Look - I'm tired of people saying that all people in DC are part of the swamp.  That's simply not true.  The reason why DC has become a swamp is because of the slimy fucks that the rest of the country keeps voting into office and SENDING to DC.

DC isn't the problem.

There is a long  tradition of the Dems doing that very thing

You always say this outlandish stuff as if it's fact. Please link something that indicates a "long tradition" of Dems doing that. You say shit without linking anything even close to fact. If you don't know how to link articles and/or graphs, then say so. It's easy.

The political fact-checking site Politifact gave the claim that there was "serious voter fraud" in California a"Pants On Fire"rating at the time.

"Elections officials and nonpartisan observers in California said there were no widespread reports of voter fraud," Politifact's Chris Nichols wrote. "The state has some of the most stringent voter verification laws in the country. Allegations of fraud are so rare that Los Angeles County, the state's largest county, does not track them."

On Thursday, The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University tweeted in response to Trump's remarks, "study after study has shown that voter fraud is vanishingly rare, and voter impersonation is nearly non-existent."

Trump's claims have been widely criticized, by Democrats, Republicans and especially by election officials, who worry unsubstantiated claims about fraud will hurt voter confidence in elections.

Officials are already worried about the state of voter confidence heading into the 2018 midterm elections, aselection security concernshave come into the spotlighton Capitol Hilland nationally.

In January, the president dissolved the commission he set up to investigate claims of voter fraud. [Emphasis mine.]

"It's sad the president continues to recycle his same old lies," said California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, in a statement to NPR on Thursday. "His rants dishonor the thousands of local elections officials and volunteers, from across the political spectrum, who work hard to ensure the integrity of our elections."

Possibly they don't like the truth.

I wonder how many people who show up at these 'rallies' are promised to be paid and then stiffed, just like the towns who are left holding the bag for his security, and everything else, every time this turd holds one of his 'rallies' in their city.

It was a rhetorical question as you and I both know it's a simple lie.

I call bullshit. He HAS had paid attendees.

Thousands of union workers at a multibillion-dollar petrochemical plant being built outside Pittsburgh were given the choice of attending a speech by President Trump on Tuesday or staying away — and losing some of their pay for the week.

“Your attendance is not mandatory,” one of the construction site’s contractors wrote in rules for the speech that were shared with its employees,   according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which first reported on the matter. But the rules said that only those who arrived at 7 a.m., had their work IDs scanned and then stood waiting for the president for several hours would get paid for the time . [emphasis mine.]

“NO SCAN, NO PAY,” a supervisor for the contractor wrote, according to the paper.

The president’s appearance at the   Royal Dutch Shell facility   in Beaver County, where natural gas will be converted into plastic for a wide range of products, was publicized as a speech about energy, but it was   hard to distinguish it   from a standard campaign rally. Mr. Trump repeatedly targeted rivals and aired his political grievances.

Here's another, albeit from 2015:

In politics, "astroturfing" is the term for hiring people to attend a rally or event in order to lend the appearance of grassroots support. Astroturfing is typically contracted out to political consulting firms, much like Gotham GR. The practice is considered bad form.

Here's the full email from Extra Mile, with contact information redacted.

Hi there—

We are working helping one of are [sic] associates out at Gotham GR -     with a big event happening on TUESDAY 6/16/15.

This is an event in support of Donald Trump and an upcoming exciting announcement he will be making at this event.

This event is called “People for a Stronger America.” The entire group is a pro-small business group that is dedicated to encouraging Donald Trump and his latest ventures. This event will be televised.

We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement.

We understand this is not a traditional “background job,” but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought.

This event is happening LIVE and will be from 8:45AM-11:30AM. LESS THAN 3 HOURS

This will take place inside / interior.

The rate for this is: $50 CASH at the end of the event.

We would love to book you if you are interested and still available.

Please let us know and we will get back to you with confirmation.

