence was not on the cell phone that was the key piece of evidence.

The accuser plead the 5th on the stand and the charges had to be dropped.

Kevin Spacey accuser and writer Ari Behn dies by suicide

Scandinavian writer Ari Behn — the ex-husband of Norwegian Princess Martha Louise who accused Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct — died this week, his manager said. He was 47.

Behn died by suicide Wednesday, his manager told the Norwegian news service NTB. Authorities said he was found at his home in Norway.

_________________

In 2017, Behn accused Spacey of groping him under the table at a Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo a decade earlier. It didn't appear that Behn ever pursued criminal charges or a lawsuit against Spacey.

Spacey didn't comment on the allegations at the time, which came amid a string of similar accusations. A lawyer for Spacey didn't respond to an email from The Associated Press seeking comment Thursday.

Behn is the second of Spacey's accusers to die in 2019. An anonymous massage therapist who alleged that Spacey tried to forcibly kiss him and forced him to grab the actor's genitals during massage sessions  died in September . Following the anonymous accuser's death, Los Angeles prosecutors rejected the sexual battery case related to his accusation. The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office stated the allegations couldn't be proven without the massage therapist's participation.

In addition to his accusers, another person connected to the allegations against Spacey, Linda Culkin, died in 2019 when she was struck crossing the street in Quincy, Massachusetts, in May.

I can't wait for the mandatory conspiracy theories.

I have an overall problem with NC and driving laws/enforcement.

Within the last few weeks, the ex (btw, that does not mean hate each others guts...she just couldn't take the stress of the GFC and just needed n escape...whatever). About 3 weeks apart she has had 2 vehicles totaled on her from being rear ended by drivers texting while driving. Most folsk in her area think it is legal to text while driving.

I am not a litigious person, but told her I would help her with this.

I must admit, the term texting was my interpretation of looking up from phone with "only 3 or 4 car lengths" before impact and not enough space to stop.

Mind you the ex was driving 45 - 50 mph both times.

Ooops. My bad. This is a repeat of my 1.1.17 since I put it in the wrong spot:

Then I suggest "HCAEPMI." The bad part about it, most of the remaining Traitor-In-Chief supporters won't get it. The supporters that thought he'd bring change have jumped ship. The only two factions of most of the remaining supporters are those who just "like to see demmies cry, so fuck the country" and thinly veiled racists. Neither faction is made up of deep thinkers, so again ... they just won't get it. Of course, if you park on the opposite side of the parking lane across from a guy with a confederate flag plate, he'll have to look in his mirror to back up.

Are lower case letters allowed on plates?

If you think about it, M, A, and H are all the same backwards or forwards, (viewed in a mirror for example they're still the same letters). A lower case q could look like a p to a mirror.  You see where I'm going.

"HCAEPMI" Even without the lower case would clearly come across as "IMPEACH" when viewed in a mirror.

Here's a portion of an Op/Ed on this very subject.

Kotler says he was referring to the widely used cheer for his beloved West London soccer team, the Fulham Football Club, whose players wear white jerseys and whose fans chant “Come on You Whites.” He explained this in detail in his appeal letter to the DMV, but still he was turned down. So Kotler, a professor of constitutional law at USC’s Annenberg School, filed suit against the DMV this week, arguing that its vaguely worded vanity-plate rules imposed content- and viewpoint-based restrictions, violating his rights under the 1st and 14th Amendments. (The DMV picked the wrong guy to mess with.) Kotler is right, and would be right even if his acronym was intended to be offensive. If the license plate is a platform for individual expression — and we believe it is — then the state should not dictate the content of the message. The DMV is not society’s guardian of “good taste and decency.”