Didn't Trump pose as John Barron , spokesperson for ... himself

Trump believed he was paying Flutie too much money, but he didn’t want to be the bad guy. Enter his fixer, John Barron.

Barron, identified as an executive vice president in the Trump Organization, was quoted by several news organizations, including the New York Times, as saying, “When a guy goes out and spends more money than a player is worth, he expects to get partial reimbursement from the other (USFL) owners.”

When I made a phone call to Trump Tower for a bigger story about the state of the USFL, I got put through to that executive vice president, John Barron. The moment I heard Barron speak, I knew.

After he made the point, several times over, that Flutie was making more money than one owner should have to pay, I said, “You know, John, you sound an awful lot like Donald.”

There was no long delay, no hint of concern of being unmasked.

“Donald and I went to school together, so we have a lot of the same inflections,” he said.

The conversation didn’t last much longer.

The next day, I realized I needed to confirm how to spell Barron — the name had also been in the press as “Baron” — and get his exact title, so I called back. It got even more interesting. The secretary who answered gave me three different spellings, and there was confusion over his title. She asked, “What did Donald tell you yesterday?” I said, “I wasn’t speaking to Donald. I was speaking to John Barron.”

When I asked if John Barron was real, she told me he “absolutely” existed and added, “You can come in and meet him sometime. He’s been with us a long time.”

Earlier, another secretary told me Barron had been with the organization only a short time. Both secretaries knew the truth. I did, too. I also knew I had to pick one of the three spellings, so I went with Baron, but pointed out in the story that I’d been given options.

Your comment reminds me of a true story.  A coworker of mine was legally named Please Please.  Of course I had to ask her the origin of it and this is what she told me.  "My mother died giving birth to me and her last words were "Name my baby please please."  So they did.  The corker is that she and her husband adopted a boy and a girl.  The girl's legal name is Little Please and the boy's legal name is Different.

You've got to be kidding:

U.S. federal budget deficit runs at nearly $1 trillion in 2019

The numbers:  The U.S. government ran a budget deficit of just under $1 trillion — $984 billion — in the fiscal year that ended in September. It was the largest shortfall since 2012, and was 26% more than the fiscal 2018 deficit of $779 billion.

How's that BOOMING ECONOMY, oh yeah...TAX BREAKS FOR THE RICH and the deficit EXPLODED....

In 2009 two terms of a Republican administration that had started two unnecessary unfunded wars gave us an annual deficit of $1.4 trillion.

By 2016 President Obama had reduced that deficit by 65% to $585 billion.

By 2019 inept Donald has increased the annual deficit nearly 50% to $1.09 trillion with projections for 2020 at $1.101 trillion and has grown the debt by over $3 trillion. His claims of fiscal responsibility to his fans during the 2016 campaign were nothing but lies, but I've no doubt he'll use them again for the 2020 campaign to prove just how mind numbingly stupid anyone would have to be to vote for him again.

If you'll look at my link you'll see that nearly every year since Obama took office he reduced the annual deficit (only 2012 and 2016 did it increase) and 2012 it was actually at $1.087 trillion compared to 2019 which is at $1.091 trillion.

The point is, Trump ran on supposed fiscal conservatism and a promise to reduce the debt and deficit. Since taking office he has only increased both the debt and deficit, and not just a little but dramatically. He has nearly doubled the deficit in just 3 years back to highs not seen since the ones Obama inherited from the last fiscally irresponsible Republican administration. But don't worry, I've no doubt Trump will lose in 2020, a Democrat will be President again and Republicans will go back to claiming they care about the debt and deficit again as if it's all the democrats fault. It's what they do, run up the debt with huge give-a-ways to corporations and the wealthy and then jump ship to go work for those corporations while blaming Democrats who end up cleaning up their mess and having to make the hard choices in cutting spending or increasing taxes to pay for Republicans fiscal irresponsibility.

Already familiar with the data.  Didn't need the link, but thank you for providing it.

The point is, Trump ran on supposed fiscal conservatism and a promise to reduce the debt and deficit.

He also ran on the promise of a giant wall with the label "Hecho in Mexico".  Nobody cares what he promises.  I don't understand how we're nearly 3 years into his presidency and people still live in denial about how he won.

But the point is really that liberals, in general, need to be able to say stuff that isn't mathematically preposterous.  It shouldn't be that hard to criticize Trump or defend Obama with math that doesn't require pixie dust and unicorns.

Since taking office he has only increased both the debt and deficit, and not just a little but dramatically. He has nearly doubled the deficit in just 3 years back to highs not seen since the ones Obama inherited from the last fiscally irresponsible Republican administration.

So out of curiosity, where do you stand on the ultimate deficit warp engine known as Bernicare?

But don't worry, I've no doubt Trump will lose in 2020, a Democrat will be President again and Republicans will go back to claiming they care about the debt and deficit again as if it's all the democrats fault.

And Democrats will go back to telling us deficits don't matter and it's all the previous Republican's fault.  It's an exceedingly predictable pattern.

But before that...they have to nominate somebody who isn't a raving nutter.

Bill Clinton WAS AGAINST the repeal, was he not ?

Clinton waffled back and forth.  By the time he signed it he supported it.  He later came back and said it was one of the biggest regrets of his presidency.

The point here is that blind partisanship is stupid.  Accusing "the other side" of some sort of villainy while your own side is actively involved in the same deed is ridiculous.

The Clinton impeachment is the perfect example of this.  You currently have partisan conservatives screaming about a Democratic witch hunt, looking for a reason to impeach the president.  But what was the investigation of Clinton, if not a witch hunt?  How much dirt did they have to dig up before they caught him in a perjury about something most people didn't care about in the first place?

So our choice is to participate in the foolishness or step back and think for ourselves while the headless chickens run around and squawk about whatever nonsense has them riled up today.

cause the way i've found it, you are confounded with a dumfounded way of  excusing Trumpp,

Cite me excusing Trump.

It is a further measure of stupidity when partisanship blinds a person so fully that they mistake anyone who fails to join their own chorus as some sort of enemy in league with the hated enemy.

Resentful of what though. I could think of a few things yet they would sound like I was calling them racist.

Nah, it's not really race-related anymore.  Don't get me wrong...a lot of them are racists...but this is different.

The 10-second encapsulation would be when Hillary used the word "deplorable".  She finally said out loud what most of them have known for decades, which is that college-educated elites view working-class people as lesser human beings.

These guys work their asses off in jobs I thank the Lord daily that I don't have to do.  If I had to get up on Texas roofs in July to fix A/C units, I'd have heat stroke before 9am.  But these guys get up, get it done, and do the best they can to provide for their families.

Meanwhile, both Republicans and Democrats have been proclaiming how great NAFTA is for decades while millions of manufacturing jobs have migrated to Mexico.  They wanted the TPP after millions more jobs have gone to China/Malaysia etc.  They watch China manipulate its currency to artificially suppress prices for Chinese goods so they would have a competitive advantage over American manufacturers, while their own government has done nothing at all to protect them.

Here in the states, it's tougher and tougher to support their families because wages are suppressed by millions of illegal immigrants with fake documentation.

If they complain, they get called racist.  If they point out that "identifying" as a girl doesn't actually make you one, they're called homophobic.  If they point out that women can actually afford a co-pay for birth control, they're misogynistic bastards engaged in a "war on women".

They're expected to pay taxes to fund college grants for kids whose parents don't work, while they can't afford to send their own kids.  Then, kids who did go to college and took out $200k in loans to study art history want the deplorables to pay them off.

Some are able to scrape up enough to send their kids to college, where those kids are taught that their dads are the root of all America's problems but they're just too old and ignorant to understand.

So yeah...they've had about enough.

Resentment does not make for sound policy.

No.  It doesn't.  But it's usually not created by sound policy, either.

The problem that concerns me is the lack of any visible source of sound policy.  We seem pulled between the Trump/Bannon right and the Sanders/Warren left, with AOC even further out in la-la land.

Clickbait.

We didn't used to have a scenario where you chose your own news sources based on how outrageous the headline was.  Starting a media outlet was expensive and TV and radio stations were licensed.  You had 3-5 TV news outlets and usually 1-2 newspapers in any city.

Now, you can be a "journalist" in 30 minutes if you know how to set up a blog and buy a domain name.  "News" is everywhere, and if you want people to view your version of it, you have to stand out.

Failing to understand the difference between "true" and "mathematically preposterous", I see.

Here.  Try this:

  • Example...."if you like your doctor, you can keep him".  Not true, but also not mathematically preposterous.
  • Example 2....  "read my lips...no new taxes".  Also not true, but not mathematically preposterous.
  • Example 3...  "I didn't inhale".  Preposterous, but not mathematically preposterous.

As opposed to...

  • $55-$90 trillion for the Green New Deal.  Mathematically preposterous.
  • Bernie Sanders says we can pay for his $40 trillion Medicare for with $15 trillion in tax increases... which is 50% more than we collect now and 60% short of what he needs.  Mathematically preposterous.
  • Warren's wealth tax raising $2.75 trillion over 10 years.  Mathematically preposterous.

There is also "scientifically preposterous", which is where far right Republicans tend to dominate.

Now... we have Mayor Pete who (to my knowledge) has yet to go down the mathematically preposterous route.  Biden does a very good job at avoiding the mathematically preposterous.  Even Kamala Harris has backed down from some of her extremist/preposterous stances.  So the Democrats have some normal people they can nominate.

The question is...will they?

Information the MSM would rather leave out of this incident.  It hinders them in their agenda to take advantage of the misinformed.  Trump's policies are for people who want to become something other than dependents of the state. Somebody is desperate and for good reason.

A little screeching on the chalkboard for ya!!!

She may feel free to discuss anything she wishes.  If she has a New Zealand accent, we'll want to listen all day long...regardless of topic.

How long will she be in Houston?  Trust me, if she's renting a car while there, she has more to fear from Houston drivers than anything else.  Anywhere.  In the world.  True story.

But seriously, I hope she has a blast while here.  We're not half bad when you get to know us.

Well, if she’s old and frail looking she might want to avoid voicing support for trump in public as groups of progressives like to beat up senior citizens and others who can’t defend themselves for the crime of wearing a red hat.

otherwise, it’s just a question of manners.  One typically doesn’t walk into a store and make political pronouncements. She’s free to do so, but people might assume she’s crazy.

America, by and large still love Obama! Best President ever in modernity. Did he makes a few mistakes, yep,  they all have. Difference this time is this flake in the current Oval is there by fraudulent means. And he's going down. If he out-lives his jail sentence and ever makes a public appearance that isn't pre-arranged with MAGAts only, he will find the same booing reception and maybe much more.

Chances are he won't live to see it out of the Oval. I bet he strokes before long.

What if there is a group of voters, similar to the Trump voters in 2016,  who want something different this time (and given Trump is the incumbent it is quite arguable that there is a lot more need for something different this time) ?    We could see a wave that throws the GOP out of all its majorities nationally.

It is pretty well known that there are more Democrats than Republicans.  Simple turnout will dictate the winner as long as independents break even.   But given the way things are going, it seems likely that independents will break for the Democrat.  If Democrats can bring out their vote, they will win the White House.

In my personal, non-scientific experience, my 25-year-old daughter's Millennial friends are much more likely to be liberal.  They attend protests as social events.

However, my 20-year-old son (college junior) has a girlfriend with a Ronald Reagan photo on her dormitory wall.  No, that's not in Texas and she's not from Texas.

I'm not sure that's going to be as big a wave as you hope.
